Valuetainment That there is very little hope for the Middle East/Iran. It will always be too easy for other large governments to go in and manipulate due to the hostilities between other nations like Israel. It’s hard to make money if you don’t have money. And I don’t mean the oil money that is there for a reason.

@@LeRoyBoxley434 But you see, that's the point.. who gets to determine what real history is? If you let the government control the narrative of what gets added to the history books they would promote the wild conspiracy theory about 9/11. In the government narrative they would tell you that a group of Arabs hijacked airliners on 9/11 and crashed jets into the WTC towers in NYC which cause the USA to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan to find Osama bin Laden. But in reality a think tank that published a report called Project for a New America in the 21st Century (PNAC) which outlined regime changes in the Middle East and stated that without a New Pearl Harbor to push the change needed to make the Middle East a democratic area of the world that the spread of democracy in the region would come at a very slow pace. Like magic there were these supposed "terrorist attacks" on the WTC towers in NYC, and AT THE SAME TIME the military was holding military exercises that were duplicating the supposed real attacks confusing the reports that came out that day. MOSSAD agents from Israel posing as artists rented out the whole 91st floor in one of the towers giving them direct access to the interior . An elevator company was hired for upgrading the towers elevators and worked for weeks and weeks setting up explosive devices within the towers and making it ready to come down when needed. Meanwhile the Pentagon was targeted by a cruise missile and blew up the accounting area that was in charge of auditing the Pentagon budget that had lost track of over 2.3 TRILLION DOLLARS of transactions as reported to Congress the day before by Donald Rumsfeld. Planes hit the towers, an hour or so later two came down "due to office fires" , unheard of in the world at this point. 5 hours later another tower at WTC came down from office fires too..but it looked and was obvious to be a case of controlled demolition. All this turned out to be set up and executed from a plan coordinated with Netanyahu's Mossad agents with the Bush Administration. Rumsfeld had changed the policy just weeks before that made him the only authorizing party to allow fighter jets to respond to a threat in the air. But during the so-called "attack" after the 1st plane hit tower 2 he was nowhere to be found. Cheney was moved to the situation room under the White House, and when he was asked if they should launch jets to intercept any of the hijacked jets Cheney said NO. While all this was going on there was a report of some Dancing Israelis recording and celebrating as this was unfolding from across the Hudson. These men were driving trucks that had illustrations of the twin Towers painted on the side of the box vans that also showed a Jet heading toward them in the picture. These men were arrested and held for 71 days without being interrogated , and then the State Dept came to the jail, rounded all 5 Israeli's up and gave them all one way tickets back to Israel and deported them. These men showed up on Israeli Television and confessed to being Mossad agents that were told to record the events. I believe they were much more involved with that. The towers came down, killing 3,000 American citizens , and whole the bush Administration claimed it was Osama bin Laden from Saudi Arabia who planned this treacherous day, it was clear after the Bush administration fought against opening an investigation into 9/11 for 14 months before they relented and opened the 9/11 Commission to investigate that they were somehow involved in the events of this False Flag operation. Bush and Cheney both testified before a Closed Door Session of Congress, and everything they said was Off The Record. Bush then had the military bomb the shit out of Iraq *_based upon lies told to congress about Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD's) that turned out to never have existed._* This is the History of 9/11, just skimming the surface as it were. Most of what is written above is a matter of public record. But the Government narrative would have you believe the crazy conspiracy theory about a bunch of muslims doing this on their own against America. Yeah, right! So whose history do we log into the history files for future generations to read about? You can see the dilemma I'm sure...

This channel is one of my favorites. It is like taking a college course in why. It doesn't matter who Patrick is interviewing or what the topic is, he gets down to the why of the matter. Why a business succeeds or fails. Why a person succeeds or fails. Why a person became who they became. Why conflict is the way it is. Sure Patrick gets into the who, what, when, where, but it always is to deliver the most important question as to why. If you understand the why then it can be replicated and if it can be replicated it can also be changed, but only those who understand the why will ever have the chance to decide of replicating or changing. Those that do not understand the why are just along for the ride.

The "why" is the DEEPEST question you can ask about ANYTHING... if you get to the real why on ANYTHING, you are way ahead of everyone. Unfortunately, there are always many why's to sift through, official unofficial and conspiracies etc, and often we get stuck with the wrong why for a time, or a long time, after all, we can only research from what is available. And then think.

Repeat: we the champions of democracy according to our leaders, overthrew a nation's democratically elected government and installed a dictator like the ones our leaders call bad guys. This fact alone is the most important element of the history, but this narrator kind breezes over the meaning of that event. Then the video gets bizarre. The Shah was a misunderstood champion of women's rights and education? Really? That led to revolution 23 years later? He wasn't a murdering tyrant installed after the US overthrew the country's democracy?

