Love the everyday problems that you are having with your saws! It makes me feel not so bad about all the crap that didn't run well for me!

I’ve had the throttle linkage rub the bottom of the filter causing idling issues..the boots are trash as well..carburetors are hit or miss too

Agreed. Had all of the same plus the crank o ring, seals etc. I’m done on the clones thanks to this saw. Just not worth having to rebuild a new saw for me

This. I’ve had several 365/372 throttle linkage issues on these clones. This video brought back trauma🤣

Oh, and if you did a base gasket delete, check to make sure the case halves at the front are totally flat and level, and also that the skirt isn't hitting the inside/bottoming out. But, the high sounded so good, that I doubt the base area is leaking. It would have been even more wonky than it is.

Yeah I agree it did sound pretty nice on the high end. I’m just not willing to put so much time and money into a new saw that never ran right

Oh, and I noticed your air filter flopping about quite a bit. The little rubber bit that holds the back of the air horn and the back of the carb should be replaced with oem too. They are really floppy. I'm not sure which Jonsred you have, but I bought a cheapo for 180 used about 5 years ago, and it kicks the blue saw's butt - and the blue saw is ported a little too. Good luck.

I feel your frustration had lots of problems with my 372 clone but I fixed it now my go to saw. Try to make a gasket in between the carb and the boot. Also look at the impulse were it goes thru the boot it might be kinked slightly I cut loop out of the boot so the impulse line is free. That fixed my carb being too lean issues.

Thanks for the suggestions! I did mess with the boot and didn’t have any air leaks there. The problem did kind of seem impulse related so I swapped the line. No joy. It’s a parts saw for now

Couple things, have you pressure tested the fuel line, fuel filter and also have you pressure and vac tested the saw?

  • @Man-Time

I appreciate the input. Sound trouble shooting advice. But the real question is : should you have to pressure and vac test a new saw to find out what’s wrong with it?

Don't chuck it yet ... heh heh. The oem carb sounds good. I think 2 things happened. 1 the rings are seating making it run a little leaner. 2) It is sucking air on the crank side a little. Replace both seals with oem, and put that little o ring on the pto side. Check out Donny Walker - he just went through the same thing. I think yours sounds good on the high end with the muffler mod and base gasket delete. I'd put crank seals and o ring. You are almost there - heh heh.

When I got my G372 the high was set at 10 and the low was 8 from the factory so no way it would ever run. I set both at 1 1/4 then first pull it ran but both vibrate out so much when running it's useless

I think it has an aer leek, maybe the small oring on clutch side under the sleeve.

@@Man-Time I checked it out yesterday! Yeah, if I could only keep one saw, I think your ported 2071 would be it! Those things are just great old school solid saws. Great size too, not too heavy. And your port work looked really good! I love that you have a lathe and cut squish down from 32 to 22 or wherever it ended up. I don't have a lathe, and would have been happy with the 32 ... heh heh. Now, get back to haying ... just kidding! Thanks!

Pressure/vac test the saw and buy an oem carb or used carb.

  • @scottfoster2487

The Xtorq carbs were junk in oem as well. A 390 intake a carb makes a 372 run better. The sad thing is they are masss producing so many models of the same saw they tend to miss major design flaws of the oem. All you buy when yo buy from this company is a assembled parts saws ,sad they charge so much for junk. Neo tec does not have to many models but what they do is focus on quality.

Yeah you def get to test your patients with a Clone saw. I hate to say to keep throwing OEM parts at the saw but another channel I follow had similar issues with a small air leak and it was the intake boot. He said the G372 boot looked fine but the rubber flange (that smooshes between the carb and the throttle cable holder deal-e-o) was too thin. He put an OEM boot on the saw and she ran fine...

I did spray down and found a small leak at the boot but fixed it and tested before showing the running. This saw has deeper issues. I did order a new boot but it will go toward an OEM saw if needed. This saw is going in a parts pile
