Hold a fire without getting burned?! Anevay Horizon REVIEW
I've had the Horizon stove by Anevay for some time now. So i dragged it on a 1,000 mile road trip with the familiar to get familiar with it.

I will be doing a cooking video for the Anevay. The great thing about the high (thin) flame is that with a pan on top it spreads around the pan well offering quite an even heat. Thanks for finding me!
I've had one for a few years now and love it. It's ideal for the beach and cooking on. I like using it with a flat bottom wok.

Cool stove! The only problem with these wood stoves is that they tend to soot up the pans. A little trick I learned in the boy scouts in the 1980's was to cover the outside of the pot in fairy liquid... then the soot wipes straight off! Keep up the good work 🙂

I’ve been told of this trick but never had the opportunity to use it. What I will say about this particular stove is that it had minimal soot. Though I was lucky enough to find excellent wood to use.

@@OffTheBeatenPot Some people do the same thing, but with cooking oil, but I've not tried that. Personally, I think soot builds character! 🙂

I hope you had a great time in the Lakes. Maybe an idea for a video, there is / was a phase of people cooking on greaseproof paper. I have seen your video on how to season a pan, but would the paper also help in keeping the pan clean, and / or is there another recyclable option? Or how about the same video showing how to clean cook sets after a messy meal, keeping to LNT principles, how far away from water sources etc. Also many thanks for your informative videos.

That’s a great idea. There was a phase also of cooking breakfast in a paper bag wasn’t there! Grease proof paper isn’t something I’ve used outdoors. I’m not sure on the faff to result ratio. That said, I love your idea of cleaning after a terribly burnt on meal. Thanks!

Hello Leopold, nice to ‘meet’ you. I have seen the x fire stoves but cannot say I’ve used them. I’m not sure how easy they are to buy in the UK. And my wallet doesn’t need another battering on a shiny new toy! 😂
