Buy one and don't look back. I was on the fence back and forth for over a year, finally pulled the trigger and got my first orange 372 with a "rippa" dual port muffler the other day. Did some minor carb tuning on the first start, adjusted the bar oiler to match the 20" bar I put on it. Packaging is very good. The manual is great super detailed. Comes with tool kit and mixing can. I will DEFINITELY be buying many more soon!

Now I have a hyway bigbore with pop up on my bench getting a little porting. The hyway transfers are noticeably bigger than the stock farmertec. And I got lucky with the carb on mine. It’s been flawless. I always keep a couple oem carbs in my ebay watch list just in case though.

I finally got my Holzfforma 372 from China and I am very impressed with it. The cylinder plating is great. Only thing I don't like with it is the transfer ports are really small and I don't have a right angle tool to make them any bigger. The rest of the parts are really nice. The cases are nice. It has that cheap handle but I got a full wrap oem handle so I don't care.

interesting video, thank you! I just took delivery on an orange Holzfforma 372xp from and ebay seller. First thing I did was tear it down pretty much to test fastener torque and examine all the parts. I never even started it up first. Fasteners were good, only a couple of over tight bolts and that was worrying me because I saw a cylinder bolt break off when another YT channel did a disassembly. The one thing that bothered me is that there was a black/silvery awful look to the oil coating the internals. I cleaned thoroughly, rinsed out the crankcase numerous times with napthalene and blew it our then reoiled bearings. The piston was very scored on the intake port area, my guess is cylinder burrs on the intake port. I think it would still run ok but all that grit sure can't have done a good thing. I had a big bore Hyway kit on hand from Wolf Creek saw shop so I just did a swap right on the spot. I have an aftermarket crank too but looking at the crank in this saw it looked good, resisted a file on the rod and journals so I decided to just run this bugger and see how it goes. The rest of the saw is impressive, no flimsy crappy build, everything fits nicely and has a great looking finish, well refined. I did order an OEM bar adjuster because this Chinese unit is junk, turns very rough or not at all and I even disassembled, cleaned and greased it to try and help out. I replaced the impulse tube because it was really flimsy tubing that did not impress me as good for a long life. I also installed and OEM comp release and a genuine NGK plug because spark plug counter fitting over there is rampant. Lastly I drilled out the exhaust port and brazed in a piece of 1/2 inch emt tubing, more than twice the area for exhaust flow now. I waited a long time, just could not trust that it would be money well spent. I am a believer at this point, well see how the saw actually works now, that will take some time to establish the true level of durability and quality but I am very optimistic at this point.

Harvey, I have a couple older Farmertec saws that I have run the begeebees out of. I have 32" bars on both with CJ chains. Many of the trees I fall are 20" to 48". The only issue I've had with either saw was the junk Chinese carbs. Both are 372's and they run and cut every bit as good as my Husqvarnas. Weather they will last as long or not is doubtful but it's a $300 saw. This will be their 3rd cutting season so they have already paid themselves off and still kicking.

I built a Farmertec 372 XP kit two years ago for my 50th anniversary gift to my self. 🤪. I have not had a lick of problems with it. It starts easy and runs good. Mine had an Italian piston and cylinder in it, which is what it came with. I did add the tall air filter and cover (XT) to it, but that was it. I did put an original Walbro carb on it. I run it with my standard Stihl Ultra 50:1 mix in it with no problems. I do run 84 ml per gallon of Stihl Ultra which is a 45:1 mix ratio.

Someone may have already mentioned this Harvey but this is the new pro version. Walbro carb, metor piston caber rings, Italy tech cylinder, ngk plug. Lot of good upgrades. You should use every that came with it so we can see how that lasts. I definitely wouldn’t bother swapping the crank.

