Amazing. So gratifying to know what one can aspire to.

When I saw a demo on Fiddleshop, I fell in love with the tone and wished to purchase it. However, looking at the custom fees and tax when it came to importing into the UK (with a Holstein 2 star bow), it totaled to £253! Though being able to invest in this beautiful instrument, I'm hesitant to submit these extra fees in order to have it. Regardless, I appreciate the review Alison thank you.

I dont recall. Also, I was sent quite a few violins in one go. Email the Fiddlerman, mention me and he may be able to help you.

@@TheOnlineViolinTutor ah, well okay. Thanks, can you give me a estimate answer please because I asked fiddlermen team but they have no clue about it, they say it depends on the country... So all I wanted to know whether if it too expensive like if the violin costs me $1000 will they charge me £200 ? Is there any place or offce I can call and ask ? Please help me I'm planing to buy a violin from Fiddlermen.. thanks.. Happy New Year!

@@rolingstongomes3914 Honestly, I couldn't even guess! I was sent a lot of violins (10 or so), so even if i said the customs fee was £5,000 (an arbitrary number here) it would be totally irrelevant to you who would be buying only 1 violin. You best bet is to have a look on the HM customs and duty site as it will say what we pay for customs there.

No really, as bows are 100% dependant on the person. All I can say is that for $500 you will get a good bow as you get what you pay for but as for makes and brands etc, it doesn't work like that with bows. Even the best bow in the world could play and feel like utter garbage to be as it depends solely on my playing style, how I grip the bow and my violin. What I like, you may hate and vice versa. I would suggest you try out a bunch in your price bracket and blind test them. I did a video on this just over a year ago: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5Vm1c2Adsi2gM4.html It is showing you how I go about choosing/chose a bow for one of my online students who needed help in. buying a bow. As long as you have a bunch in your price range, you then blind test them playing various things as then pick the one you like the best. You have to blind test as its all to do with feel and playability and that is literally so different for each and every person. I can 100% guarantee that if i told you to get 'xx' bow, you would absolutely hate it as I play differently to you, and prefer a different weight and feel of the bow. This is why I personally feel people shouldn't ever recommend bows and they should let the player choose from a bunch themselves. Not much help lol, sorry.

They are quite similar, but the Holstein has a lot of other variations that the Soloist doesn’t. I was just sent one of the Holstein Traditional violins. The others have different sounds and tones to them that might appeal more.

Hi Alison, I would love to know your opinion between this violin (Holstein Traditional Cannone) and the Fiddlerman Master Outfit, since to me they have the same tone signature and those are my 2 options for buying. Hope you can help me :)

The Holsteins are in a totally different league to the Fiddlermans. They are far higher up and much better all round. Better wood, better made, better everything as they are designed and made a replicas in a way. Cant really compare the two like that.

Yes the Holsteins are in a league of their own. They are deffo more your professional violins for sure. The Fiddlermans are good - dont get me wrong, but the Holsteins are based on your more traditional violins from back in the day (1700s etc), so you going to get a lot more from them and a lot more flavour and complexities.
