Yes, welcome to Home Free, all acapella, no instruments at all. Masters of all musical genres. Organized in a college dorm in Minnesota in 2000; they won the 4th season of the Sing Off in 2013. Two are from Minnesota, one from Georgia, one from Texas and one from Alabama (Current members). Their covers are upgrades, their medleys are brilliant, their collaborations with the original artists are inspirational, and their original songs are masterpieces. Within this 5 man vocal band you have 5 tenors, 5 beat boxers, and 2 bass-baritones. All of them can sing lead and they choose depending on whose voice best fits the song. They can do just about anything and they continue to grow and improve, yet they remain so humble. When they have featured guest artist, they support and allow their featured artists to shine. Several of them have their own channels and do some solo work. And just for fun Rob and Austin sing Opera. What else can I say? Their catalogue of work is quite large and continues to grow. You are in for an exciting journey and the Home Fries will be there for you all the way.

lol I laughed when you said you wanted to hang out with the guys. At some point in a reactor's journey through Home Free music, everyone says that but you are the first reactor I've heard who said it on their first reaction. Yes, they are genuinely nice, fun humble guys. The Beatboxer's name is Adam Rupp he's from Minnesota he started this group in 2000 while in college with his brother Chris Rupp baritone/tenor. Chris is in this early video but he left in 2016 to pursue other musical interests. He was replaced by Adam Chance (baritone/bass). He's originally from Alabama. The high Tenor's name is Austin Brown. He was the one where you commented on his vibrato. He's from Georgia. The tenor's name is Rob Lundquist (the one with the glasses) He is also from Minnesota. You should try Man of Constant Sorrow, Helplessly Hoping, & Do You Hear What I Hear.

Home Free are independent artists. They bought out their contract they won on the sing off. They create their own music and speak to issues that are dear to them because they are not shackled to a label dictating to them what they will record! Bravo Home Free, the peoples champion!

Chris Rupp - founding member. Bald/hat guy. Baritone. Left. Has his own channel now. Adam Rupp - founding member and younger brother of Chris. Singing voice - tenor. Beatboxer percussion range - high tenor to low bass. Love when he sings and harmonizes. Uses a looper during shows, because they love to layer most of their songs these days. Rob Lundquist - first new member of current line up. Big guy with beard and glasses. Tenor and beautiful whistler and you'll find out his true range soon enough. We love him to bits. Has his own channel. Tim Foust - next to join the current lineup. Bass and baritone and tenor and high tenor. Songwriter. Stunning voice. Love listening to him talk. Has his own channel and albums. Austin Brown - last member to join before I discovered them. One who did the tenor solo in Ring Of Fire. High tenor, songwriter. Has his own channel where he does his own music (recorded with instruments). Could ( and do ) listen to him all day. His (now) wife features prominantly on his channel. Adam CHANCE - latest addition. Often wears big glasses and a cap. Read somewhere the glasses help with his migraines. Baritone to bass, songwriter. Most HF songs featuring instruments are of Chance playing his guitar. Smooth transition for the fans when he joined. Just as talented, creative, dedicated and loved as all the other members. With him able to cover bass, Tim has started performing more tenor leads. Has his own channel where he does his own music. Brilliant each in their own right and magical as Home Free. Their public vibe is of cool, slightly nerdy, humble, down to earth, friendly, goofy guys next door; who get along great, have mad respect for each others' abilities and creativity and adore their fans for giving them the careers and lives they have. Home Free is one of the few groups/vocal bands that not only allows it's members to pursue private projects, but then also bring their creations into the group. Home Free fridays kept us sane during covid as HF became prolific when most other acts hunkered down. HF would release a song every second friday at least and till now their releases help to cheer us up. Hope this long-winded post helps with getting to know the group better.

Tim has a 5 octave range which is unheard of (A0 to G5). Home Free won the sing off the year after Pentatonix. Voice Play was also on the sing off that same year. Tim worked with Geoff on his bass techniques which helped Geoff establish a deeper range (subharmonics). They are good friends along with Avi!

