Guys, just remember that unless the woman finds you to be physically attractive, absolutely none of these "hobbies" will matter. I have had the majority of those boxes checked for decades but it only mattered to the women who found me to be physically attractive. To add, crappy women will dig your activities at first but then come to resent them as they require time away from them and might bring attention from others.

This guy gets it. Like your hobby at first, then see it as a threat that must be quashed the first time it takes $$$ or attention away from her. For many women anyway.

Let me also add that the "intellectualism is sexy" position many women take is bullshit. The reason they say this is that it is a quality that they feel they have within themselves. Just take a look at the men that they jump in bed with and are often in relationships with. Most of the time, these men are stupid. Sometimes noticeably so. This isn't a mistake. Women pride themselves with being the smarter one in the relationship. They might not say it but they think it and know it. When they end up in a relationship with a man who is more intellectual than them or smarter than them or more knowledgeable than them in most everything it sends them for a loop. They don't like it. If they did, every nerd on earth would be getting laid.

Courtney, when I first met my wife, she was attracted to me for two reasons: One, I had a steady job. Second, I played in a band. But, I promise, it was the music that won her over. For thirty years, she never complained if I spent time recording, playing out, or songwriting. She was a gem.

This is wonderful to hear you found your soulmate. There are tons of ladies who find musicianship attractive but in my experience, very few that truly understand the sacrifices (time away from your partner, finances, opportunity costs on other activities you miss out on, etc) that go with spending the tens of thousands of hours it takes to master your instrument on a professional level. If you compose and record, well that's even more time. Very few women are compatible with our lifestyle and it takes a special one to truly appreciate our creativity and our artistic minds.

@@DuaLeaD Oh so true! My parents grew up in South Bend, Indiana. My Father's parents sold their first home to my Mother's parents. They knew each other all their lives, played games in the park and in the streets. My Father had actually slept in the same bedroom my Mother slept in a few years later. When they got married he told her that his music came first, and she accepted it. He was offered first trumpet to Harry James, but turned it down due to his father getting sick and he had to take care of his mom. Music was his life, and my mother still loved him until the day he passed. They were married 50 years! Now, here I am taking care of my Mother. ;^)

Important things as well: 0:45 First thing - Well - Rounded Individual; 1:24 Second thing - Skill Set And Lifelong Learner; 2:47 (thank you so much for your support Courtney); 4:17 Third thing - You Are Passionate; 6:12 (so true about hobby - you can meet new people as well); and 14:10 to summarize all the told here. Hobbies: 8:25 Playing A Musical Instrument; 8:36 Cooking Or Baking; 8:50 Traveling And Exploring New Places; 9:06 Fitness and Exercise; 10:02 Reading And Learning New Things; 10:18 Photography And Art; 10:38 Outdoor Activity; 11:25 Volunteering And Giving Back To The Community; 12:06 Dancing Or Other Forms Of Creative Expression; 13:22 Playing Sports Or Being Physically Active. I agree that hobbies can make us feel better as well. Also I agree that the tastes are not discussed (meaning that hobbies are not discussed, cause some people like different hobbies). My hobby is mostly doing model kits. Also my channel is dedicated to hobby model kits as well (if you are interested, you can check it out). I even had a chance to meet some people that are interested in that hobby, although we are from different countries. Also I had a chance to meet some women that are interested in doing model kits as well. Even some of them once asked me what type of model kit airplane, helicopter, tank, or car is it, and I have explained it. Besides doing model kits, I sometimes play guitar. Beside's doing model kits, and playing guitar I collect some Lego's that are interesting to me as well. And even some women are doing Lego's as well (believe it or not). Also I even had a chance to meet them. Although there were differences, they accepted me for who am I. I also like playing PC games, but sometimes cause of the obligations that I have, I don't play them that much often. I just have to finish my master degree on faculty, and I'll see to next things as well. But I hope if I'm in luck that I will return to my hobbies. For Lego's I always wanted to make of Lego movie when I was a little child. I saw one Lego set with camera in it, but it was so expensive. And that was before You Tube, social media. What were only there were MS DOS operative system, and 386 computers. And when You Tube started, I decided to make firstly one Lego video, when was also a start of mobile phones with cameras. And that's how I decided to do the things that I started from my childhood. I even saw one quote as well which goes like this: "The greatest man always remains a child." Meaning you always have your childhood goals, and also wishes that you want to achieve, but still to behave with the ages. But the most important thing is to find a hobby, or hobbies that are giving us joy, fulfillment, and happiness. I would like to ask all of you this question: How many people here do hobby modeling?

