There was a time when I would speak like I was there
Under the light of absolution and repair
But here in the fallout I can see where I went wrong
Playing Judas in the dark under my song
Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass
Black stained glass
There was a fire when I was young that took my life
And now I am left just praying death would take me twice
Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass
Black stained glass
And I won't justify this dark and light in one
For all deception said and done
Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb
And for the wreck that I've become
Through black stained glass
All my purities pale under the veil
of black stained glass
Black stained glass

I love when Demon Hunter does these kinds of songs. It's always a friendly reminder their gentler side is just as wonderful and engaging as the side that's screaming at you.

@@AndrewDembouski What a naive thing to say. Ya know, I hope you don’t ever have to relate to this song. Things aren’t always as they seem. Just because the song doesn’t sound heavy, doesn’t mean its lyrics aren’t. God bless you, I pray Jesus works on your heart man. We could all use Him.

The second verse about the fire broke me. I was 10 and almost died in a house fire. My mother saved my life. She later died of a drug overdose. I was numb and on anxiety meds many years later for almost 10 years. I am a singer myself. Demon Hunter has made me cry quite a few times. I am also Christian and love Jesus Christ. God bless. ❤

I'm 17. I've hated myself for the majority of my life while plauged with a hellish guilt because of the evil I've done. My formative years were apart from God. Seperation from God is also know as hell. One day, after having done this shameful thing I had done routinely, I fell down on my hands and knees and cried out to God. I begged for forgiveness, and to be freed from my shame and addiction. Jesus has changed me from the inside out. I have found that peace He promised. I am cleansed by His blood. No matter where you are in life, know that Jesus wants to meet you where you are. He loves you in ways you can't comprehend. Demon Hunter, if you see this, I want to thank you. Your music helped me through my pain. I've been brought to tears by your musicany times. Heck, I'm about to cry right now. I just want to say thank you.

Wow, those opening lines… I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that those lines struck right to the core of my soul. What a beautiful way to describe the fears and doubts we have as Christians. Demon Hunter truly is a gift from God. Your music and message is beautiful, and you are part of what lead me to converting to Christianity. Thank you for all that you do.

Ive been a fan from the first moment I bought their first album in 2002. As a christian who struggles at times with doubt, with my own sin, walking that line, that battle between light and dark that takes place in myself in and the world, this band has meant so much to my walk. Thank you. As always just when I fell in a rut, Demon Hunter releases a track that perfectly captures what I'm feeling. God knows exactly how to get my attention when I'm being stubborn.

I was at a music festival in 2002 and bought an album based off a recommendation by Solid State Records vendor. It was a newcomer to the label and I have not heard anything about this band yet. I was immediately entranced by it and the members who used stage names at the time. 22 years later and not one song ever gets skipped. I can't say that for any other band I listen to besides Norma Jean. Associates of mine from all walks life will come across Demon Hunter and then ask me if I ever heard of them. Well yes, I have. Credit where credit is due. Talented, steadfast and devoted. So few bands have ever gone so far for so long and so well, especially in this genre.

The immediate silence of the music at 2:24 is so chilling! Honestly, this song has the same remorseful feel as The Tide Began To Rise. "If this is all the love my spirit can give, there is not a reason more to live" "and I won't justify this dark and light in one... Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb..." There's so much power in the emotion of the song without any volume. It's so remorseful and yet, peaceful. I like it alot

This song sounds like a hangover, the moment of clarity when the alcohol releases its grip and the blood pumps like a pounding beat and you realize how effed up you are. The palpable regret and shame, the need for change if only you could muster the courage and strength to do so. The glimmer of hope that seems so far away, but all you need to do is reach and that holy hand will pull you up out of the pit.

The apostles were skinned alive, beheaded, crucified upside down for refusing to deny Jesus. All of them met violent deaths. Paul prayed to be free of his mortal flesh. Jesus never said it would be sunshine and rainbows in this life. "Pick up your cross and follow me". I'd encourage you to reconsider all of that. He takes what was meant for evil and turns it around for good.

But when you feel like this remember that God knows your heart, he knows everything you think and feel. He knows what your going through, he knows your struggling. He knows true evil thoughts from just frustration. He will have mercy on you. I've been struggling to love my enemies lately and I hope God understands I'm just tired of being messed with all the time. But above all don't ever turn your back on him.

I've been a fan since Summer of Darkness! I love the variety of music that DH does. This song has really resonated with me and I have listened to it easily 100 times in the past few days. The truth in this song is deep and most surface followers of Jesus will interpret it entirely incorrectly. I have followed Jesus since November 1987 and there are many days when I feel like I am alone in this world. "Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb; And for the wreck that I have become" hit home so much as I have devoured this song. I love this band and I pray they make music for decades to come!!

Love Demon Hunter and their songs. This song is so incredible. This song reminds me that I can be a Judas at times. I'm so grateful for GOD's mercy and grace. You all are incredible. What a blessing you all are to others.

Truly a song that has me shocked. Such a soft melody but hard lyrics. Now I’m here sitting in my car wiping tears away. They can do it all. DH has hit us with just another masterpiece of a song that honestly just makes you think about yourself about life and who you’ve become. Thank you for this touching piece

As an atheist, listening to this gave me tears. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and when the going gets tough, I always end up going back to your music to seek harmony and inner peace.

I normally prefer the heavier tracks from DH, but this one is one of the hardest hitting I've ever experienced. Definitely a keeper. Thank you, Demon Hunter

I'm so glad Killing Floor 2 introduced me to DH. If not for that game, Collapsing wouldn't have been my ringtone for over a year, seeing them live the few times I could while going through a really rough depressive state after losing someone i onced loved. It was Demon Hunter that came to my rescue and knew i had a purpose in life... Now life couldn't be better. Thank you brothers. Amen. 🙏