Home Free is labeled a country acapella group, but they can and do all genres of music. The group began in Minnesota with two brothers, Adam Rupp and his older brother Chris Rupp, and Adam's best friend Matt Atwood in 2001. Adam and Matt were teens. They endured many struggles, some of them hilarious, to establish the acapella group. Through the years, Home Free went through various members, especially basses, as they established themselves as a regional acapella group. Chris Rupp, the guy in the cowboy hat, wanted to create the best acapella group in the world. He sings tenor and baritone. Chris was an important part of Home Free's success in that he was outstanding in networking and negotiating. He and his brother were steadfast in creating Home Free even when they had no experience and little money. Matt and Chris are no longer members of the group. Matt quit first to join his family's business when his father became ill and to start a family. Chris quit later in 2016 years after the group had won the season four of The Sing-Off. Chris quit to pursue his own individual projects. He has his own YouTiube channel with a video history of Home Free. He also sings in another acapella group with his and Adam's sister Tristian. Home Free still has friendly connections with the former members of the group. Adam volunteered to become the beatboxer of the group since they didn't have one. He is a tenor. He started learning how to beatbox with a VHS tape teaching how to do it. He has definitely mastered the skill and has continued to add to his repertoire of sounds. Many drummers think his drum sounds are extremely realistic. He has actually learned to play the drums to improve his beatboxing. The next permanent member was Rob Lundquist, the lead tenor, who is the guy with a beard and glasses. Rob is from Minneapolis. He majored in music at the University of Minnesota. He has classical opera training. His professors actually encouraged him to consider being an opera singer as a career. He chose a different career path. He joined Home Free when the group was still part-time. He worked as a bartender when not singing with Home Free. Tim Foust, the bass, was the next permanent member. Tim joined the group temporarily for their first Christmas tour to promote his solo country album. Tim's patron in southern California had decided that Tim should pursue a career as a country singer. Tim was offered a permanent position in the group by Chris . He was willing to be a member of the group if it became full-time and it wasn't a requirement to live in Minnesota. Later Tim joined the group when he moved back to his home state of Texas from California. Tim has a five-octave range. Austin Brown, the high tenor, joined the group after Matt retired from the group. Austin is from south Georgia. He had a full college scholarship in musical theater. He met Home Free when they were guest performers on the cruise ship where he was a member of the ship's cast. He had previously been a member of The Sons of Liberty, an acapella group, at Disney. When Chris Rupp resigned from the group, he was replaced by Adam Chance who sings baritone and bass. Chance is not in this video. He is called Chance to prevent confusion with Adam Rupp. He is from Alabama. Chance became a part of the acapella world when he was recruited at the last minute to replace the bass of Street Corner Symphony, an acapella group. Street Corner Symphony had just won a spot on The Sing-Off for the second season but had lost their bass. They tried to recruit Tim Foust who refused because he had decided to quit music as a career at the time. Chance had attended college with one of the members of the group who contacted him. The group was the first runner-up in the contest. Chance was a member of that group for years until he later joined Home Free to replace Chris Rupp. Home Free has no lead singer. They are all capable of singing solos. Tim and Austin have solo videos on their channels. Home Free has collaborations with other outstanding artists such as Kenny Rogers, Don McLean on his fiftieth anniversary. version of American Pie, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Lee Greenwood to name a few.

Home Free was founded by the Rupp brothers, Adam (beatboxer) and Chris (cowboy hat in this) during college in 2000. There have been many members but the main members were set by 2013 when they were on the NBC show the Sing Off (which they won) in 2013. The only other change was when Chris Rupp left in 2016 to go solo and was replaced by Chance. Tim (bass) is from Texas. Austin (high tenor) is from Georgia. Chance (baritone) is from Alabama. Rob (tenor + glasses) is from Minnesota and Chris and Adam Rupp are also from Minnesota. Chris and Adam have arranged music and also their producer Darren Rust. Tim, Austin and Chance write a lot of their original music which is great. They sing all genres. Try Helplessly Hoping, In the Blood, One Man Band, Bless the Broken Road, Brothers in Arms. They are amazing and quite down to earth. Tim taught both Geoff and Avi to go lower. He has amazing range. They sung this on the Sing Off and Tim went lower. 😍 😄

They do a cover of End of The Road by BoyZ II Men. They do a very awesome version of How Gret Thou Art and check out Man of Constant Sorrow. It is amazing! They also have a lot of Originals. Tim Foust is the Bass, Austin Brown is the high tenor, Rob Lundquist is a tenor, Chris Rupp is a baritone and Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. Chris Rupp is no longer with group. He was replaced by Adam Chance. Please keep reacting to them, they won Season 4 of The Sing-Off. They are very good people, honest and caring and fun loving. Love your reaction!

