Piroclanidis well the comic does go in a completely different direction then where it seems the show is going, but there’s always parallels. But I would agree that Batman could defeat homelander. I think it might be easy for him.

Antony Starr is criminally underrated, the malevolence of Homelander through his acting is just palpable in every scene and as we go into season three, it becomes more and more intense with every episode. Amazing performance.
God homelander is so lazy, he just uses laser eyes for everything 😂

Darkseid* I'd say Batman but, Batman's only equipped for Superman. Because he knows Superman has morals that even as an evil superman, he'd never break. Homelander has no morals. So Darkseid or Superman himself is necessary for someone like this.

What I absolutely love about this character is the unpredictability. Since he's a demigod (or full), without any real morality or selfcontoll, you can expect anything. I love that. It's really unsettleing.

But.. Homelander was created BASED off Superman. And it's a critique of the fact that superheroes aren't as great as we put them out to be. The creators of superman wanted to give kids something to believe in and to show the greatness of mankind, and that's superman. I assume whoever wrote The Boys wanted to show the faults of humans and make people scared of too much power.

Its crazy how easy superman would have dealt with that, just exiting the plane calmly and slowing down the speed of the place from the outside and safely putting it on the ground.
Homelander and Omniman are similar, but The Boys was written by someone who vocally hates superheroes, while Invincible was written by someone who loves them. The difference really shows.

I love that Anthony adds a bit of cringe and almost bad acting when Homelander is talking to press, to emphases that Homelander has fake persona when talking to press and he's (Homelander) actually acting. It's a really neat detail.

The best thing about Starr's portrayal is how he can go from a total personal vacuum, to a psychopath filled with narcissistic rage, to an insecure self-doubter. It is those crossover moments that generate the miniscule empathy we feel for him, until the anvil of reality once again crushes down on us. The comic book version had none of these nuances.
I love this show because it really shows how powers like these would affect people
Homelander is so well written and acted in this show. One of the best modern day villains for sure.

@@bigrealm8156 The show is quite different from the comic. Like in the comic Maeve cuts her way through people in order to escape after Homelander ditches her... In the show she cannot fly, so she is forced to give up on saving anyone so Homelander wouldn't leave her behind. She's overall more empathetic to other people in the show in comparison to the comic.

I thought the plane scene was hilarious in a dark twisted way 🤣
The warehouse scene in Syria kind of reminds me of when Superman in “Injustice” went into the rave where all the people were dressed as joker-celebrating his life and Superman heat visioned everyone. All you heard were screams from outside as Batman and Catwoman watched from another building. and couldn’t do anything. Then the screams stopped all of the sudden.
I like how he uses his laser roughly like not aiming but cutting people.
I hope he gets casted as The Reverse Flash in the flash movie!

namogel67 the flash uses a cosmic force called the speed force to run and the reverse flash has the negative speed force which is almost the same thing. Making them run at similar speeds.
One small detail I never really see talked about is Homelander’s “you guys are the real heroes” phrase. He says it like a line you’re forced to say at a job, something you don’t particularly mean but have to say. Vought needed someone to do a very important job, and hired an emotionally immature teen with mommy issues.

Just began watching this show last week (I’ve finished it now and thought it was phenomenal) but I knew, going in, Homelander was a bad guy but that plane scene is still so shocking
The fact that when you see Homelander on the screen with one of the protagonists you always feel unconfortable, like there is something bad that is going to happen, is the proof of a well done acting job. For example when Hughie is on the pool with him. I was dying by anxiety