Oh a bit of my background retired mostly still love tinkering. With motors. My grandfather taught me all I know about logging tree felling bucking cranes cat d 8 dozers truck driving and lots of usefully things. I learned on my own how to build engines transmissions exc. As well as working on my own saws. I know use my saws for competitions firewood and just ordonarythings. But there nothing like a soupedup sawto cut up a tree in four hours. Makes it so much easier. To uses light small saw than a big heavy saw like the old magnum 888 my grandpa also had the old two man saw hand as well as his own homebuilt version of a lawnmower chainsaw man at both ends we used for cutting the huge trees. I think it was an old Kohler motor that he built on a platform with chain and it was clutched and I believe it was like a 15 horse motor. But anyway it was plenty heavy to say the least. It did the job though. Hope to meet up someday.

Nice looking saw although I prefer orange or blue myself. I was torn between this and the ms660 so I got the 660 for the extra ccs to run 32" bar. I put meteor piston and caber rings in it. Was a little worried about the circlips that came with the meteor piston with the big double ears on them. They were easy to put in with snap ring pliers but I'm a little worried they might fly out of there. Any thoughts on those circlips? Also the meteor piston was 94 or 95g vs 85 or so for the farmertec. I remember what you said about the piston weight but felt like the meteor one was machined a little better, maybe stronger metal? The 660 runs great it was rich as all get out spewing oil out of the muffler which had me worried until I got it buried into some big oak it cleaned up just some soot after that. Started around 32:1 going 40:1 next gallon I mix up. Thanks for posting.
@DaveyBlue32
2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you are doing great buddy! The quality of the Meteor piston definitely is worth that little additional weight…it’s still a shag lighter then the OEM piston! The quality of material is definitely worth a little bit of additional weight. Sounds like you have been doing your homework! 40:1 is good if you run an hour at a time if you are really going at it for a couple hours at a time that little bit more of 32:1 like if you are milling a log into boards or slabs is really worth the additional oil. Remember that you only have a chain speed of 11k tops! I keep my saw’s tuned with no load at 11,800 or right at 12k… they are really rich! I’ll check my muffler port window in 6 months or a year… spinning super high rpm’s it’s needed the way I cut… keep your chain razor sharp…touching up when you need more fuel is way better than killing a chain and running it until it’s super dull… keep your fins blown off and clean and tap out your air filter after you run it all day… cleanliness makes saw’s live a long time… go around it on a rain day and retighten every single bolt… even if you need to pop your clutch to torque your case bolts…over it’s first year it’ll loosen some up…if you find one loose you want some blue lock tight on that one going back down to snug… 👍😁

I have done 2 g372xp blue saws since Christmas did a hyway big bore on one and new west big bore on the other both ported with a ironhorse style muffler. Running 8t sprocket and 24" bars. Both saws are beasts in the cut and so far have been 100% reliable. The big bore ported g660 I did is a beast now I am waiting on a g288 to arrive for the same treatment.

Only thing I don't like with it is the transfer ports are really small and I don't have a right angle tool to make them any bigger. The rest of the parts are really nice. The cases are nice. It has that cheap handle but I got a full wrap oem handle so I don't care.
I just had my G288 in wood yesterday. Its not bad. Im happy so far
Man that is a good looking saw
Great looking saw! I’d love to own a monster like that!
The 660 pro is 450 right now on Amazon, it's a third of a 395xp etc. I planned on one in a year or so , after a ea 7900, I might have to jump on this. Great video , thank you.
Love it Ironhorse. Those are some sweet lookin saws. Definitely stand out. Can't wait to see you tear into that carb to see if is actually a Walbro and you opinion on the saw as a whole when you tear it apart. Love ya Buddy. 🌲❤🌲👊🪓
Awesome saw man!!!!!
interesting video, thank you!
That’s a good saw I like it. These pros are a big improvement. If you need parts for those saw get a hold of Rocky Mountain chainsaws. We was just talking about how you have been working on these saws for a long time. We like your channel.
That is a good looking saw. Don't know anything about them but darn it sure does look like it would cut a bunch of wood. I 🔥
Thanks for the video content. You're my new favorite old pirate.. 😂
awesome sounds ok . peace an love from scotland stu an family
Nice lookin saw!!!!
That’s a good lookin saw!
I want it nice looking ! I haven't had a brand new saw since I was 12
For being a knock off that saw doesn’t look half bad. Love the vids!!!
I have the g660 for a few years now. The handle and fuel cap has been the only things that have broken on it. I keep a 32in bar on it. I think it took 6 or 7 pulls to get it running the 1st time. After that usually the 2nd pull it's running.
That thing looks sweet
Looks sweet
I just found your show and I am totally amazed. As an engineer, I want to learn from your experience and wisdom.