I am not a pro and I am enjoying what I am learning from you. You are enhancing my ability to appreciate this music. So thank you for sharing your knowledge/skills. In order not to "write a book" in the youtube comments, I have decided to focus on Home Free today and list my favorites from them. Enjoy! Tim Foust (Hillbilly Bone and Will You Still Love Me/Stay--solo by Tim at his youtube channel) Austin Brown (When A Man Loves A Woman) Rob Lundquist (End of the Road) Adam Chance (Born In The USA) Home Free (Sea Shanty Medley, The Butts Remix, American Pie with Don Mclean, My Church, Unchained Melody.) Original songs: Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget and Cold Hard Cash For Christmas. And finally, something classical--to top it all off (at Austin Brown's youtube channel): Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera. This is only the beginning of the Wonderful World of Home Free music.

"End of the Road", "Man of Constant Sorrow", & "When a Man Loves a Woman" are some good ones to react to. Doing EOTR next would show you something different from them. And yes, the hard "r" is a country music/accent thing. Three of them have southern accents but they don't always use their them. It depends on the song. Thanks for reacting to Home Free. Home Free is the best a capella group for me. They are incredible! Each member has different but great voices, each with their own specialty. Besides that, they have great personalities, no rivals, no egos, real brotherhood and a lot of humor😅 Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original. More than almost 5 years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good beatboxing/vocal percussion and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode. Personally, I thought Avi fit better with Home Free than with PTX. But that's my opinion 😊 Listen to: "Man Of Constant Sorrow " "Brother In Arms " "End Of The Road "

Home Free are splendid! 'Man of Constant Sorrow' is unforgettable. Although this is an HF reaction, may I put in a plug for Avi's solo work? Since he left Pentatonix in 2017, he has created some fantastic, beautiful songs. He layers his own vocals to create a full and lovely sound. He's just released 'Healing' which is fantastic. Most people start with his 'Change on the Rise' - not just a great song but also a memorable video!

Thanks for your enthusiastic reaction. PLEASE review Do You Hear What I Hear? It is a complex arrangement by the beat boxer Adam Rupp and is a FEAST FOR THE EARS. There is sooo much going on in the background. Oh Holy Night is GORGEOUS in the music and location. I found HF listening to Pentatonix on YT. I soon fell in love with HF and hardly listen to PTX anymore. I find HF does more rich harmony and more complex arrangements. And, you are right about why we like these guys, they seem so down to earth. They started in Mankato, MN (my home state) about 2000 while in college by brothers Chris & Adam Rupp & friend Matt Atwood. Over the years the group had other members come & go. In 2013 HF won the Sing Off with this lineup except for Adam Chance who replaced Chris in 2016. Current members are: Austin (high tenor from Georgia), Rob (tenor & can sing any type of genre including opera, is from Minnesota), Tim Faust (5 octave tenor-bass from TX), Chance (baritone-bass from Alabama), & Adam (beat boxer/tenor from Minnesota). This will be a JOYFUL ride down the HF rabbit hole.

They've recently redone those songs and put out new videos for some of them. It is fun to see them then and now. They have a way of making us see how close they are to each other and make us all feel like we're included in one big family .

Thanks for your reaction & analysis. This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion. I've often thought Avi fit much better with Home Free's style of music than PTX.

Only one change of members since they won the Sing Off Season 4 in 2013. Founder Chris Rupp (brother of beatboxer Adam Rupp) went solo in 2016 and Adam Chance took up that 5th position. Chance's range is lower and provides an extra block on the harmony foundation. I still miss Chris's particular genius at arrangements. Home Free is my favorite of those "top three" groups. I knew they were the best in 2013, and IMO they are still the best, for continuity, balance, diversity, soul and passion. Friendship at its finest. Loved your comments!

