    That bully story hit home for me. I was picked on by the same guy in primary school relatively regularly. I had told my parents, who had informed the school on more than one occassion, but it still carried on. Apparently the excuse from the headteacher was that my bully "came from a troubled family". My Dad told me to hit him back and that as long as it wasn't me who started it, then he'll back me up. Which he did. One day in the playground at school, my bully started on me for no reason and I snapped. He never did it again after that. Violence is the only language that they understand.

    The Bully story is the biggest Dad energy I've seen from North yet. My dad always taught me the same thing because i was skinny and timid as a kid. He told me that Bullies arent looking for a fight, they're looking for a victim. Even if you know you'll lose, fight back every time and they will leave you alone.

    Bullies only understand bullying. If you deal with that shit FAST then you won't have a Brian situation. I am a former prison guard, at least if you fight back or initiate the fight then you can respect yourself and others won't mess with you. Kindness isn't weakness.

    North, the bullying conversation can be summed up by what we yanks say as “Fuck Around and Find Out”. It’s a simple linear equation where the more one “fucks around” the more one will “find out”. We need more men with courage and virtue to do what’s right even at cost to themselves. Simple as.

    In America bullying is dangerous for the entire school, because thats how revenge school massacres start. It happens alot. So when they bully they put the lives of everyone at risk, students and teachers.

    I was picked on by a group of 5-8 lads. I reported it several times but was told just to ignore them, then one day they surrounded me at the back of the field and started pushing me getting me into headlocks and calling me names. I went into preservation mode and beat 3 of them (including the group leader). He then went and reported me to the teacher. Who pulled me out of my next class called my parents in and tried to get me suspended. Will never forget her face when my dad heard the full story and turned around to me and said 'Well done'. He followed up as a teacher himself self (He was head of the department at the local university). The school should be ashamed for not dealing with it when I had reported the bullying and if they suspended me he would be reporting to the local authority. And if I ever find myself in that place again I have his full backing to defend myself. The teacher went quiet after that and realised she had messed up and dropped the whole thing. Also, the gang leader who instigated the whole became very friendly after that.

    North, I wish you had given me that advice about bullying sooner. It took my bully punching me in the back of the head multiple times for anything to be done. And worst part was, the school was actually going to give us the same punishment as I’d pushed him beforehand to set him off. Could have gone a lot differently if they were actually competent, but it took getting a concussion and a pissed off mum for anything to be done. Anyway, thanks for the vid and you’re a godsend for listening during hobby stuff.

    Brian sounds like he was fighting for his life. Not his physical one, but his psychological one. When that last place you have is under threat, and you were always taught to be the bigger person (which just means to never hit back, which is exactly what bullies fester on), you either completely break down in shock or... well, snap. Flight is not an option then, so it is one of the other two.

    I got chastised several times in school for giving it back harder than I got it. Then saw the bullies keep bullying other people with no consequences. Clearly the most important thing was making sure no one "takes justice into their own hands". Raise a hand to defend yourself and you are the bad guy. This is how you foster a culture where people are at the mercy of authority figures. The story made my blood boil.

    I was bullied quite a bit, but never had it quite as bad as a lot of other kids. It got especially bad in boarding school, I was tiny like 35 kilos of skin and bone, so I couldn't fight back even if I wanted to. Eventually, the kids who were bad to me were ostracized, and I made many more friends than them. I then got moved from the private boarding school to a low decile public school and the bullies there were pathetic compared to the arseholes at the boarding school. For some reason during English class one of the "bullies" implied I was having an incestuous relationship with my father, which was disgusting, and my dad was far away at the time. So I replied. "Yeah...in your wet dreams." And boy oh boy even his friends laughed and went 'oooo, Ben just owned you.' Was one of my most proudest moments and the kid left me alone after that lol.

    i can also confirm north that your advice is spot on i had trouble with bullys for years the usual crap turn the other cheek walk away just made the bullys worse and made them step up the bullying i told my school look ive delt with this for years enough either sort this out or im going to sort it out in a way thats not good for anyone but my self because id had enough i used alot more colourful wording but lets not go on a triade here lol well the school gave me the usual line we have a 0 tollerance policy for bullying and vilolence i simply slightly calmer and more sure of my self at this point again made it clear what was going to happen one way or another and left the office well a week later one of the bullies pulled my chair away from me causing my to fall i stood up the teacher turned around just in time to hear me say i warned the office and procceded to punch the guy in the face his two friends jumped in and i caught a beat down but not before landing several good hits on two of the three we all got suspended and when i returned to school i never had a single problem with them after that

    I also dont think that Brian getting expelled from his school wasn't a great outcome for him. It was clear that school wasn't in the business of protecting the children. They had allowed his problem to fester, so I am sure that Brian saw it as a relief he never had to go back to this place. He is free of his bullies and is in a new environment. Win - Win.

