There's just something so wonderful about the way that Home Free fills my heart with joy with their ability to interpret the song and make it their own while not taking away from the original. Their vocals reach right into my very being at times and I find myself amazed that they continue to do it every time. Just when you think "they can't surprise me anymore, they've done all they can" BAM!! They hit you with another chord, or run, or riff, or Adam hits you right between the eyes with his beats! I've become a Home Free addict, my day is not complete without my daily infusion and I don't want a vaccine or a cure! I want to ending infected forever! ❤

You said it just how I feel. These songs with deep emotional words, sometimes I don't get that when I listen to originals. As much as we all loved the classic John Denver, Country Roads, when Home Free slowed it down I actually hard the words and it moved me. Same with In the Blood by John Mayer, I was just listening to it for the umpteenth time. Home Free always sings the words so clearly and I can truly feel them with their arrangements. They are incredible, but Darren Rust, their producer/arranger (the sixth member of HF they call him) does things with their songs that just touch my soul, as you said. Thanks as always! Take care. Oh, and Chance's voice always moves me and cuts right into my heart any song he sings. He has that kind of voice!

I agree with you about how this song just reaches in and grabs you. The background vocals are so haunting, a perfect background for Chance to shine. This ballad is definitely suited for Chance. As I listened to this, I thought of 2 other songs that HF does with Chance having the lead. Not as haunting as this one, but still grabs you in the heart and soul.. Die a Happy Man and Yours. Thanks for your reaction to this song.

A lot of the time when people cover songs like this that are rooted in a really specific human experience, it's tends to go really well or really poorly. I think this was a great cover...as someone who's followed Jason Isbell's career for over a decade and seen him struggle with addiction and depression, and come out on the other end sober and a better man and full of so much love for his wife, this cover doesn't touch the original's rawness and magnitude IMO, but it's probably the best cover of it I've heard and that's high praise. Super happy for Chance and Sami, great reaction!

Something about HF always brings at least one emotion to the surface. You were right about this one - "i was meant for someone" just reached into a dark corner of the heart, stirring awake with that measured beat, the "drums", the "steel guitar", the outstanding harmonies all rising and falling...I could feel chance's determination to not leave that bed or that house... and they make it all sound so easy. 💙

Thank you for your reaction. You seem much more quiet, but its alright because that's how you're feeling right now. I agree there is really something truly special about the human voice. This was a very special song for Chance & Sami in the start of their relationship & he proposed on the 2 year anniversary of them getting together. Sami did all the filming of Chance's part for this video and I love the sun flares. Sami thought they were doing something cute for instagram so she was shocked by the proposal. Happy you're back.

Chance's voice is perfect for this song. He has the perfect combination of masculinity and vulnerability that he brings to everything he does. The others in the group have a toolbox of special talents, but Adam Chance's secret weapon is the purity of his tone.

It's funny but since I've started watching more and more A Capella music, I've come to realized just how much the instruments the other artists use, tends to over power and over shadow the singer and the lyric's. The guys backing chance was so chilling, and yet they did it without overpowering Chance, or the meaning of the lyric's. Chance really put his heart and soul into this song. Loved it!

Missed you, glad you're back. You made perfect sense to me. I listened to Jason's version before I listened to Home Free's. This HF cover speaks to me more than the Jason's; I think, like you said, it's the intensity that comes with just the human voices instead of instruments backing up the song.I found this to be moving and I'm glad you did too. Love your reaction, the way you shared how it affected you on a deep emotional level. Thanks for sharing that part of you.

My friend, I hope you will react to their cover of Meet in the Middle. It's an old, joyful love song, and you can watch Diamond Rio too, and it's a message we reall need right now. In a time when hate, outrage and anger is drowning out all the rest, we need to be reminded love always wins. Home Free ALWAYS chooses to shine a light, to share joy, to make us laugh or grieve with us. Other artists do not stay true to their values. This group does. If you can, react to their cover of What We Ain't Got...because America is headed their if we don't take heed. Thank you for your thoughtful reactions, your kindness, and a safe place to enjoy the common ground of music. I am a teacher of over 20 years, teaching our youngest, the mother of a fine young man of the greatest caliber who has chosen to be an officer, a wife, a Christian and I have been so downhearted lately looking at what is happening all around me. All I can do is carry a light inside, let it shine, and look for more lights in the darkness. You are one of them. Bless you.

I couldn’t agree with you more about Home Free and this song! I thought the same thing about it being haunting. Those slide guitar sounds, along with Chance’s lead vocals, and the subtle harmonies and even Adam’s barely there sound effects make this cover so good! It’s my new favorite! I love the story with the couple (real life actors couple). The icing on the cake was Chance’s proposal at the end, with Sami’s “What?” after! Priceless! Thank you so much for this reaction!
