How to Make Firewood Cutting Machine DIY
amzn.to/3TgnLFT - Parts list
s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeS... - great steel scraper
In previous videos, we made various woodworking machines such as wood chippers and splitters, but this time we decided to do something that would make cutting wood into blocks a lot easier.
A 2.2 kW / 3 HP motor is sufficient for such a device. Even with high pressure, the chain turns without any problem.
Thanks to the foldable structure, the whole thing is very maneuverable and does not take up much space.

Yes, 2 comments for 1 video. After watching you use the machine I just felt the need to say I think your videos are inspirational. It's good to see young(er than myself) people not afraid to work with their hands and make things to make life better. The last few generations seem to be moving to a buy-and-dispose mentality, when with a little effort things can be made, skills can be learned, and life can be improved.
I only wish I had 3 phase power! My electrical system was installed in 1927 and all I have is 15 amps at 120volts!
Great, love the saw and the splitter! Wish I had this when I was doing my small commercial firewood biz back in the day.

This isn’t a DIY job this needs a whole lot of machinery
Mind of a machinist never stops at quitting time. Proper thing, looks safe and quick with the small wood.
Nádhera. Radost pracovat s takovým vybavením díly.
A real pleasure to see a true mechanical engineer at work.
I smell an emergency room visit.
The speedy splitter is what could really make a great difference for a firewood machine I've been wanting to see someone build it
I loved the video. The machine itself wasn't terribly complicated, but the things that really impressed me were the simplicity of the oiler, and the attention to safety features that frankly I would have never even considered. Wonderful job.

Actually kind of stupid. Not many have the tools [machinery] needed to make this. If you can afford the machines, you can definitely afford a $1,000 dollar log cutting system. Reminds of a video similar to this where some guy used $80,000 at least in machinery and wasted two hours of his time to make a table clamp that you could pick up at Lowe’s for $15.

@KallePihlajasaari

I would also agree with this. The guards at the blade tip could be increased a bit. For most reasonable sized logs a shorter chain blade could also be selected. So much better than most designs with very little that needs improving, certainly safer than cutting short logs all day holding the chainsaw by hand.

19:00 I'd want to see a longer guard dangling down from the blade cover - maybe 20-30cm so it won't be in the way when the blade is up, but then it could be protected even while cutting the largest log. Granted you're probably not going to fall forward into the machine while holding the button. Very very cool build. Edit: 18:54 could add a spring-loaded arm to hold down the wood that travels in the same axis as the handle to hold down the wood, then no hands near the blade.
@andrecostermans7109
Жыл бұрын
About your proposal for a second spring-loaded arm , personally I would like that one operated by foot ( pedal) because after some time the operator will be stressed out for continuously stretching out two springs by just one arm . And for safety you could attach a first electrical contact on the log-restraining arm , and connect it ( serial) with the start button .

That's a beautiful thing! I often use my chainsaw to cut dimensional lumber for small projects, this is basically taking that to the next level and making a chop-saw, which can cut any kind of wood. I don't believe the safety is there, but the function is.
@fredfred4086
Жыл бұрын
It's an excellent, efficient, machine. Both his hands seem safe, but I think a hinged cover hanging off the end of the top black guard would provide more safety from the exposed end of the chainsaw.🙂
Couple of suggestion - blade guard should be taller than the blade and extend under it. You should also never cross your arm across the cutting line of the saw while the machine is energized - you can mitigate this by making the machine left hand operated, so you will have to withdraw your hand to make a cut - currently it looks very easy to cut off your left hand by mistake.

Is it just me, or would it have been a little more logical to make the handle and cutting pivot face AWAY from the user. Such that the saw is not facing the user. I know it's easier to pull down on something rather than push. Don't know, could be overthinking this but seems just a bit backward to me.

Do you know that a 3-phase normal electrical motor can produce approx. 4 times its nominal power, which means your 2.2 kW motor gives approx. 9 kW if needed. Just ideal for cutting firewood. A few seconds lasting overload doesn't damage the motor. A longer lasting overload would overheat it. This is why it would be a good idea to install a thermoelectric motor protector to protect the motor from overheating. I don't see one here. Greetings from an electrical engineer.
