Look up some of the interviews with Tommy from the last few years regarding his faith journey. If you know his previous background w/ sleeping giant and the charismatic/Pentecostal movement and hear what led him out of that you’ll understand the lyrics more. I had a very similar experience coming out of there and was recently received into the Orthodox Church. That’s why I made the comment.

@@LRM5195 no one “refuses” to say it, they just don’t because they’re singing about other things and a direct mentioning of Jesus name is not necessary for glorifying Him. So what if others don’t say it, absolutely no one aside from miserable fundamentalists really care.

@@LRM5195 because I’ve been hurt by this faith and I’m reactive. I’m sorry. But people are allowed to reference Him without His name. That’s the point of music; expressing ideas in a more ambiguous, spiritual and descriptive manner. If the lyrics were just “Jesus” over and over again, then the songs would be pretty boring. I’m trying to understand all this nuance and theological complexity and why Christians seem to condemn everything and it’s killing me. I just want to find peace again. Idk exactly what anyone means when they talk christianese. It just sounds like condemnation. I just feel like a fake Christian because no matter how much hope I have in Jesus, it always seems to be squashed by feelings of condemnation and legalism. I don’t understand a lot of what others say so I argue a lot. Because I’m a pretentious person and I just felt like he was condemning people who just choose not to sing directly about Jesus Christ. Idk I’m very hurt and very prideful. I’m sorry I want to understand how to have faith with depression addiction and hurt that I’m not ready to grow from yet.

I've been watching a lot of videos on Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism and how every sect of Christianity believes they have the monopoly on the path to salvation and the proper way to worship. The commenter made the point of telling people to go to an Orthodox church to worship, as if they know the only way to worship. HolyName has great music, but doesn't sound anything in line with the Orthodox form of worship, which is why I asked.

Don’t be hard on yourself about the divorce and I’m sorry the people that should be there for you aren’t. What a horrible feeling and those people should be ashamed of themselves.
