For any dude out there watching this, dont gauge your hobbies based off of external validation. Find hobbies that are personally fulfilling to you. Theres nothing wrong with trying to increase your attractiveness but at the end of the day you should be investing in yourself and what makes you happy. There's someone out there that will like you for who you are, and building yourself to represent what others tell you will make you "more attractive" is a hollow path not worth walking. Chin up brothas

It's a good point and well said. But...picking up a hobby, outside your normal maybe, perhaps one a women could enjoy with you is still a worthwhile endeavor. Romance is a 'WE' thing. Example: I'd never let her put a wrench on my bike. But lots of women, at least in Nevada, like to shoot. And a list as long as my leg more also. None of my hobbies bring me "validation" outside or inside. They are just fun ways to pass spare time, be creative. A hobby WITH HER, still feels like a fun way to pass time. For any Dude reading this, be open to it. One "WE thing" could lead to another. You need to be able to do things together, beyond horizontal bop. It's kinda what the whole LTR thing is about.

Cooking is a good hobby. When I was dating, I was flat broke and could not afford restaurants for dates. When I told the women I was dating, that I could cook for them at my apartment, they all dropped me like a hot stone when I explained my finances. I had one girl who took me up on my offer. We had a very nice chicken dinner with wine, soft music and good conversation. We celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary next year. BTW...my finances have greatly improved since then. And you found that out before wasting any more time and money on them for a first date. Congratulations on your long marriage. It's a shame that the dating market is an even more caustic, degenerate wasteland than it was 25 years ago thanks to the negative impacts of social media, loss of family values and foolish political and legal policies in most western countries.

Hobbies and interests do make a man more attractive and diverse. If you do get into a relationship don't let the woman take your hobbies from you. So many men have had their hopes, dreams, and opportunities taken away by a relationship. Make sure the relationship compliments your life and is not your life. Also shopping and spending money isn't a hobby ladies.

Here's my two cents: I do believe that people are drawn to the feeling they get when they're in the presence of a passionate personality. I think it has less to do with the actual hobby itself, and more to do with how passionate or even obsessive the other person is about a certain topic. So don't go out there and get a random hobby just to attract people. Because unless you're REALLY passionate it won't count. No? Am I romanticizing it?? I might be...

Passion. Having passion outside of a relationship is AWESOME for both men and women. It shows that when they are focused, dedicated, and absolutely involved in something that they love to do/talk about, it *could* show up in the relationship towards the person they are dating. Plus, it's less pressure on the other person to provide "entertainment". The person is growing, learning, educating themselves, etc. It's just so much of a hot thing. Though of course, there is that balance. If ALL you do is talk about that one thing, then it can get pretty mundane quick. However if it branches out to skills the other person can see (mechanical, electrical, artistry, etc.), then there is that link that can connect to a wider variation of experiences.

I’ve had this issue where people tell me I’m doing too much. I’m super outdoorsy and love keeping my body in motion. Some of my hobbies include Jiu Jitsu, rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, hunting and fishing. I also have a fulfilling career and side hustles that bring me happiness. When I’m not working, I’m either at the gym or spending time doing my hobbies. I don’t really do bars or nightlife so finding women that understand my lifestyle is hard. I live in a city so my lifestyle seems too active but when I’m out in my scene, I’m too much of a yuppy lol. It’s a weird spot that I’m in. I have learned to enjoy being by myself. I believe you’re only young once and your body is capable of so much. I don’t want to look back and say I wish I would’ve done this when I was young and strong. We live in a day and age where information and opportunity is all around us; Take advantage of that to learn and absorb as much as you can. I’ll save the book reading (I listen to audiobooks) and “Netflix and chill” for when I’m no longer able to move like I used to when I was 20. I don’t necessarily want a girl to enjoy the things I enjoy but understand that this is what keeps me sane and happy. Heck, maybe she can come tag along and enjoy things I enjoy doing and vice versa. Also, it probably doesn’t help that I’m 5’ 6” lol. But I check everything else I believe. And I would also say I’m a bit shallow when it comes to looks.

I share several of that list of hobbies you mentioned Courtney (travelling, exercising, dancing, cooking, politics, pets, photography and sports), but I also have quite a few geeky hobbies that have been heavily criticized by people over the years, like video games, comics and anime. I never gave a damn about others opinions regarding that. At some point I launched a website to publish news and opinion pieces about those geeky hobbies also including music, cinema, literature, etc. Later a girlfriend of mine told me I was wasting my time... She's no longer my partner, obviously, and that website not only made some money, it served as a portfolio for my last two jobs, both related to the entertainment industry (organizing comic book conventions and writing for an anime streaming service). I also have a wife that shares most of my geeky hobbies. Never let anyone go after you because of your hobbies.

I have to tell you, I have met some amazing and incredibly attractive women over the years that from outward appearance you'd never know they were interested in Marvel, comics, anime and ComiCon. Few and far between but they are out there. Being married myself, it's easier to carry on a conversation with them as they know you aren't trying to date them; I've met them all through my job. I've hooked some of those ladies up with some guys I know that enjoy those same things and they've ended up married with kids and doing well. I think if the geeky ladies let more of that side show instead of suppressing it publicly, more of the geeky guys they are looking for would take a chance to ask them out.