Welcome aboard!

Nice to hear ,ya the bar and chain cost more than the saw?
I built a Farmertec 372 XP kit two years ago for my 50th anniversary gift to my self. 🤪. I have not had a lick of problems with it. It starts easy and runs good. Mine had an Italian piston and cylinder in it, which is what it came with. I did add the tall air filter and cover (XT) to it, but that was it. I did put an original Walbro carb on it. I run it with my standard Stihl Ultra 50:1 mix in it with no problems. I do run 84 ml per gallon of Stihl Ultra which is a 45:1 mix ratio.
Sure is a nice looking saw, would love to see it cutting

Great idea!
That's awsome your gonna do a build for a subscriber harvey from what I've seen that version has most of the kinks ironed out
Bought a 660 about a year ago. Only thing I've done is the chain tensioner. For the price I can't complain. Originally bought as a learning tool for porting. Given how it runs, I'm going till in needs to be rebuilt. Couldn't justify oem price for what I'm doing. Currently used for firewood and milling.
I'd love for you to see my old 372xp. Its stamped 99 and never been worked on and I still pull a 32 inch bar. Just a home gamer but I still do a decent amount of trees on and off the property
Echo and husky with that air filter setup is the best in my opinion..
I knew I'd see one of these on your channel soon
I got g365xp. An the g372xp. Iv probably cut 20 cords. With them only problem I had with both was fule coming out if the breather . I fixed it. by putting the oem 372xp x torque. Fule vent in the tank problem fixed.
I just ordered one of those in the g660 pro model to run a 36" bar on a chainsaw mill. Hopefully it works out well.

Hows it holding up
7 pulls ah ah ah . Been thinking abt getting one myself. Got one other one got get taken care of had built first. Hopefully get to building some myself some day.
i live in canada near vancouver bc, im a west coast faller. i really really like your shows and your knowledge, im always in a great mood after i watch your shows, im unique i guess cause i still prefer and use husky 2100s. anyways i hope u can build one of my saws up for me
Ive been looking at the new hydra dipped, im definitely in the market to get one..
Looking forward to this build. Very good analysis on the high prices of beat up eBay saws. I’d much prefer to work on a new saw that needs a few upgrades vs a junk saw that needs everything. But I’ll choose the cheaper option all day. Maybe that’s the g372 pro?

It sure is!
Maybe I should buy their version of the 461. My brother hauled load 17 of logs yesterday and saw the road was posted so no more hauling for awhile. Next week will be warmer so probably done in the woods soon anyway. On the 8.3 Cummins swap still wonder if we should test run the engine before installing into the L8000
I keep thinking I wanna get one of those. I’m not sure how long it would stay stock but they do look pretty cool.
Hello there Ironhorse! Nice to meet ya Buckin sent me over!
That'd sure help getting wood for grandpa this year...bugger decided to retire way outta town so we gotta deliver 😜 hahaha
I appreciate you showing this, I would love to have a ironhorse saw. I wish we made an American saw, I understand if it's all you can afford. I personally wish we would quit importing from China all together.

