My all-time favorite song + My all-time favorite band = HEAVEN The guys are in jail because they killed this song!!

This song is now Home Frees' song. They put their magical talents to it and elevated it to gold standard. The music is sublime, the gritty prison video served the original theme of the song perfectly, even tho' it hurt my heart a little to see the guys in jail and Adam's black eye. You could feel the longing and loneliness through the music and see it in the video. Masterpiece, as usual. They are in jail 'cause they killed this song and stole so many hearts. Neither a cappella nor beat boxing were anywhere on my radar as of 6 months ago. Then I discovered Home Free and I am literally addicted. Their vocals are spectacular. Adam Rupp mesmerizes me and I just lose my sh*t enjoying his performances. Home Free is relatable. You almost feel as if you are listening to friends perform. Great reaction.

Home Free dropped this video February 14, 2022. Austin Brown, accompanied by Steven Martinez on guitar dropped his version exactly 13 months before that on January 14, 2021. Well worth checking out. Another Austin Brown video I want to recommend is Bring Him Home from Les Miz. Like the other one it's done simply, filmed in his house with just a musician, this time Sebastien Douyon on piano. This one takes Austin back to his musical theater training and you hear none of the Georgia boy in his voice. And utterly beautiful rendition. Two other songs I want to recommend -- if you haven't reacted to them yet, that is -- are the videos Home Free dropped for their fans for Valentine's Day. This year's song was Make You Feel My Love and the one from 2021 is called I Swear. Both are romance songs with a zany touch that I think only Home Free can pull off.

I agree Home Free is the best. Voiceplay was on the same season of Sing Off as Home Free. They were in 5th place.

Tim recently released a solo album of doo-wop songs, and Austin had done a solo video of himself singing Unchained Melody, so it was a natural progression to merge the two and spin it the Home Free way. Adam Rupp's percussion on this is stellar! I love the doo-wop feel and the whole vintage feel.

I really enjoyed your reaction, Tom! I agree with you, while Pentatonix and VoicePlay are also fantastic a cappella groups, I believe that Home Free is the most relatable of them all. That is not to detract from Pentatonix and VoicePlay (who, by the way, also came through The Sing Off, but did not win). All three groups are incredible. You, like many other reactors wonder why some of these incredible singers aren't out there pursuing solo careers. Their talent levels would certainly support it, and many of them do side solo and alternative group projects. However, I believe that they enjoy and take particular pride in fact that they are members of the best a cappella groups in the world. That being said, there is a fourth group you should check out. That group is Voctave. They are larger (11 members) and have no beatboxer. I think a valid comparison with the previously mentioned a cappella groups is that they're combos and Voctave is an a cappella orchestra. As for full a cappella sound, they really can't be beat, but that's because they can cover a lot more notes on both the treble and bass clefs. Enjoy! I look forward to many more of your reactions.

Yep, you were right. Home Free went back to the roots of the song and did the prison video. It’s so good. Voiceplay was also on the Sing Off and Home Free beat them on season 4. They are all so good. I don’t know why they got rid of the Sing Off - it was a good vehicle for the ‘a cappella’ groups except maybe the big promoters didn’t think their music would sell. They don’t play them on the radio and they should. They have incredible voices and the beatboxers are amazing. Good reaction!

Love this version where Home Free took the song back to its 1955 origin from the Movie Unchained. The slower doo wop style help give the mood of the song to match the prison rhyme. The acceptance of the acapella style IMHO is getting bigger mainly because of streaming outlets. Radio and TV do not play much acapella so it’s exposure is greatly reduced. Here are some acapella artist Pentatonix, Home Free, Voiceplay, Voctive, Peter Hollens, Dcapella, Rockappella, Cypress Fire, Straight No Chaser just to name a few. You have a lot of Homr Free songs over the last few months you have missed, few are AMAZED by Lonestar, BROTHER IN ARMS by Dire Straights, MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE by Bob Dylan. You have a great day.

Pentatonix were the winners of season 3 of the Sing-Off which went from September to November 2011. Home Free word season 4 in December 2013. VoicePlay tied for 5th place that year out of ten groups. Season 2 of the Sing-Off was broadcast December 2010. Second place out of ten groups was Street Corner Symphony out of Nashville. Their bass singer was a long haired (about Tim Foust length) guy name Adam Chance. He later cut his hair much shorter and joined another a cappella group as the baritone/occasional bass singer. Yes, Chance is now a member of Home Free. Yay!

Acutally his full name is Adam Chance Ray, and before he was in Home Free (and in his real life) was known as Adam Ray - but from what I understand he has always professionally used the name Adam Chance (his middle name) as his "show business" name. This is a very common practice in show business and used to protect the families of people in show business

Like you, of all the acapella groups, Home free is my favorite. You expressed it well when you said you could relate to their music better. I like some of the music the other groups do but but over all every song I've heard Home Free do, I've never been dissapointed.

They could sing the directions on a bottle of Pepto and I'd have chills and tears.

Voiceplsy was on the sing off the same year Home Free was. Chance was on the sing off the second season with another group, he was rhe bass in the group and Peter hollens was on the sing off on season 2 also

You also need to check out Voctave. They are an 11 member acapella group and they are fantastic!!!!!!!

PTX was on the Sing Off Season 3 and Won...Home Free won Season 4 and VoicePlay was also on that season. A little tidbit is that Chance came from another group where he was the bass...and they were also on The Sing Off....but Chance has worked on his lower register and can easily take over bass while Tim sings lead.

Hi Tom, I really enjoy your reactions. Especially when it’s Home Free. I think you need to dive into some of their fun videos and since Tim always seem to put a smile on your face, their rendition of Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass is a good place to start. Oh and just a little heads up for when you’re watching Home Free funny videos … don’t take your eyes off the screen because you will miss something hilarious

The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family. Home Free are my favorite a cappella group. They are in a league of their own. I am not a fan of the other groups.

Voice Play was on the same season of the Sing-Off as Home Free. PTX was winner of season 3 . Home Free won season 4. VoicePlay did not win but got to the top 4 or so groups in season 4.

Like many songs, I love this one from Home Free. They just give it a twist that it will be a real Home Free song, but still respect the original. The whole thing is so amazing again. The leads, the background (doo-woop), the bass, the harmony, the emotion, the video where they bring back the "original" story, the black and white image, the shadow of Adam on the wall etc.

Home Free did terrific with this song. Tim and Austin taking the leads and Rob, Chance and Adam did the background so very well. Others have mentioned a capella groups and they are all really good. I am more country but I like checking out the others also. I think you would enjoy them. They all are on youtube, you can step out and try a few more. Thanks for a great reaction.

It's "Between a Rock and a Heartache", but according to their patreon it won't be released until early April - no date. They DO however have another video/song that is dropping friday "Ain't Goin' Down Til the Sun Comes Up". It's phenomenal!

You nailed it... Home Free is soulful regardless of what they sing. I stumbled across them last year and have loved discovering all of the songs and videos I missed the first time around. Man of Constant Sorrow pulled me down the rabbit hole! Enjoyed your reaction and just subbed.

Home Free and Voice Play were on the sing off at the same time season 4 and have been friends ever since they even made a video together once (zombies v Hillbillies) after the sing off. Great reaction man.

Home Free and their harmonies!! Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️ I know it hearkens back to the mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❤️🎼🥰🎶❤️
