As a kid, I was a full year younger than everyone. So, I was a lot smaller than the other kids. Which made me a prime target for bullying. Not to mention, I had a big mouth. (and still do) Needless to say, I got in A LOT of fights. But it stopped the bullying. Hit bullies back!

Unfortunately many schools engage in a lot of victim-blaming and "zero tolerance on violence" where they basically condition kids into not standing up for themselves since having a spine only gets you chewed out by staff and punished like you were the instigator yourself.

Same here but was large for my age but acted immature compared to them so got harrassed for it, I was quite an aggressive little cave child though so they did learn to give me a wide berth after a while lol. Now days I would just laugh it off if someone said "you look gay" or "ur dumb" but back then it would make me see red and I would pounce on them.

Yes we should Gatekeep harder than we have ever 'Gatekeeped' before! We should also be very careful about competitive play we might regret it, the problem with turning a fun game into a sport, based on statistics and tier list is people might wake up one day and 40k has become cricket. Boring and bland and only treated like a sport. I can see a very grey future with us screaming "What have we DONE".

Exactly, I suppose I’m no longer on the same side as I used to be but I’ve been corrupted by competitive players after them joining our group lol. It is so very very hard to mend my behaviour in the way I play. The issue with current space marines is that every unit is equally as sh1t when compared with other factions However even the weaker ones like terminators can be very good if you use them right so it’s very hard for me to not play a shi1t list competitively minded. When my opponent brought a monster to meet my terminators, after fighting I manoeuvred them out of combat using a Anvil stratagem onto an objective, come my turn I charge into weaker t3 units I know my terminators will absolutely destroy. When I was more casual I’d have fun seeing this epic fight continue but I’m not casual anymore.

I liked playing the MLG playlist in Halo 2 and 3 and Reach, but just as a “let’s play something different” kind of vibe but I didn’t like playing it all the time because it took the weapon sandbox and reduced it to three things. Fun for a couple of matches, but I’d rather be in the playlist where it has different game modes (oddball, king of the hill, griffball etc)

My dad always told me to avoid trouble as long as I could but when the time came kick their ass. Told my boys same. They took it to heart. My younger son was about nine when two boys kept bullying home on the playground. One day the cornered him and gained up on him. The last thing he said was “this is gonna hurt you a lot more than it’s gonna hurt me” and whipped them both.

One morning at drop-off I caught my kid threatening to hit another kid, I talk to him about it and find out said kid had already hit him. I tell him he needs to let the teacher know. He does so when the teacher comes out and she says "Oh well let's just ignore it." Couldn't freaking believe it.

Absolutely agree with your concept for bullying in my personal experience going to the teacher almost never works bullies only respect a bigger bully hit them back and their leave you alone. Basically, you treat bullies like orks .

I dont play Salamanders, but the detachment the oaf is talking about is all weapons have the assault keyword and have plus 1 to strength if within 12 inches. Hes just mad he got called out and needs to be dropped. OP needs to find a better and toughen up that spine a bit. Hope OP enjoys the army however.

Gatekeeping really depends on where you draw the line... and everyone seems to draw it wherever they want. "Don't be a dick" seems to be the only thing in common, and even that has its own moving scale from person to person. Personally, I feel more people playing and enjoying the game is objectively a good thing.

But if you start complaining about it to your opponent who likes fem marines then you are just being a dick. I don't care what you do with your hobby don't be a dick to someone else for their hobby.

Just so you're aware, Adepticon is no longer in Chicago. It's in Milwaukee, WI.

Salamanders literally do not get any special rules or detachment in 10th, just unique captains. They are green, ultimately marines. All divergent chapters, however, do get their own detachment and units and more characters to choose from. Special abilities are looked to enhancements, stratagems, and a detachment rule. Weapon abilities are universal outside the one detachment rule. This dude was making everything up, also aside from the eliminators there is actually no way to have meltas on everything most units do not have access to them at all. He taking advantage of his friend because he knew his friend was a pushover, I truly feel bad for people like this who refuse to stand up for themselves. Anyone who says "do you think I am cheating"out of nowhere is cheating. But I swear these type of people really think the best intentions in everyone but in reality they are naive and it is sad to see.

Judo is a brilliant defence sport. It requires being attacked to be effective. That lessons the EGO trip and the Guidence from a martial arts trainer is invaluable. you have to stand up to buddies straight away and with the most amount of violence you can get away with it the time if they’re begging you please don’t hit me. Get one more hit in as long as you’re not gonna cause any further serious harm to that person, it’s about making the statement.