I agree with the importing Zach
This is the saw I need and want. I have a Pollaun 40cc and it's just not enough.
I’ve been using Amsoil 2cycle for over 30 years falling in the west Coast on big Douglas firs pine Blackhawk never have I had a problem my other oil that I have used for the same 30 years when I couldn’t get Amsoil because they were out of stock I’d use optimal2 which I love also
I’m thinking of buying one of those myself. They seem to be decent saws
its going be intresting follow this build
Iron horse! I’d love to buy this saw once you’ve finished! I’m not sure where to find your email, so I figured I’d try here. This would be a perfect machine to use here in Maine.
Hey Harvey how are you doing hope everyone is doing well that shure is a good looking clone something with potential when you do your thing to it
Nice 👌 👋 👌
I would like also to see a neo tech saw on your shop
I have a Husqvarna 365 special , I Love it it's very fast !!
I run Amsoil saber also. I could be wrong but, I really feel like useing it is the only reason my top handle diden't explode while I was modifying and learning how to tune that thing. No idea what i was doing and running it way way way too lean.
Would love to have it when its done
That's gonna be a runner when he's done with it
Harvey, i believe those things have legit Walbro carburetors since Walbro has factory in Tianjin in PRC(China) and manual said Tianjin Walbro carburetor. Im getting one of those g372pro soon to see how good they are.
Amsoil is good oil. I like run the Lucas 2 cycle oil.
I will buy that saw sawrus Trees-R-Us Oregon
Brother Ironhorse , just sent that beauty on down here to Virginia and I'll work it like Bucking work an axe , been trying to get up with you to have you do some work for me
I’ve been interested in these
Heck yeah sounds like a deal!

UNCLE HARVE!, I saw them on their sight there all polished up fancy lol, I cant believe the bottom end is holding in mine, hyway jug(bb) and pop up, caber, ported right it decent like...opened that little tiny exit hole it's a runner but I didn't touch the bottom and that was couple years ago now
I just bought one 👍
I'll buy it!
I was running an old home l 650 it's was huge only 24 in bar but it was giger than vw
I've been wanting to buy one of those but wanted an honest and professional opinion before I did. Now I've got it from this video. If you want to sale it, let me know where to send the money to.
I've got the 372xp 2 years ago and the only problem has been a carb
I’m certain that it will be a reliable ripper when Harv is done with it I would love to win that saw. How do I go about sending you a saw for you to build I am in need of some iron horse iron 💪🏻
Hey Harvey what do you think of the neotec saws on Amazon I see they are coming out with a 372 also, they are orange and dark gray sharp looking unit
Oh man how I'd love to have a 372 I have a Holtzfforma G660 and I plan on using for milling but it's just a general use saw as of now
Nice looking saw although I prefer orange or blue myself.

I bought the 066 pro version but it's coming the whole way from Taiwan or wherever via donky and dolphin I guess because it's been 5 weeks and I still haven't seen it yet.
Would of been nice to set a tach on that before the adjustments to see how it was tuned to begin with.
It may be a walbro carb but not oem quality. I ordered one of the farmertec walbro carb for my g660 the unbranded carb that came with the saw worked better. I have done 2 g372xp blue saws since Christmas did a hyway big bore on one and new west big bore on the other both ported with a ironhorse style muffler. Running 8t sprocket and 24" bars. Both saws are beasts in the cut and so far have been 100% reliable. The big bore ported g660 I did is a beast now I am waiting on a g288 to arrive for the same treatment.
makes me want to give you my 888 with one start on it to make a nice work saw out of lol
Hey there I was just wondering what you would recommend for a carb for the g372 xp farmertec. Thanks for the great videos.
I can tell that the carb is NOT Walbro and the plug isn't NGK, and I'm 99% sure the cylinder, piston, and rings are also NOT. I know
I want one!
I may buy one I need a saw for a larger bar when I do encounter large diameter trees here on east coast I think 25 28 inch would do just fine as a part time logger and fire wood processor I wonder if it would hold up
👍👍👍👍
I'm waiting for it to be a kit. I want to assemble it....
Waldron has factories in us. China Thailand Japan and Mexico.
Heck yeah totally agree holzfforma are the best for gearheads. Much cheaper to get and like you said you can build it to what you want and ive had really really good luck with there cylinders. Honestly seems to be stronger then hyway witch is kinda depressing for the price difference 😂
👍
ive been looking at those since they come out and i just dont know if i wanna get one lol
I find it so cool that you run amsoil sabe 40:1 so do i!!!