I started ballroom and swing dancing over the past year and a half. I have always liked dancing, but was always a bit shy about it when I was younger. Part of that is because people my age at the time really only knew how to club dance and that wasn't my jam. Now I am either training with my coaches or social dancing 3 to 4 times a week. I am meeting tons of people and I really hope to meet a nice girl who shares this passion with me.

Speaking from my own experience, ballroom dancing is a lot of fun indeed. If you continue to get better at it, it will not take long until you are pretty much in the top 10% best dancers at a regular dancing party (where the theme is ballroom dancing, or swing) or even better. And you will meet plenty of women who would like to dance with you regularly. So people (women) will naturally "accumulate", just as a side effect of you being a good dancer and regularly going to dancing parties. At least that what happened with me, and i am definetely not the extroverted or "player" type really. Also, at most events i go to, there are usually more women than men (not everytime of course. but most of the time). Secondly, i feel like most women i dance with really find great joy in that hobby (maybe even more than I do), so it buffles me a bit, that you have not found a women yet, that "shares that passion with you", but as I said, it will definitely not take long for you to find something like that.

Also, my preferred ballroom coach has taken some time off and I have moved more into the West Coast Swing world. I have been told it is a much younger community. It isn't that I haven't found ladies who share this passion. It is more that the community is a bit older than I initially estimated. The college girls that frequent the socials that I have gone to are often very reserved and are hard to get to open up in conversation. All in all, regardless of the style, I am having a ton of fun meeting people in general and practicing my social dance and conversation skills. I went to my first convention style event for WCS two weekends ago and I had a ton of fun. I look forward to more events like that and I am certain that I will cross paths with girls I am looking for sometime soon.

The main problem why dating is messed up is because of social media. Cause before social media, both men and women had a realistic approach towards each other. Where as today, there are some extremely good looking guys on tiktok or Instagram which is not the main problem, the main problem is that those “good looking” guys are only like 2-3% out of 100% and 90-95% women are aiming for top 2-3% men (even the unattractive ones) which is an absolute nightmare for 5/10 or below looks guys. For me - A woman interested in exercise and good nutrition is an indicator that she has a positive self image (or at least working towards it), is less likely to suffer from depression, less prone to disease of all types, and can go on fun outings/travel in the world without becoming easily fatigued. It demonstrates she has done her research about health & fitness which typically indicates a higher average intelligence. I had a phase where I wrote about 100 poems. I've recited some of those on stage. I like watching sport, and visiting sporting events. I have travelled quite a bit in the past. This has helped me in my dating life, because my broad range of interests has resulted in me being able to propose interesting dates. I lived in dublin, Ireland for thirteen years. I spent a fair bit of time getting to know the city by going by myself to plays, movies, restaurants, sporting venues, bars (especially those with live music), concert halls, and sporting venues. As a result, when I asked women out on dates, I always had a wide range of entertainment options I could suggest for dates. This definately made women more interested in spending time with me. I also cooked some Indian food for a french woman I was seeing for about one and a half years, on, I think, our third or fourth date. I made sure it was mild enough for her liking. She ended up really appreciating it.

I am current in the process of getting my pilots license and when I mention that to women that I meet they are fairly intrigued. Problem is that flying is an expensive hobby so it’s not accessible to everyone. My opinion is men should have multiple hobbies, especially those you listed in the video. Hobbies for both genders can signify the kind of person they are. A man who travels a lot, plays rugby and has a dog can signify to a woman that this man is a risk taker who’s athletic but is also family oriented. As a man, what I do find to be attractive in women is a woman who can cook, likes to read and wants to take care of herself in the form of exercise. Instagram is a good background check for men to use because it can show what most women’s hobbies are. What is most certainly unattractive for a man to see is a girl who’s interest is to be in the clubs all the time and posting thirst traps on her social media.

Interesting topic. Definitely agree with some of the comments - there are certainly hobbies/interests that women find more attractive in men than others, BUT do not lose your love and enjoyment for something you are passionate about just because it's not on this list or "less" attractive potentially to women. If it's obviously something that's a major issue - then reassess maybe a bit. But, I'm talking interests that are somewhat dangerous or different such as BMX biking, car racing, surfing, flying planes, riding jet ski, whatever floats your boat. You still should enjoy what makes you come alive and the things you feel passionate about, but like anything balance your time and your life. Women pick up on the fact that you are passionate about something, and that's a win for both parties involved. Also, being able to cook for a girl is definitely a great tip :) and you can be healthier for yourself/save money/feel more accomplished as well in doing so...

Similarly i do think women that have hobbies are more attractive. When I say hobbies, I am referring to active hobbies like doing sports (playing sports or become coaches), fitness, martial arts, arts (dancing, stage play, painting, etc), community service, volunteering in the community, gardening, etc. Not passive hobbies like watching sports as spectators in the venue or TV, binge watching on the couch, food hunting, shopping, afternoon tea with friends, etc. IMO active hobbies increase one's value; passive hobbies decrease one's worth.