I'm not into modeling, but I feel exactly the type of enthusiasm Courtney was talking about. It's really sexy, regardless of gender. I, for one, love modern world history. It's a sad, bloody, gritty story with lots of spoilers. Most of the girls I've met have told me: History is so boring. It's boring if you can't tell it. It's boring if all you can see under the word history is a bunch of unrelated years. I can't wait to meet a girl who can tell me: You're right, this really isn't boring." I wish you as many great models as possible that will both entertain and challenge you. :)

Hello,Courtney. Unfortunately, I have been a like-long railway enthusiast and railway modeller, and I can assure you that here in the UK that is a huge turn-off to 99% of women. In fact if I'm asked how I spend my time, I often say 'with the hobby that dare not speak its name'. It can also cost you a job at interviews. I believe the US has a different view and often sees the hobby in terms of the ability to plan and see a project through to the finish.

I'm a 57 yr old married guy. I've always been artistic. I could draw and design. Then, in school I was a percussionist and a drummer in marching band. I tried sports and was ok but, not gifted. That fell by the wayside. I joined the Army and became a helicopter pilot as a career. Married high-school sweetheart. Had two kids. Marriage lasted 13 yrs. 1.5 yrs later met new wife. Changed careers into federal law enforcement flying and moved to Puerto Rico. Got interested in artistic local opportunities, making ceramics with wife, paper mache masks. Learned stilt walking. Blended the mask making and stilt walking into a Halloween costume. Transferred back stateside to northern NY. Became a pipeband drummer for a local pipeband and a pipeband and honor guard member for my work. Took up skiing in the winter. Volunteered as a safety patrol guy on the mountain. Always did small art projects as need arose. Learned to fly multiple helos and fixed-wing aircraft. Traveled to China with wife to adopt a 4 yr old special needs boy. Transferred to FL. Flew new aircraft. Building a WW1 biplane in my garage. Became a fix-it man tackling home projects. Really into Halloween home haunt prop-making. Attended a latex mask making workshop in TX. Created a special effects werewolf costume on jumping stilts! Joined Army National Guard. Retired from law enforcement job. I play in a neighborhood garage band quarterly for fun. I want to get started in leather working but I don't have the time! 2nd marriage of 20+ yrs is going strong! I can't imagine not having hobbies! 😅

As someone who has a large collection of Gundam/Sci-Fi model kits and Lego, I feel called out (jokes of course). I do feel like certain "mainstream" hobbies (dance, playing instruments, athletics, gardening, etc.) are an "easier sell" to most people, because most people will respond positively when you mention them. It can be rather disheartening when mentioning your hobby (building model kits in my case) gets you disinterest and mild disappointment instead of curiosity & approval. Sometimes I even feel like my own friends are disappointed in my choice of hobbies. As saddening as this can be, I do agree that it is vital to watch how people respond to your hobbies. As Courtney mentioned, hobbies are for us, and if we aren't having fun then what's the point? Additionally, it can be miserable to be around someone who constantly disapproves of your hobbies & interests. A person's reactions should be used to gauge whether or not you want to proceed with this person, depending on how passionate you are about the hobby in question. It can also be a sign to start branching out of your comfort zone and pick up new hobbies. My apologies for the essay, but I did want to add my 2 cents to this discussion. Ultimately, I will most likely continue to enjoy my hobbies, and continue searching for someone who can share in them with curiosity and passion, as I would do for them.