    If I look back on a game and I'm looking at the rules again and I realize I got something wrong I will come out with it first. I would hate to ever look like a cheater. If we're at the game and someone gives me any amount of push back I'll look it up right there. If they're questioning it at all I'll look it up right there. I've lost count of the number of times I've been playing and I started questioning whether or not I have it right and looked it up just to make sure. I don't ever claim to be good at the game. I do too many things just because I want to see how it turns out. I could have won a lot more of my games but I don't think it would have been nearly as much fun as the times where I did something stupid and something stupid happened. Can confirm on the bully thing. Guy wouldn't leave me alone, kept running his mouth. Ganged up on me with his friends. What he didn't know is I was trained in self defense. I knocked him out in one go. His friends didn't dare come at me when they saw what I did to him. That's what lackeys do when their ringleader is out cold. I'm not proud of that moment, but I don't regret doing it. I honestly don't know what he was expecting to happen there. I was two of him in size. He never spoke to me again after that.

    What's with knight players... I have two like this in my community. Biggest crap talkers too one likes to convince new players to use bad strategies, like taking comms on an impulsor. Also will not give an inch on new players accidentally forgetting to declare oaths, or whatever, but will constantly ask to go back whole turns for something they forgot. He mostly plays new players. The other, is a huge @$$ , talks down every player, trash talks every army he doesn't play, an claims to be a circuit tournament player. Makes horrendous lies about common knowledge to make himself look good (like working for DnD when Gary gygax left Wotc... no joke he swore up and down that gygax was working for WotC in 2003 and left because of 4th.) This could be heresay because of his bad attitude, but what most players say about his tactics, he cheats. PS: I'm sure there are great Knights players with lots of honor, what i said is a blanket statement which im sure is erroneous given a proper sample size. im new to 40k side. i have only encountered thre knights players. so far, anecdotally , 100% of knights players cheat, and 100% of cheaters I here of locally, are knights players.

    the bullying story hits hard. When I was in high school we had both the best rugby AND wrestling team in Canada (at the time). One of my wrestling teammates decided to try out for the rugby team. Well, some elitist thought that the wrestling team and rugby team shouldn't be mixing. My friend was one of the best in Canada in the ultra-light weight division. During tryouts the elietist hit him with an illegal clothesline blow the waist breaking his femur. His wrestling career and any following scholarships were OVER. I was furious. I stormed the halls of the school, and ripped the doors off every rugby player's locker. The culprit I removed his locker from the wall, dumped the contents on the floors and then crushed the locker. All this in plain sight of any student and faculty that was watching. The final outcome was, I was suspended for 6 months and that student's parents decided to move out of province (or state or whatever you want to call it). I don't feel bad about what happened to me, I only feel bad about to what happened to a budding career because of a bully, insecurity, and jealousy.

  • @XGorblumX
    @XGorblumX8 ай бұрын

    The Racist story made me think back to my early teens in roughly the mid 90's at secondary school in an English class. I'm British Chinese and well this guy was clearly speaking another language and tried to mock me (because being racist) when class started. He was a few tables behind me, so I decided to look over and speak out aloud for the whole class to hear. " I do not know what language you are saying but its clearly not Chinese and its not English. Would you please speak English cause its clearly not a language anyone knows here. " The whole class laughed at him cause I turned it around from what was mocking me to make him feel like he was the clown of the class and a laughing stock. The Teacher then spoke out that he should not do that again. Suprisingly because of what I did, there was this good looking girl to the table right of me , she smiled and got her friend to ask me " Will you get off with her " As in make out and I can tell you that feeling of turning things around and impressing a girl that looked gorgeous made me feel great. Its cause back then people were quite racist and like North said, there was nothing done about it. Thanks for this video North as this really hit home to what was a great feeling inside to hit back at people who lack respect for others and not taught right. The guy never mocked me ever again after he had been laughed at and the whole class really respected me. I was the new guy that moved to this different secondary school at the time. I really had it rough and had to get to know new people, when people dont know you they don't tend to speak to you but when you impress people, they will think you are an interesting person to be around.

    I was a special needs education student in middle school, had a few bullies growing up. These kinds of stories just really resonate with me because I just remember all the bullshit I had to put up with. To be fair, I was a little shit too, kind of a dick, not perfect, but nowhere as bad as them. They were fucking awful. I did stand up for myself, if they got so much as close to me I would scream, cuss them out, and raise all kinds of hell. It never got physical, thankfully. I didn't get in trouble for it because everyone knew I was developmentally and emotionally challenged because of my mental disabilities. When I see kids experience this kind of torment I just get so angry and wish there was something I could do to help them. It's just so.. tragic.