Having played a couple of games with the fun models I wanted to and having no luck, not one game even close to a draw, I started looking at "best units of" and "army tier list"s. I do this to learn the army's current strength and how to utilize units without treating them as just another plastic model on the board whose ability I constantly forget. I know I won't be able to build a hyper competitive army, nor would I copy a tournament list purposely as I can't play competitively. Even for those not in competitive scenes I think those lists/videos help to understand what are good and bad choices for the army they want to play.

Austin's story was a particularly frustrating one. I wish him luck in the Army and I hope it teaches him to stand up for himself.

The real nightmare is that after all this bullshittery is pulled upon him, he still has the absolute lack of wherewithall to ask "Hey, guys. Am I the asshole in this one?"

The only melta that hits off the top of my head is the one on the invader

There is nothing wrong with playing competitively. Competitive list building is what creates the problems.

Kid would kick teh back of my chair and my lunch box just about every day in class and I turned around and punched him, not that hard just to let him know whats up and he just looked absolutely shocked lol. Got a stern talking to from the teacher but the teacher liked me and not that kid so didn't get in trouble or anything. Kid never bother me again.

Howdy sir north it’s Austin, I appreciate the advice and after a listen I sent it to the wife and she confirmed I was a bit of a door mat when it came to my “friend” I will say I told him to get fucked after he was being a dick to my gay friend (Matt) and now the rest of the friend group doesn’t want me or Matt around but rather have a single real friend then a big group of sharks. I think the army will help me grow a stronger back bone but It’s on me to stand up for myself. Keep on doing what your doing and can’t wait to binge your story’s when I get out of bct/osut

23:31 not a sallies player but chapter specific things aren’t a thing in 10th like they were in 9th and 8th. You have the detachments and all and the firestorm is flavored to be sallies esque, but you don’t need it. If it’s at the start of 10th then they’d both be using the index and gladius…

That’s what I had thought, I got an old time friend who is actually teaching me how to play now. I told him about my first game and he couldn’t stop laughing at me.

My Bard/Sorcerer became something of a Main Character in my D&D 3.5 game, but in my defence it took place in both The Old World and 40K, and I was the only one aside from the DM with knowledge of both universes. More importantly, the three other players also had fun, particularly in combat, where I was so close to useless my character gained his signature combat spell (Burning Hands) as an homorific, and the party got a bonus to dodge if I might just so happen to singe them with it. P.S. People who don't like segways have probably unsubscribed.

to the bully stuff a friend of the famalie had a son wich was bullied to and when he snaped the bully ended with a broken nose in the hospital the bulling did not just stoped they even became friends afterwards

I’ve been trying OPR again for the last couple days. Made some basic 1k lists with units I have ready to put on a table, tested it out. I see why people like it, comparatively. But… For me? There’s a SEVERE lack of crunch. Just based on the armies and units I like to play, it’s looking like I’d need to roll around at 4K+ points minimum to begin having fun. 40k is flawed as a game system for balance and depth, but the bare minimum level of Combat Patrol (the sub system or 500pts) is more fun than OPR to me. Now, I’m a former competitive player who got sick of FOTM overpowered bullshit (Eldar) and I prefer to run all of my armies as 1-of units with no duplicates and a clear theme in mind. It plays very well casually, and printing off the data cards (fuck paying for that) makes referring to all my stuff very easy. Maybe I’m just an outlier, but I don’t find 10th particularly complex compared to 9th, even with the unit abilities (which always existed just in different form in 9th). I’ll keep trying OPR because of its simplicity to try to get people to start the game, but I feel like it’s not something I can enjoy long term.

Opr has an advanced rulebook if you want more crunch, it has a bunch of rules you can plug in and play in modularity Card objectives, game modes, command points, extended actions, etc

There seems to be no end of stories of people manipulating slow/fast play at tournaments to get through the number of turns that works to their advantage. The number of turns should be fixed and on the clock, if it’s so difficult to get through a game.

Anyone else not a fan of the new BGM being used in the last few vids? I prefer the old instrumental more chill stuff you used, without the singing which i find somewhat distracting.

He will find soldiers who play 40K in the US Army. Me being one of them. It’s been growing in popularity.

Not saying you have to like it or that you have to have female Custodes in your army but they are cannon now. So wouldn’t saying “you can’t do that here because we aren’t doing politics here” in fact itself politics?

I don’t care about Femstodes, but really dislike GW’s handling of it and the disrespect towards longtime fans who really just need a reason to see they’re an acceptable lore change, but got “they’ve always been there, stupid. It's not about that, though. It's a huge sign of how that player is going to act the entire time they're in your space, because these far left/far right people just cannot help but make literally every single thing and every single subject into a political tirade. Most everyone else here in between those two factions can actually get through a day without forcing real life politics into a game of plastic army men.