Also encompasses sports within it as they are plenty of automotive sports like drifting, drag racing, and road course

My primary passion is music. I live, breathe, and sleep Rock & Roll. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, mainly a guitar player and a singer and I lead a rock band which is the biggest thing I’m proud of. A close second to that is I’m also an Actor/Thespian. I recently went back to school to study theater and I have been thriving in this field as well! The connecting tissue with those is that I’m just passionate about performing, both music and theater. Outside that, hobbies that interest me include cooking, comedy, following baseball, politics, traveling, music production, and many more! Great vid, Courtney! Your vids are huge part of my story :)

I was always interested in storytelling and filmmaking. Couldn’t follow it because I wasn’t courageous enough and got no support when I was young. After earning a bachelors degree in Physiotherapy, I finally got the time to learn basics about filmmaking and storytelling through KZread and internet. Made a short film in 2021 but now got caught up with work and studying to earn a doctorate degree because of which can’t get time to write. Recently have started to work on my fitness now and going to gym 5 times a week. I think if I make myself physically fit, I can make time by working more harder and efficiently to earn money and follow my passion as well.

The dancing thing is true. Back when I got strongarmed by my friends to go to my first festival a decade ago in my early twenties, I had no confidence, no style, barely any social skills, never talked to women. However I did know how to shuffle pretty well (idk why I learned this skill I just thought it looked cool and really got into it by myself), and that was the first time in my life women had approached me with genuine interest. My friends even said they were proud of me. Retelling this makes it seem chessy as hell, but it genuinely made me happy. I think they knew my struggle was real lol. That experience was the catalyst to break out of my shell, actually start caring about what I wear, and started going out, and becoming more social with people. It's not a hyperbole to say it was a life changing experience for me.

Is napping a hobby? In all seriousness, during Covid, my wife wouldn't let me go the gym which I loved to do. Even after getting vaccinated and boosted she didn't want me going to the gym still. So I switched to running as a hobby because I was in the house pretty much 24/7. Then she said it was too dangerous to be running at the park. Then I started running in the neighborhood. Then she said it was too dark. Then I bought a light you attach to your waist and a reflector vest too. I looked like I was landing planes at the airport going for a simple run. She said it wasn't enough. I ran during the day and almost had a heat stroke (I live in Florida). I eventually stopped running altogether. I was frankly a simp. Sometimes, it's never enough. We're in the process of divorcing after many other ridiculous fights as well. Make sure who you spend your time with someone who understands you most of all.

While my hobbies have always been drawing, writing and drawing, my biggest one is going to the gym. Recently, at work, I got so popular with the ladies that I got several of them saying "hi" to me and wink at me. Some even laugh and blush after I complimented them. Even on social media and, sometimes, public, I'm somewhat noticable. I truly believe my honesty, confidence, kindness and intelligence made me somewhat attractive. However, I never let my popularity get in my head 24/7... other than the fact I used it to get girls. Overall, sometimes, it feels really good to be noticed.

@@CourtneyRyan Another helpful Courtney video, thanks! WORD of ADVICE: For those men and women that still have moms who cook, have her teach you. It is a great way to connect with her as an adult, and when the inevitable happens you will have the skills to make all of your favorite foods from growing up. I waited too late, and my mom no longer had the patience to teach, so there are only a few dishes I can make, and I will forever miss those I can’t: especially, my cherry birthday pie… Hobbies: Photography I started this hobby in the fourth grade (so nearly 50 years ago), with a 126mm film camera, my best friend at the time taught ourselves how to develop and print out own pictures. I took photography in high school and college and was on the yearbook staff my senior year of high school. Sadly, I was ready for college, I had a bit of growing up to do, but I did and went back 20 years later and completed my AA degree in Photography. I was the first one at that college to receive that degree; prior it would have been an AA in Art, with an emphasis in Photography. Acrylic Painting For a few months I had been watching KZread video on acrylic pouring, but never thought about actually doing it. However, when my mom was placed on hospice the clergy that came by suggested I needed a hobby to release the 24/7 stress of caring for her and my dad. I’d put them to bed and go out to garage and created a painting or two a few nights of the week. It helped a lot. I still enjoy it, though just not as often. I’ll make one today though.

