Maybe you don't want to swear in English yourself, but you want to know more about the origins of swear words in English and why and how we use them?
Then the book Holy Sh*t: A brief history of swearing by Melissa Mohr is definitely for you.
In today's review, I'll tell you what I think of the book, a bit about swearing in English, and I'll tell you some of my favourite stories from the book as well.

As for swearing in my language...umm... I'm Greek and there's this word in the Greek language: "Malaka(s)" which actually means..."wanker" *BUT!!* It can be used...by anyone...at any place (almost)... and can kind of mean anything.. •You can actually call your friend like that.. •You can use it by.. its actual meaning •You can use it as an insult (obviously) ETC ETC
This was kinda hard to go through cause I don't like swearing. It was an interesting video tho. I like it.
I don't swear, yet I find your video interesting and funny
This gives a whole different perspective on the taunting Frenchman from Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail; "I fart in your general direction." xD Also, as for racial slurs, another one from northern Canada is Eskimo - this is highly offensive to the Inuit people, and sadly a word found in some infamous Christmas songs.
I like swearing when I got mad! Mostly people swear a lots mostly honest people
That is quite interesting to know the history of swearing. However, in Arabic, the worst one would be swearing someone's mother or sister. Also, The word "sharmota" which is equivalent to bitch considered the most harsh one.
Very interesting video. I'm a portuguese speaker from Brazil, I don't know much about the history of our swearing words, though I assume it's somewhat similar to English, because of the roman/European origin of the language. One thing that differs is the racial slurs, like "negro" for an example, it's a sensitive word, but it's not so much of a taboo and it's not unusual to see white people referring to blacks as negros (and it's other variations) depends on the context.
Hi Pete Thank you very much. I have another suggestions for you. Can you please get part of Australian TV Series and describe words and phrases they are use in conversation. There is American KZread Chanel like that and I found it quiet interesting way to learn natural English conversation. FYI please check this KZread channel. Learn English with TV series
*WHAT DID I JUST WATCH??* Just kidding 😂 Great and pretty interesting video...and....out of the ordinary.... Keep it up 👍👍
Haha that was so funny and interesting! I kept twitching at every bad words you were saying so I suppose I'm overly polite even if English isn't even my first language 😂
For me if you are working on a project that is not going so good it is more cost & time effective to swear than to destroy the project and start again besides swearing is stress relief
Swearing gives me a deep, visceral satisfaction in any of the 5 languages I speak. It appears others feel the same way as I do, for example swearing doesn't exist in modern Hebrew, and for that reason all the Arabic swear words are being borrowed and used (so they can agree on something...LOL). I am being told it's not "lady-like" and I agree, however it makes me feel so good, I am not giving it up...lol. Cheers! Great vid
Hi, Pete! How is it going? I love your videos... Congratulations! I am Brazilian and I'll study in Brisbane in September, so I would like to know if you could make a video talking about inches because I am a seamstress and here we use another kind of measurement chart. Thanks
Was searching for the e-book on web couldn't found does someone have it?

No language swears better than Cantonese
Fucking interesting!! Sorry, no offence. I think people who learn languages tend to use swear words in the beginning that's why it's really interesting to these kind of people like me.

O my god is not swearing! It's asking for god's help.