New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and Stargazer Lilies trilogy: Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...Their latest releases are Might As Well Be Me, Playing With Fire, Remember My Name, Oh, Pretty Woman, Stand By Me, Cruise and Life is a Highway. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. The fact that replacing Chris with Chance didn't upset the balance is just short of miraculous. It did CAHNGE the balance, but it didn't ruin it. Now that you have done both ends of their history (this and Stand by Me), you can pick just about any song from their catalog that you want to. With the holidays coming up, I'm sure you will get suggestions for Do You Hear What I Hear, and O Holy Night, Angels we Have Heard on High, and I'll be Home for Christmas. Those are all "Chris" era videos, and excellent. More current ones are Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, a newer video of Silent Night from 2017, Snow Globe, Mary Did You Know, and their cover of What Christmas Means to Me. As for non-Christmas - just close your eyes and point.

You mentioned musical theater... Austin js from Georgia and studied musical theater in college, and has a outstanding version of Bring Him Home on his own channel (among other great music). Rob (bearded tenor with glasses) was a vocal performance major and is classically trained. Adam Rupp (beatboxer) studied trumpet in college, then taught himself how to play drums so his vocal percussion would be better. Both Rob and Adam are from Minnesota. Tim is from Texas and served as Austin's translator when he joined the group (because the Minnesota guys couldnt understand him!). Chance is from Alabama and sang bass in another aca group before joining HF.

Welcome to the HomeFree Rabbit Hole. We are the HomeFries, where HomeFree gets air time...we show up! You have just listened to the most talented, humble and down to earth group of guys in Acapella ! It is a deep and twisted Rabbit Hole with more than 300 videos to their credit! They sound "Country Strong " but they have songs in every genre. Ranging from Worship to Sea Shanty and everything in between. Rob and Austin even have a video for Opera, no joke real Opera! They are different from the other Acapella groups in the breakdown of the vocal dynamics. Most groups have 2 Tenor, 1 Bass, 1 Baritone and 1 Percussionist...HomeFree 's group of 5 breaks down to 5 Tenor, 2 Bass, 2 Baritone and what is the most accurate and talented Beatbox in the "Big 3". The Big 3 are HomeFree, Voiceplay and Pentatonics....the 3 most dominant groups in Contemporary Acapella. Started in 2000 by Adam Rupp-the Beatbox and his brother Chris Rupp who is no longer with the group. He left the group in 2016 to pursue other projects, he left with all the love, respect and best wishes of the group. After that Adam Chance (known simply as Chance to ease the confusion of having 2 Adam's in the group. You have so many directions that you can go especially with this week being Christmas! You can have your mind blown with " Do you hear what I hear ", you can go more traditional with "O Holy Night", or you can go really fun with "Full of Cheer"! Welcome my friend, we look forward to watching your mind slowly melting in disbelief at how amazing they are. I know that it sounds like just another over reaching fan but you will very quickly realize that I am just being realistic! I look forward to following your journey through the vast variety of both covers and original work. One amazing original that will give you a really good feel for HomeFree! ❤

There have been many changes thru the years. Adam (beatboxer)2000, Rob (glasses and beard tenor) joined 2008, Tim (bass) joined in 2012, Austin (high tenor) joined in 2013, Chris Rubb left in 2016, they added Adam Chance ( they call him Chance baritone/bass) joined in 2016. They all sing lead for a song then the producer decides on which version will be used. Their live shows is not just singing, They are funny. Tim's segment Story time with Tim started as a filler once when there was technical problems. Now it is requested at the shows.

Listen to some of their other great things... Try "Sea shanty medley" or their newer one "Skull and bones" for Ubisoft's video game. Another classic like this one would be "man of constant sorrow" After you listen to a few of these, then you can listen to "Mayday". But save that one for a bit so you know the guys and that one has a surprise. "Friends in low places" and for an original "Champaine taste on a beer budget".... If you really like Tim foust, after all this listen to "will you still love me tomorrow / Stay"
