This solo is tied for first in my book of greatest solos. The other solo from Comfortably Numb is what it’s tied with. Unbelievable emotion just poured out onto tape from David Gilmour on this song.

I love this solo but for me the most beautiful guitar solo is gotta be the first solo in beyond the realms of death by judas priest

My favourite guitarist and favourite solo, Gilmour is a living legend.
Guillaume, you’re on spot. You can have the gear, pedals, amps, mics, notes/tab but if you cannot phrase or understand the technical details behind the solo it does not sound similar at all. Gilmour is not the fastest shredder but definietly one of the most melodic soloist ever. His understanding of harmonies is outstanding. Thank you Guillaume for the video! ❤️
I love how this guy is one with the song while he's playing. Such passion
Once again absolutely fantastic. Gilmore is truly the ultimate guitarist and music composer. Thank you so much guys and Thomann . Always fantastic show. Favorite is Comfortably Numb. Happy Birthday David Gilmore

The first solo is my favorite but this whole tune is pure gold. Thank you for this deep dive!
Woohoo ! Nice solo ! 🎂
Awesome! Well done Guil! 🔥🔥🔥👏👏😊👍
That intro was absolutely killer!!
I love Pink Floyd like you also, that was my favorite album in 1980, I guess you like me adore the Live 8 performance in 2005 doing a perfect performance 27 years after, they were incredible, I would die to have a picture with Gilmour.
Great video as always. Thanks G
No one can argue that this solo is from another universe, the best solo until the end of the world
Best episode in the series. You're passion jumps off the screen Guillaume
Thanks for uploading Pink Floyd everyday!
this is really good.. I think it's difficult to copy his stadium sounding reverb without something to copy the sound of that rotating amp. maybe some kind of tremolo/delay combo?
Wonderful! Well done. You did it justice, no doubt about that.

Definitely hit the tone perfectly. Perfection

It's not perfect. Even Guillaume said it is not. But it's fairly close.
Awesome!
I'm not sure where to put my request in, so I'll try here. Two I see aren't listed are Mr. Blackmore and the criminally underrated Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues. Yes....The Moody Blues!!! The song I really loved by him is "When You Wake Up" from the Justin Hayward/John Lodge Blue Jays album, especially the outro solo. He's known for using a 1963 ES335 and occasionally a 1959 ES345 through AC30's in the studio and Hiwatt's or Marshall Majors live
Does gilmour uses any compressor or a little pinch of chorus on it? i use them sometimes and i think they suit well or it s just me maybe
I used a gunned tube screamer into a big muff with the sustain at like 2 into a clean channel and I’d say it got me pretty close on tone as well!

added to favorites to work on his guitar solo in the future. You can make it so that some part of the solo is displayed in tablature simultaneously with the game?
Guillaume, nice video. Totally agree with you (and Dan at TPS when he did the Brick pt2 solo) about phrasing. One suggestion: probablt worth dropping the whammy bar back into the strat for this one for the vibrato (I’m guilty or rarely using mine as well). Makes a difference along with the phrasing I think. Pedal-wise, I usually try a fuzz > overdrive (to smooth it off) > a touch of chorus or flanger before delay and verb for an approximate DG sound.
Please do White Room from Cream next, especially the solo has such an awesome tone, it would be very interesting
Great vid
I have this same amp! What channel you using for the solo on the amp??? I thing the clean and drive channels sound good but the “more drive” or channel 3 sounds terrible on my amp. You got yours sounding incredible
My wife is worlds biggest fan of that solo and she approved of your take ;).
Show de bola 👏👏👏👏🎸🎸🎸
I get lost in that solo every time i hear it you nailed it
you need to use some kind of overdrive/booster with the big muff to get the mid range
Guillaume oh wow You just showed everyone the only difference between you and Kris is styles your both epic Thank you Im Ill again so this was perfect !😁😁😁

Can you make a similar video on Local Hero wild theme by Mark Knopfler?
You said you could not get the sound with the fuzz. Saw another video where he put at fuzz into a klon dialed in to low gain. Just did that myself, and the nailed the tone for me. To me it sounds like what gilmore did.
Try the gear in paralell, not series, split the signal after the pedals. Leslie on one side, hiamp on the other, sounds great!
How about Alvin Lee’s Bluest Blues?
Enjoy all your videos. I think people have been chasing the tone of this solo for years, they overthink it, just get in the ballpark, there’s tons of pedals that will do it,people do the same with Jimmy Page,he doesn’t even remember what he used.lol Practice at being a better player , that will get you there, tone is in the players hands ,fingertips , touch , bends, it’s your energy⚡️be safe from Boston
not a Leslie a Yamaha ra-200 rotating speaker. an amazing video on how to get the sound though.
Gilmour is also using a chorus or flanger for the solo
What is your use ("STRING GAUGE")

I recommend 10 to 48/50 for Gilmour in general :) I didn't think I would play in standard that day so I'm playing with 12-52 in that video! Thanks for watching! //Guillaume
all you had to do was watch that intro to know the video is gonna be goated

Another song that I won't play in nearest future but I'm glad that you are expressing yourself in this voicing Great job! Have you ever heard about "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic? I cannot get that tone no matter what. Maybe because i have a les paul, a tele and a prs Se standard but no strat🥹
How about doing Black Smoke Rising by Greta Van Fleet?
You didn't listed the airpods as part of the gear, I guess they are the extra sauce to play the song jajaja. No matter if it is for the baching track or a click track , please, use something more stylish, more hipster ( JAJAJAJAJA ) to match the mood of the room,. In any case great video.

David used a clean overdrive after the fuzz to boost up the mids
He got the sound with the fuzz pedal by keeping the gain low and turning his guitar volume pot down until it was cleaner.
I really need an Amp.
I think Gilmour used to run his big muff into a tubescreamer.
Id say the tone have too much bass and not enough mids... But I could not get that close !
You should try mix in a flanger-pedal to achieve the real Gilmore sound. The man is "raping" his flanger. Just an advice from a true fan of the P-Floyds
Love the passion but you're missing many of the articulations and details that make this solo great. It also sounds like your timing is lagging in some parts.
No pinky in this solo 🧐
Not to be a fly in the ointment. But while you played the solo really well. It wasn't played near to Gilmore's timing and feel.
This isn’t wish you were here but OK
Close but missing a lot very good try 😊
Out of tune dude
Guitar is (very) out of tune..especially the D string
