Seems all the leaders of the riots either cowardly retired, or fled to other countries. I think the freedom or death were just nice slogans, nothing more.

@@torstenwow Jack Ma is still alive and kicking living in splendour. He would have been locked up by the British for daring to be critical of their exploitation of HK under colonial period.

I wonder why Lord Patten keeps bringing "democracy in Hong Kong"? I believe that he is confused "colonialism" for "democracy" which Hong Kong residents never had under British Colonial rule for 156 years, and will never have under the National Security Law implemented by the Chinese Communist Party. When Hong Kong was governed as a British colony, it was hell: poverty, homelessness, and famine ran rampant throughout this small island. The lives of Hong Kong people were cheap and expendable by Britain whose sole reason to keep Hong Kong was to assist India's trade exports in Asia and mainly with China.

Thank you very much, Lord Patten! You have represented HK-ers and won our respect, not the damn puppets in the current incompetent government!

Pattern did nothing, absolutely Nothing for the people of Hong Kong while he was in charge for 5 years. Now your kissing his feet. He is just a hypocrite.

@@chililucas5483 I agree with you.Patten was only busy pushing his doomed democratic reforms in HK just to score points for UK while any sane person could see that this was sheer hypocrisy when UK ruled HK for 150 years without any democracy!He couldn't give a damn that his actions would destabilise HK as he only bothered about carrying out the Briish govt 's policy and no time for anything else.

I like how she puts the earbud in her right ear.

I ask myself when I listen to those like Pattern still stuck in the past, who petrol bombed, attacked their own people, intimidation, arson attacks, looting, destroying and vandalism to leave Hong Kong (China) a post apocalyptic hell? Strange isn't it that the hypocrites and some of them we should remember their great great ancestors were drug dealers who took opium from India and forced through gun boat diplomacy (diplomacy is a little questionable) for the Chinese to take, deal drugs whilst they raked in the monies, ah yes, let's remember this 'DRUG dealers'. who then proceeded to take Hong Kong by force from the Chinese. But back to those who trashed Hong Kong (China) aided and abetted/funded by foreigners and once again the truth THEY want to distort to their lies and deceptions is not the Hong Kong (China) just out of diapers kids and others who should have known better but clearly are incapable of. In conclusion NOT the Communist party in Beijing (China). I am sure that I am not alone in being utterly disgusted by the hypocrisy and the belief that we are incapable of being able to ascertain what is right and what is clearly WRONG. We hear of those countries/individuals who obviously think that it is OK for those just out of diapers kids to go on the rampage. I am sure many of them would have said the same if it happened on their own doorstep, day after day, week after week, month after month with you living in fear? I think not and therein for those of us who can tell right from wrong, lies the truth re their hypocrisy. Hong Kong (China) failed to maintain law and order to protect its own citizens, FACT. Too much freedom and too much interference from others who deliberately stirred up trouble using those immature kids to do their dirty work. Doing what they would have us believe China has done which was for them to lie, cheat, deceive and indoctrinate at will. UNTIL finally in 2020 Beijing (China) had to accept that Hong Kong (China) its legislature, its autonomy was incapable of stopping the rot. Thankfully for the law abiding, hard working people of Hong Kong (China) the changes to the security situation will have the people feeling a lot safer and more secure to bring back health, wealth and prosperity to what was once a global respected global hub trashed by kids and those who should have known better. China did NOT create the post apocalyptic hell so those like Patten need to act and reflect their age. Maturity not hypocrisy. 👀👍