@@ronaldgmaster5782 netflix and chilling is OK when need to wind down from active hours on the day. Making it a habit regularly everyday and on weekends are not. Most men like to watch sports on the TV and o live at the venue, yet very few of those that watched actually actively participate be it as players, coaches, and/or officials. That makes them stand out, that makes them special among any other sports fans. Those that didn't participate and only content being spectators are no different than the lazy bums of Netflix and chill, eating and shopping. The same goes with women. Even when she is doing hard labour for living, she still can actively pursue something more leisurely hobbies like painting, community service, knitting, musical instruments, or even tailoring. That makes her stands out among her peers and added more value as a person. In short, I choose women with active hobbies because they are not lazy bums. I would never rate myself from 1-10 because it would be a biased judgement, but one of the reasons why I loved this video so much is because I finished it feeling like perhaps I should be confident about being a 10! (selfish reasons, I know. 😂) Jokes aside, I must say the video was great and very informative. Also, it certainly was reassuring about myself and my choices as a man. I happen to cultivate almost all the listed hobbies in this video. Being Scot-Irish/Portuguese genetically, but growing up in Latin America definitely gave me a very broad perspective in life along with a true unique accent on top of allowing me to speak basically 4 languages. Yep, pure luck there, mate! Now, what really surprised me is the fact that playing an instrument or having musical abilities never popped up as a sexy hobby. It was also interesting to see that how cooking was rated in terms of it being a sexy hobby in the US. Back in my country, if a man offers to cook for a lady and he does it well, it is something big whereas in the US, girls seemingly don’t care so much about it. Strangely, when it comes to matters of politics though, here in the US I always seem to attract ladies who think completely different than how I think politically. I guess being a foreigner softens the intensity of an argumentative situation, but 9 out of 10 American ladies I’ve dated happened to think different than how I think politically. I’ve always been respectful regarding their opinions, but at the same time I do not hold myself back. I respectfully, yet vehemently, disagree with their ideas about their political ideology. Now as a personal opinion, I find intelligence to be an irresistible trait in women. As my grandpa used to say: “Books with beautiful covers don’t always make you feel like going into the second page.” Great video as always, Courtney! Thank you!

I'm 55 and divorced and took a good look at myself in the mirror after I got back in the dating game. As, I had honestly let myself go from my mid 30's after being active and playing rugby since I was young. So, i went on a mission to better myself, lost weight and started to dress better and look after myself on all levels. And everything changed for me in all aspects of my life. One thing that does happen when you age. Is, your perception of women and what you are looking for in them changes. As the girl with the killer body isn't at the top of the list anymore. As, it becomes more of an emotional & intellectual connection than ones physical appearance. Its not settling for less. Its actually the total opposite, as attractiveness is now being found on different levels. thanks for posting the video.

Hey Courtney, I'm a 60+ man, who has spent enormous amounts of time on dating sites. Here are my instant turn offs. Especially if several of these items show up in a cluster: travel abroad, fine dining, wineries, theater, living in an expensive part of town, season tickets to sports team games, weekends in BnBs. All these are very expensive activities. Almost as bad is a woman who lists: needlepoint, quilting, baking dessert, antiquing, shopping, horses, motorcycles, domestic travel to expensive sites. What is most attractive is a woman who has a mixture of things like domestic travel, family events, camping, day trips, DIYs, normal pets, gardening, cards, dancing, watching both new and old movies, politics, museums, and countless other similar interests. The WORST bio is a woman that wants to go to expensive destinations, see Broadway shows, fine dining, box tickets at a sports event, with off track betting. What I am saying is that many women make unrealistic profiles and are not wanting a mix of interests, at various price points. Many women follow their profiles about if you voted this way or that way, or you support a Supreme Court decision, or have some other perceived character flaw don't respond. I think the world has all gone crazy. All I want is a normal woman.

Politics - I will never agree w/ Politics unless if people that are in it will change if not then that’s a problem I cannot fix because if I don’t agree with it then that means I don’t have to be involved because most of it not all it but now it is bullshit in chef salad I got that from a movie don’t ask me where I found that line from what movie if anyone know then great and if not that’s okay too but I honest opinion about Politics it could be different but the issue is playing fire with fire. So what’s the point if you’re re gas lighting more of fire from another side and your adding onto t and nothing frets done it’s like trying to win a war with guns against guns it’s basically coming down to others that would kill other people because our views on Politics that’s why for my reason I don’t have any view on it because it turns people against others that’s not right it human society it’s exactly that way it’s destructive and and violent I don’t care for those things I just want for their to peace, care for one another, equal rights for everyone out there, and have it be a better place than it being the way it is now. 8. Animals- Love Animals Cats and Dogs both used to work w/ animals volunteered for 7/and a half years when I did. 9. Photography - I certainly do Photography when I feel like when I see a new place for the first time or if I see a beautiful moon, or sunset I will try to capture it by my camera and then it’s taken then I edit it and finish it, post it if I want to on my Instagram. 10. Sports - Not anymore I used to but I have damaged my feet enough times to know to not do them because their is sometimes loosing balance and re-straining my feet again or my ankles more so yeah have to be careful. 11.
