Does that mean Afrikaans is just informal Dutch, or French is just informal Latin, or even that Armenian is just informal Proto-Indo-European? You ignore that what's considered 'standard' is decided politically, not how language actually works. Languages are unequaled standard because of where they seem to originate from - but, if this pluricentric language has multiple differences in grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary or even more, what inherently makes one 'true' and the rest 'aberrant' ?

I say: Barbie ("I'm chucking the barbie on for dinner") Brekkie ("Eat your brekkie") Arvo ("It's gonna be hot this arvo") Sunnies ("I lost me f***ing sunnies") Sickie ("Yeah, I'm chucking a sickie today") Maccas ("Wanna go for a maccas run?") I've heard people say mate and roo but I don't use it. No idea what a lippie or a chewy is. it's just lipstick and gum. I say skippy for a kangaroo / wallaby.
