Hi everyone, in this video I do a keratin treatment at home on my naturally curly hair. My aim was always to keep my curls and make them more manageable and give me some more versatility! I used Avlon's Texture Release as it's formaldehyde free and designed specifically for curly and afro hair.
I had a bit of shrinkage in the last frames because I did a refresh rather than washing my hair, which left my roots frizzier then they would normally be!

I adore you. I can totally relate to you and your perspective. My hair is so much like yours and i so seldom see people with our hair type. It gives me hope to do a keratin treatment on my hair in which case i will write back and let you know how that goes. I am coming off a bad relaxer from a stylist who does short hair. My hair grew so fast that i decided to let it grow but it dried my scalp so much that it became a problem. Then some breakage. I know exactly how you feel keeping the old hair rather than cutting it off. I am going to hold on to it as long as i can. Thank you for doing this video. I subscribed and will be watching your other videos.

Aw thank you! It's so funny you say that because I spent so much time when I was younger wishing I had straight or wavy hair! Guess the grass will always seem greener. Embrace your wavy hair, I'm sure it's gorgeous! And just look for products to enhance what you already have! Or if you really want to keep curling it maybe use a good heat protectant and sleep with it in a way that means your curls last for a few days so you're not curling it everyday? I would also say a keratin treatment would not be the right thing in this case though as it may loosen your waves a bit and reduce volume which sounds like the opposite of what you want!

You have lovely curls and you’re drop dead gorgeous!! yes I agree with your friends about the cut😅 I hope you’ll go to an experienced curl cutter and get a nice shape cut, it’ll make the world of difference. I have type 4 hair and first leaned about keratin treatment a few months ago. Where I live not many hair stylists have experience with my hair texture and whenever I inquired if they can do a keratin on my hair they would give some lame story about it not being able to straighten my hair 🙄 like just tell me you’ve never done it on tightly curled hair which is not the end of the world. Anyway after some extensive KZread and internet research I took matters into my own hand and decided to do it on my own. Bought a keratin kit from the brand Kativa. My hair turned out awesome! So smooth and frizz free with my curls still intact. It’s been a month now and my hair although not quite as smooth is still much easier to detangle etc. Love this treatment, it seems to be slept on for tightly coiled hair!

Aw you're so lovely, thank you! Haha I also agree on the cut!! So glad to hear you've also had a great experience. Completely agree that keratin treatments are massively underrated for those that want to embrace their curls/ coils but improve manageability and frizz.

Anna Rubas My hair is type 4. I have a mixture. Mostly 4B as well, however the front (near my edges) is way looser and my nape too. The crown of my hair has very kinky 4c curls and seems like it takes forever to catch up with the rest of my hair in length... My hair is not damaged after the treatment. It’s way easier to comb through with product and not as frizzy/puffy. If you do it definitely make sure the treatment clearly states that it contains no formaldehyde. That chemical is no good for hair.

Hi I have curly indian hair ( I'm from guyana s america ) and none of these keratin treatments do much . The only thing that worked was when I had a mix of thermal straightening at a salon in London from a guy called zoltan . Its grown out now but I've just learned to embrace my curls . I do this by giving it moisture such as hair mask , aussie 3 minute miracle .

I’m doing a keratin treatment for the first time In a year and a half and I’ve noticed my hair was silkier, healthier and more defined when I had the keratin in. I use uncurly and I love it but I haven’t ever kept to a schedule, I just did it whenever I wanted to straighten my hair (once or twice a year) so I’m excited to see how my hair reacts to doing it consistently every 5-6 months (I’m looking at doing it every May and December) Did you ever do a second application of this keratin treatment? I’d love to see how your hair took to a “top up” lol

Thanks so much for your comment. Yes definitely agree on the silkier, healthier hair! Yes, I've just done my second treatment so have my hair in the straight phase now so once I've washed it will be uploading the next video! Unfortunately life did get in the way, so it did end up being 6 months after the first treatment, but will try and do the one after a bit sooner! Especially as my hair is bleached, I'm always quite cautious about heat damage so just trying to find the balance. Please let me know how yours go! x

Heads up ladies doing research: I was 2b/2c before keratin. I had lovely wash and go hair. After 8.5 months I must artificially curl my hair and by the end of the day I’m straight. Basically, I recommend thinking it over bc it’s a styling chore. This didn’t make my life easier. Plus my hair’s waist length so...And it was done by salon as well.

Ok. So now i am blonde. On 7 th January i had my last bleaching session- going blonde was slow process, it was one year to manage it. On Saturday i had keratin treatment- it was amazon botox keratim. My hair are in very good shape- for the first time in years. But i really care for them. Half a year and i will reach my goal- waist length blonde hair. I also use olaplex. I thought it is impossible to have long blonde hair- but it is. I am so happy.