Here are all of my hobbies and I truly enjoy these: 1) Writing - This is, by a mile, my favorite of all of my hobbies. I have been writing since 2010 when I was finishing up my senior year in high school and have written a total of 13 books since and have self-published 12 of them. Most of which are on Amazon. 2) Content making - I have this KZread channel which is a reaction/review channel mostly dedicated to metal music. I also have another KZread channel called Fallout Freak where I talk about anything and everything related to the Fallout video game series. 3) Exercising - I have a leg workout, an abdominal workout, and an upper body workout that I do each day ever since January of last year and it has done wonders for my body and mind. 4) Watching sports - I love watching all sports. College basketball is my favorite sport to watch out of all of them and March Madness is like a second Christmas to me. 5) Reading - I read a total of 11 novels last year. I am a huge Stephen King fan. I am into horror and that is the majority of what I write genre-wise. I am only on my 2nd novel this year, but that is because I was writing my 13th book at the time and when I write, I don't read. 6) Playing video games - Go back to my 2nd hobby and you will see that I absolutely LOVE the Fallout video game series. Honestly, I love video games in general. My favorite video games I would have to say are Bethesda video games: Fallout series, Elder Scrolls series, Wolfenstein series, DOOM series, Dishonored series and so many more. Along with so many other video games from so many other publishers. 7) Collecting things - A better question would be what do I not collect? I collect: sports cards, Pokemon cards, Fallout Vault Boy bobbleheads, Funko Pops, video games, Stephen King books, my own books that I write, shot glasses, and unique and rare coins. What do you think about all of these hobbies? Hopefully this list will be attractive to someone I meet one day.

Excellent video, and great topic. I couldn't agree more that having hobbies or interests is very appealing, and a great trait to have - even if just for one's self. However as far as women go, it still comes down to whether or not a woman finds a man physically attractive. Bottom line. You could participate in half a dozen hobbies or interests that a woman whom YOU are attracted to, but if SHE is not physically attracted to you, it means absolutely DIDDLY SQUAT. And yes youcsn always go look for someone else; but that just means you aren't interested in a specific, individual woman as an individual, but rather as just an object to add another "notch to your bedpost."

Gonna share a life-changing hobby I got into recently that might be a good idea for some people to try if they are not sure what to try or if they're just looking for suggestions. In February I went rock climbing for the first time, and about an hour in, I was hooked. A couple days later I went and bought my own gear and got a membership, $65 (Canadian) a month. I turned 30 this year, and because of rock climbing, my mental health has never been higher over my adult life. I've found that the majority of people are looking for more people to climb with, so it's a great way to meet people and have a sense of community. It's a great reason to get out of the house and be active, because it's so much fun. I was thinking of starting to go to the gym, but just lifting weights has never appealed to me. However, rock climbing is like a full body workout (mostly upper body though) depending on what you're climbing. I also feel so comfortable in the gym, so I've been more willing to use some of the weightlifting equipment there. The sense of accomplishment when progressing through harder and harder climbs is so fulfilling too, and it's even better when the friends that you have made at that gym, are seeing your improvement and congratulating you. Going climbing is just a habit now, usually 3 times a week, and any break of 3 days or more, (some is necessary to let your hands heal) and I am just itching to get back on the walls and climbing. And for any guys looking to meet a potential partner, I was shocked at how many girls love rock climbing. On an average day, it's usually like 50-50 for girls to guys in my gym, and the girls that go climbing are usually in-shape, very friendly from what I've experienced, and just overall beautiful people. It's also so easy to talk to them because talking about climbing routes is a great, yet simple conversation starter. I've also seen a lot of people that aren't in-shape, but what matters is that they are out climbing walls, working hard, and having a lot of fun at the same time, and that's really nice to see too. For me, rock climbing has improved my mental health, physical health, gets me out of the house, gets me being active every week, allows me to meet people and make friends, and really is so much fun, all for $65 a month. What more could you want from a hobby? Highly recommend you give it a try if you want to get into a new activity. And thank you Courtney for making such relevant, helpful, and honest content. Cheers :)

