    Very dangerous design. You need to extend the control arm past the end of the chain or you'll end up chopped to bits. Don't lean over any where near the chain and put a kill switch on the end of the control arm

    Think this ist really Dangerous by Design, the arm of the operator is to near to the chain. Another mistake is that the chain speed is to low, which can bei seen by the vibrations during sawing the wood. I would recommend everyone NOT to try this by yourself, the machine is highly dangerous.

    Sweet.A 'jackshaft' with a gear set to multiply the chain speed x5 will get your work done much quicker.Still,it's a good build as-is./Slatko. 'Pokretna osovina' sa zupčanikom podešenim za povećanje brzine lanca x5 će vaš posao obaviti puno brže. Ipak, dobra je izrada takva kakva jest.

    hello, the speed of the chain look to slow , no oil lubrification, bad position for the engine when you load the wood , cranshaft oil is over good level/angle , but good job :)

    sugestion its better put handle at back of the engine for safety rather your facing the chainsaw.

    I think you should change the design as so you're not getting near the rotating chainsaw. If your clothes snag then you'll loose your arm!

    This cuts slower than a good chainsaw. BUT, now you don't have to shave your underarms. Well, maybe one. Agree on gearing -- way too slow. Even slower than the old gear saws. And maybe a valve on the oiler? Treadle control? And I know this is all in fun. My favorite caption: "Safety First!"

    Keep an eye on that crankcase oil. You might want to add a little extra to compensate for operating the engine at an incline. If you ever do a redesign, consider a fixed engine position with the jackshaft to be the pivot point for the chainsaw bar.

    The cutter should be placed in a balanced position so that when holding the handrail to cut it, it will not be heavy because the weight of the screw cutter will be heavy. Leaving it in the tensioned position by taking the spring wire to hold it when cutting will be lighter. .and the head of the wood when the saw is cut should also be left at 3/5 of the rack, the saw cuts off the wood, it will fall down by itself, we don't have to push it down from the cutting table.

    After reading some of the comments I agree there needs to be some changes in the design to make it more safe .I also agree the chain speed needs to be nearly doubled .I think those issues addressed and this could work fairly well...The engine has about the same horsepower as a few of my larger sthil chainsaws but they have much higher rpm therefore high chainspeed so they cut smooth....I would double the chainspeed by gearing it different .I would also buy a racing kart camshaft that is designed for higher rpm....These little motors with mods such as cam and larger carb make almost twice the horsepower and can turn as much as 9k rpm .So my point is if this project has more fine timing and the safety issues addressed it really would be a good useable saw at much lower price than a sthil 660 or 661 .And could put out more horsepower but I don't think it needs alot of horsepower to cut the size logs that fit in the cradle....I do thing it's an interesting ideal and I've often wondered how one of these predator engines would work as some type of chainsaw....Stay safe and keep working on it and show us another video after your done

    right on ,,chainspeed needs to be at least double if not even more,,that fourstroker revs maybe 3000 rpm while a chainsaw revs 10 000 rpm and a extension vith a 90 degree bend on it for the handlebar is a solution maybe to the crazy dangerus stick that he is using now, and the oiler needs to get in to the bar under the chain so a small hole and a groove behind the oilerhole in the bar and a nipple on the backside with a ballvalve should be a better way to lubricate the bar and chain

    Ok idea, but chain saw chains you have to constantly sharpen. A 24 inch buzz saw blade on an inch and 3/8 arbor would work much better with that motor and minimal blade sharpening. Cool the blade with water if you have to. Much safer way. I use one run off my tractor pto.

    triple or quadruple the engine speed(most saws run at 14krpm). a simple band break around the outside of the clutch would make it ton safer, make it so it disengages when you pull it down. also i think i would have made the blade only piviot. i don't really see the practicality of this, you just end up lifting heavier wood. if it were built into a log splitter i could see it. sorry to sound so negative, good video though.

    The approach to the product is solid. However, I believe that it is better to split 1 meter long logs firstly than to cut it to the size of the boiler, and then split each one again and again. Sawing logs is much easier and faster than splitting them. So, I advise you to first make a 1m splitter. I saw this approach in American blogger's videos . The Shepach company also makes 1010 mm log splitters for the same purposes.

  • @kameljoe21

    @kameljoe21

    Жыл бұрын

    The thing is Us Americans do not cut meter long logs. We buck out the wood to the size that we need which is between 16 inches and 2 foot. Then we split it all. I can process so much fire wood its not funny. I once bucked and split 5 cords in around 6 hours. I go to the river with my trailer and large side dump truck and have the farmer load me dead trees from 12 inches to close to 3 foot. Stopped doing the really big stuff and stuck with the 12 to 18 inch logs and get home and buck off the entire trailer using a cant and wedges when needed and while more than half of them land on the ground. I then split them in half then I will cut off the ends for some small bits and then split the log in to squares or rectangles. No wedges. I keep about 6x6 in the largest size. As this stacked quite well in my old stove.
