Interesting build nicely executed as usual. It's worth noting that the reason you wash oil containers before cutting and welding is to eliminate any flammable liquids and (more importantly) vapours (as the latter can form an explosive mixture.) Also, cement needs to react with carbon dioxide in the air to harden fully so I wonder what condition you would find it in if you cut into one of those barrels after 3 weeks.

If you leave the barrels empty but sealed you can fill them with water each time they are used for the weight and also have something lighter to work with when building, maintaining or storing. Also make a flat shelf on top if you sometimes need to add extra weight.

I was thinking the same thing, water is a lot easier to work with, you can adjust the ballast within the roller, or like you said put a weight frame on for extra ballast

Water is not easier to work with. You have to have a pump to fill or hose, and can't leave it that way in the winter. It rusts the barrels. It weighs 1/3 that of concrete. It needs to be sealed. You can use antifreeze, but it can't leak. Once filled with concrete, it is done. Just hook up and roll.

I had that idea already but I don't have a barrel. I like the way you did it but is a bit to wide and it can become difficult to negotiate around tight bends. If I would make it with two barrels I would make one barrel behind the other or with only one barrel and add extra wait on top. But never the less well done. Kind regards from London UK.

как написано в комментариях водой заполнять можно вес регулировать. от себя с водой проще слил налил перевози проще дешевле на данный каток по мотор вибратору по бокам воткнуть и генератор преспособить можно на трактор эффекта будет больше а так молодец автор за идею.

I ja sam napravio sličan, prvo sam mislio da će biti burad, ali nisam mogao da nađem bez ivica, pa sam napravio jedan od kanalizacionog šahta napunjenog betonom, a površina je glatka i ne ostavlja tragove kao kod rebrasta burad

Я как то об этом не подумал, при этом в воду можно добавить к примеру удобрения но для этого надо иметь достаточное количества отверстий и конструкция должна быть усилена. Впрочем этот приём годен только на газонах и местах выпаса скота.

My question in turn is, what do you know about cement? The number 1 rule to concrete is you need a form to shape it the way you want it. Whether it's steps, sidewalk, driveway. And you always want to have said form prepared before you mix your concrete, otherwise you will be disappointed.