Dancing - if you guys do not ever want to be lonely again learn to dance. When I was a lot younger I learned how to swing dance, a little salsa some 2 step and a little ball room. I'm a good dancer not a great dancer. I took lessons but now there's so much material on KZread. I met my wife this way. We like live music she has a lot of single friends and they all end up dancing with me because there's no other guys out there that know how to dance. And they don't care what you look like as long as you can lead them. It's the one situation left in this world where men are expected to lead a woman and you actually get to touch them physically (Not inappropriately of course) but it does help to create a great connection. Learn how to dance fellows You won't regret it.

I'm 36 in November. I'm a devout minimalist, I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, I try to learn languages for fun, I go to gym for general strength but not a ripped body, I try my best to adhere to judo christian ideology and I try to be an informed individual. I grew up with an undiagnosed mentally ill father who belligerently opposed the suggestion that he was sick. My father is intelligent but he is also a man child. My mother is his cook, his cleaner, his accountant and his counsellor. I spent the last 15 years getting on top of my mental health. I'm a self diagnosed alcoholic who will be sober 12 years this December. Psychiatrists have diagnosed me with rapid cycle bipolar disorder and aspergers syndrome. Since my 30th birthday in 2017, I put in so much effort to become a better human. I do feel sexually attracted to women but the most important thing I can do is be the best person that I can be. I honestly don't know how to treat people because my family is really toxic. It's like I have left a cult. I'm holding my job down, I'm managing my finances, I'm doing my very best to maintain my health even though I am shift worker and i have hobbies. It's interesting that middle age men like me have more social leverage than middle age women. I was rejected alot by women when I was in my 20s. Now I am finding myself rejecting women not because I am cruel but because I am keep seeing red flags in these women. I'm breaking my paternal curse/legacy. I really don't want to subject a female that I care about to my overbearing mother. Above all, I don't want to take a woman emotional hostage the way my father did my mother.

Hobbies I've had over the years: Reading, Video Games, Guitar, Photography, Camping, Hiking, LEGO, Model Railroading, Action/Anime Figure Collecting, Cosplaying (including with the 501st Legion). If that doesn't scream introverted nerd, then I don't know what does, lol. There are definitely women out there who dig that stuff, but in my experience they are uncommonly on dating apps. Seems like most of them want to go to the beach, go to concerts, go traveling, taste wine, or eat tacos and drink margaritas.

I like playing music and singing/making music. Also drawing because I'm going to start a webcomic. But I struggle to and often don't talk about it as much as I'd like because I can just go on and on and I don't want to make it my whole personality. I want to find that right balance. I don't want to whip out a guitar second date like my brother did with his now wife 😅

I absolutely love planes and aviation. Its sad but i could go to the airport and watch them all day, but my girlfriend loves the fact the i have that passion towards something in life that can light up my face, she's said how attractive it is when i tell her how certain parts work with the theory behind it, and how driven i am to pursue my dream career. She's got no interest in planes and I'm sure it bores the crap out of her but she just enjoys how my hobby gets me. I find it a little embarrassing and would of thought its a huge turn off personally but a few people have said about its nice i have a genuine passion for something in life that I'm driven towards.

As always, when talking about things that people "find attractive," it's important for all of us to consider whether these are traits that actually attract you, or whether they are traits that you like in someone you already find attractive. Do they create an attraction, or do they just "seal the deal' where attraction already exists? Be very honest with yourself, both about what you're looking for and about what people might be attracted to you for. Me, I know that I have one or two of this video's traits to varying degrees, but it still isn't easy.

