Friend, I've been in LE for over 35 yrs. I've shot 2 qualifications and 2 practices yearly. Do the math. FBI/Blackwater qual ranges. You, my friend, are fast! Humble and modest. Good shooting. Good video. Don't mind the naysayers. When I build my range, like you, I've had enough expertise training to where i can now enjoy shooting rather then freakin dreading it. Good on you!!!

I really want to build something like this. It beats the hell out of "mining the berm" like I do. I wanted to mention that the lead dust you get when emptying the trap and shaking the bucket is the most dangerous way to expose yourself to lead. If the pipe were open ended at the bottom and had a angled baffle where it could slowly drop the fragments and dust into a bucket of water you could reduce your exposure to that dust to almost nothing. As long as you didnt add that wet lead to already molten lead no issue there either. And not to really sound like a safety sally (I hate them too), dogs love to watch you weld, but it causes them to go blind just like it would us. Keep that in mind.

Great job! My dad build one similar when I was a about ten years old we used it a lot, collected our lead, molded our bullets, reloaded and shot again. I have no idea where it ended up, but I sure would like to have it today. Very nice video and thanks for sharing!!

Apex is awesome. Not only do they make great triggers, but their customer service is unbeatable. I had a flat advanced trigger for my P320. After the P320 recall they took back the original trigger and sent the new replacement trigger 100% free no postage either way. All that for something that was absolutely not their fault.

I like the idea of putting everything at angles so as to increase the thickness of metal in relation to the bullet's flight path. Same idea as armor on tanks. Someone did mention that it would be more like perfect if the angle of one of the sides continued past the other so as to make it impossible to hit the pipe in the middle. That way when you pump up your Sheridan more than 10 pumps, you don't send a pellet thru it.😉. Seriously though, best looking bullet trap I have seen! Great job. Don't breathe in that lead dust man!

Great idea for saving lead for recasting. Only one improvement I could think of besides the "tip off bottom" mentioned by the welder guy, was that one plate should be longer than the other so no shots could go directly into the pipe. With a slight overlap but still a space between, the shots will always hit plate even though the pipe is pretty tough. The overlap with a space will also guarantee that no lead will ever bounce back or out of the device, though it would still be rare with your design. Good luck and keep shootin'.
