Home Free is considered country acapella, but they can and do cover all genres of music. Check out the Butts Remix, When a Man Loves a Woman, and End of the Road to see just a few that aren't all county flavored. But they are always great! You should also react to Hillbilly Bone, Helplessly Hoping, and Seven Bridges Road. Then once you think know where their usual roles and ranges are, give Mayday a listen. You won't regret going down this rabbit hole!

If you watch the Sing Off 4th Season, they perform this as one of their songs, and Tim actually drops a half step lower on the ending note....the baritone (Chris Rupp with the cap) who is a co-founder of Home Free with his brother Adam Rupp (the amazing Beat Boxer) has been replaced with Adam "Chance" who is a baritone but can also cover bass...Austin Brown is the high tenor and Rob (beard) is the other tenor. Avi and Tim are friends, and Avi has a couple cameo appearances in other videos and it is said that Tim helped Avi and Geoff (from Voiceplay) develop their low growl. Tim has a 5 Octave Range. Listen to more Home Free BEFORE you listen to Mayday...and you will understand. BTW, they did a cover of "End of the Road" which fully does justice to the original!

Home Free 101---This is the "Sing Off" lineup. Beatboxer Adam and baritone Chris Rupp formed the group in 2000. Tenor Rob Lundquist (glasses) joined the group in 2008, the same year they went full-time. Bass Tim Foust stabilized that lineup spot in 2010. HF found tenor Austin Brown aboard a cruise ship in 2012. Chris Rupp left in 2016, and helped choose bass-baritone Adam "Chance" as his replacement. The current lineup has been together ever since.

like the channel Tom and Sarah. I was fortunate to have heard Home Free in concert in 2015, one of their first tours after winning Sing Off. And my friend had gotten premiere tix, so we had an extended meet-and-greet before the show; they were a delight and they performed a song for the meet-and-greet that was not in the actual concert (you can do that when you only need your voices, as they mirthfully said). In the show, they did a range of genres, not just country. They were superb !

That is why in May 2016 when Chris Rupp left and Adam Chance joined Home Free, with his ability to be a bass too, it has made Home Free much better. Think also how much content Home Free has produced being in quaqrantine, while other bands have been fairly slack. Also that last note is a G1 and is about an octave lower than most singers caqn go. Home Free does all genre's including R&B...like End of the Road by Boyz2Men...watch it you may be impressed.

Home Free won the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. They’re friends. Tim Foust is the bass. He has a 5 octave range and that was a G#1 that he hit. Avi was great too. They are a country band but sing all genres and sing them well. Try Helplessly Hoping to hear great harmonies. Good reaction!

Everybody in the group does their own thing. Avi had some personal issues he needed to address that made continuing with the group untenable. He helped choose Matt, his replacement. They are different and they are both good. Everyone loves Avi and truly appreciates Matt.

That story of Avi helping choose Matt is something of an urban legend. Avi was involved in the early audition process, but he was gone from the group long before they finally decided on Matt.

Listens to them talking about the bass singing at 04:05 & waits patiently to see their reactions on Tim's last 9s long note.... You want TRULY impressive audio? Listen to the Peter Hollens & Home Free Collaboration cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" Just Peter & the HF boys - along with a background choir of over 250 of their Patreon supporters... It's not only wonderful for the vocals, but the leveling & equalizing of so many disparate sound sources of the individual videos of the choir members to make them sound like they were all in the same location & the same equipment is a truly impressive feat of sound engineering. Oh, and ya STILL need to complete the 5 Part Harmony Acapella triple crown by listening to some VoicePlay Looking forward to your reaction to their version of "Oogie Boogie's Song"