Reagan's people convinced the Iranian gov't they'd do better with Reagan in office than with Carter. The Iranians didn't release the hostages b/c they were afraid of what Reagan would do; they HELD the hostages b/c they were worried what Carter would do if he won a 2nd term.

Although the history of modern-day Iran cannot be told within 30 minutes, Patrick seems to have a bias against the ayatollah. A vast majority of the population (95%+) supported the ayatollah and despised the shah. He didn't mention much of the shah's brutality--where he killed thousands of protesters in just a few days. Or that Western values were being imposed on a fairly proud Iranian nation that maintained ties to its own culture and religion. Or that the people who did hold the West on a pedestal were in fact a small percentage of the population at the time.

@@toriorth8551 As an Iranian i can say you are right mostly. But Shah did not kill thousands of protesters. That was just a false claim from protesters and Mullahs. I thinks Patrick is not biased against Ayatollahs, he is a fan of Shah. he did not mention bad aspect of Shah regime. Shah and Ayatollahs are both dictator, but in Shah regime people have more freedom and Iran was a better country.

@@socktier6334 Hey man. I feel kind of ashamed for being so direct and harsh, but then again the video was a huge disappointment. Propaganda is most upsetting when it's embedded in half truths and hard to sift through. There were many problems with Pat's retelling. But a few issues that stood out the most were a lack of depth about how much the Iranians of the time hated the Shah who they viewed as cruel and immoral, the importance of religion in Iran and how it fueled a huge part of the revolution (it was a religion-based revolution after all), the MEK (responsible for killing 17000 Iranians) and its Western support, the depth of the Iran-Iraq war and its context (how the whole world stood against Iran and used chemical weapons on it), Iran contra affair (khomeini scared of reagan? come on man--they wanted to insult Carter), khumms (the part where he cites a reuters article--really unprofessional to cite another piece of intentionally ill-informed propaganda). There were just a bunch of things he didn't do properly that cut the story in half. Agree or disagree with the revolution of Iran, but don't distort it and everything that came after it. Give its full context and cut the bias (saying that you're going to anger a lot of people by saying something doesn't give you impartiality). Overall, just because he was born in Iran doesn't give him the credentials to talk about it, especially since he doesn't even seem to have a basic knowledge about Iran's history. Hell, I'm not even Iranian and no expert on its history but I know more about Iran than he does. Watching his videos, I feel that he has no clue about Iran or that he is creating propaganda on purpose. Iranians are smart people: this half-baked history retelling was not great at all. Search for documentaries on the Iranian revolution. The ones that have Iranian and US officials talking. Even non-Iranian travel vloggers have much better information. Kim Iversen's a pretty well-versed youtuber who does her research before speaking on subjects. What's interesting is that she has nearly no connection with Iran but she seeks to find the truth and not morph it. The truth will always be the same no matter who looks for it, of course it's covered by filth, like Pat's vid. Better yet, listen to the people we demonize and judge for yourself. Yeah, I'm talking about the "crazy" ayatollahs. Don't let Pat, or me, filter for you. Nelson Mandela was not suffering a migraine when he visited Iran and called Khamenaei "my leader." Take a listen to the interviews the "crazy" ahmadinejad gave whenever he came to the US, probably during the height of Iran demonization. We have a tendency to cherrypick and distort facts, quotations out of their context. Anyway, I'm gonna stop now, I'm a terrible procrastinator, haha.

tori orth good answer dude and I agree with you about listening to “crazy dictators” that the US always tells us not to listen to. But when you actually take the time to listen to them you find that most are pretty reasonable, especially the current president of Iran who just wants the nuclear deal and lifting of sanctions. And yh those things you mentioned that pat left out is distorting the truth and is therefore pushing a certain narrative.

Your friendly Neighborhood pessimist I know. I’m Lebanese. I love America. And Iran has been pimping us out through Through proxy hezbollah. Regardless, what’s my country have to do about this being the most rational perspective I’ve heard on the us-Iran conflict??

Good job, the time line was a big help. I like to deal with stats and less opinion , your presentation was balanced just right and easy to follow , keep up the great work. First came to your pod cast when you had Jordan Peterson on , have him back... you have a gift for bringing valuable insight and information from your guests.

@rambull Jr Please don't confuse people with the government they are forced to live under. I too am English, yet I hate their terrorist activities throughout the centuries. There are very many good people in every country, unfortunately the same cannot be said for their governments.

Thiruvalluvar Sure they don't. like Muslims where they are settling in another country the law that are on this land are Muslim laws they dont care about any EU US or Other country regulation than their own laws for example Sharia laws. Another thing I'm sure USRAEL want a war with Iran as we all know they need another Democratic government oh wait. The state of Iran today is looking bad because of what US government did manny years a go.