Animation is my latest hobby. I recently started a webcomic series and want to turn it into short animation clips. Making at least one person smile per piece of content is my main goal. I also like to occasionally paint (it's so damn therapeutic), lift weights, and sometimes cook.

I gained more respect for painting, when I learned how to paint as the same for cooking and playing the guitar and violin educating yourself on something can give you that side of the perspective and understanding and when you see others do it you don’t just see it from the outside you see it from the inside too just getting started on something mentally can be the hard part learning to love it, and dedicate time to it can create love, confidence and happiness, and attract those of the same qualities and even if it doesn’t depending on where you live it’s still good to love it for yourself, because that in and of itself can shape you

yeah, so i never thought about any of this, because i just learned musical instruments very naturally and easily, and then i taught myself composition and arrangement and started a music solo project and just kept working on it and then when i started dating the conversation would eventually come around to "so what do you do outside of work?" and i'd say i'm into making music. I never thought twice about what I do because it's just something i love to do, and when i mention i play a bunch of different instruments that always sparks a lot of interest. like i said, never really thought about it in this way (it being a desirable quality). my thing is how careful do i have to be to just let my music nerd flag fly? because i can get super super nerdy about it. yeah, i have a preferred drum mic'ing technique for a drum kit, yeah it does have a name. lol!

Because you asked about Hobbies, a bit about my hobbies and interests: I have interests more than I have hobbies... because hobbies tend to be expensive and I've never had much money. But the hobbies I do have can mostly be categorized within my identity as a gamer. I play tabletop wargames (especially, but not exclusively, Battletech). I play Role-playing Games (such as Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), I don't really like D&D, it's just the most popular example of the type). I play collectible card games. I play video games on my Personal Computer (I don't own or have any interest in a gaming console) - especially 4x Strategy Games, though I try to maintain skill in FPSs, RTSs, and Flight Sims, and I enjoy playing CRPGs when I can find the time. I think those count as hobbies, but can be efficiently summed up as, "I am a gamer." I have some interest in martial arts, but my formal training is quite limited (a tiny bit of collegiate-style wrestling, and a tiny bit of Karate - quite a while ago). I am a half-competent swordsman, having formally trained in (foil) fencing for a little while, and extensively trained informally with European Broadsword and Katana. These hobbies are overwhelming pursued by men, which I wish wasn't true and is changing a little... but largely remains true. My interests include economics (markets, trade, business strategy, government trade and development policy, etc), History (especially military history), strategy/military theory, psychology, physics, metallurgy, Science-Fiction (literature), and Fantasy (literature), music (listening, and history of). My actual skills are not very practical; in the hands-on, fixing things sort of way. Or in the actually finding a job sort of way. PS: I do have basic skill at cooking. I don't really see this as a hobby. I'm not passionate about it at all; it's simply a survival skill. I was raised as a vegetarian at a time when the only thing a vegetarian could eat at most restaurants was appetizers.

Usually after the gym session I just head to the barnes and nobles and read a book for a bit. But I also play the piano, run, fence, and cook. And once every month I volunteer. It just depends though on the woman who is interested in you. Most of my time reading is usually about the body because of running plus im in a graduate program for prosthetics and AI so Im reading about medicine. I love learning my entire life has been adapting and learning new sports or skills. Went from dominating swimming, to then running, then dominated in fencing. Next goal is for triathlons but again I can have all these things but it depends on what women want. My ex hated though that I never spent enough time with her but I used to spend every weekend I wasnt competing with her. Lot of people need attention so just remember hobbies can take you places and further yourself as a person.

#1 reason has been left unsaid - it grounds you and let's you productively focus your masculine energy away from the frustration of online dating. A good, physically and/or mentally challenging hobby is essential to getting rid of the scarcity/thirst mindset and behaviors.
