How difficult this must have been for them. She was loved by her people. Her own grandchildren loved her intensely.
The Vigils brought me to tears because it was such a break from tradition. Traditionally it was only males who preformed the Vigil for the monarch, yet for the Queen’s Anne was the first female to do it. Then they had, not just the male Grandchildren, but also the female one’s as well. She was our modern Elizabethan Era, she was Queen not just in name but in heart and mind. It was like losing your nan, I’ve lost one of the them and it hurt just the same. She represented us when we couldn’t rely on Politicians to; she did it mind, body and soul. The only person in power to actually live up to what she told us when she came to the throne.

She wasn’t just their queen. She was their beloved grandmother. In my experience, life isn’t the same when you lose the matriarch of your family. My great-grandmother and her daughter, my nana, died and we feel their deaths keenly during holidays. The two empty chairs they once sat in just reminds us of what’s missing. It does get better, just not quite yet.
This is the ultimate respect for their grandmother. Put aside the fact she was our Queen. These grandchildren did her so proud. This is what love and respect looks like in British monarchy.
I recently lost my father-in-law. My 14-yr old had a difficult time to come to terms with it. These 15 minutes must have be extremely overwhelming for all 8, but for Viscount Severn in particular. My heart goes out to him.

Just to clarify, in 1936 King George V four sons mounted a guard of honour. When the Queen Mother died her four grandsons, Charles, Andrew, Edward and David mounted a guard. But again the women were ignored. Princess Anne put her foot down and insisted on marching behind the coffin. The point I was trying to make was that there was no distinction for Elizabeth. She was also a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and during WWII, she was a trained mechanic and ‘first responder.’ But all due respect, she won’t be missed ‘by us all,’ there are those who could care less.
GOD BLESS THE QUEENS GRANDKIDS AND VERY BLESSED LOVING FAMILY
im glad to see Lady Louis Windsor and princess Beatrice taking part tonight x
The home going was beautiful and fitting of a queen
Tear eyed while watchingThe Queen grandchildren vigil to their great grannie, each of them had especial part of the Queen’s heart…their action speak louder than words. Sending my sympathy to the Royal family and for the eternal repose of The Queen. 🤲💐🤲 From: HK 🇭🇰
What an amazing honor these grandchildren have given her majesty..they loved her so.
My cup runneth over of the love and respect I feel watching the grandchildren standing vigil at Queen Elizabeth's coffin. Words cannot express!!
Done with all of the class, grace and iron willed discipline that Her Majesty showed throughout her reign.
Shabbat Shalom Glad to be with my church family today. Thank you for beautiful day.🙏🌺
What an astonishing view. The Princes Vigil, as it is called, is usually performed by the children of the late sovereign (which was done already the other day by the King and his siblings). Today is very historic and significant that Her Late Majesty's grandchildren were here to offer a moment of silence for their Grannie. Family and tradition, private mourning and public duty rolled in 15 minutes. Historic and heartbreaking 😭💔

What I appreciate is that the British people could see all the scene by themselves. It's so rare to see the royal family so close. Amazing moment.
I’m from Texas and have never set foot across the pond but I have always loved Her Majesty. This moved me greatly. I hope to pay my respects one day in person. What a loss to the whole world. She was a remarkable woman.
My heart breaks for these grandchildren. How brave and incredibly respectful. I would not have the strength to do what they have just done. We hug you all in your grief

@@waynehentley4332 I remember when my grandmother passed away Wayne. I got to grieve in private, with family, friends and caring neighbours. The whole world is a big jump. 🤗
Grand and eloquent. Ceremonies are very important in all societies. Sadness and grief is not pleasant but the ceremony signals a permanent closure here.

I agree. They do help in bringing closure.
She was a Great Queen. May the Lord still smile upon her, and keep her close.
One of the most touching moments of all the funeral.

Such a beautiful tradition they should keep
It is wonderful to see how the British people honor their Monarch; respect and dignity we see here// so much needed in all parts of the world!
The tradition of this is awesome...70 years ...thank you ...your Majesty.
Such an emotional moment!!
I love this tradition. Britain is showing the world how it’s done.

I agree Nikki. The majority of us haven't lived through the passing of a Monarch and it just so happens we are witnessing a record breaking and much loved Queen. It's as important for the family as it is for us to take part in and see the traditions. Edinburgh Vigil gave me goosebumps and the look of utter sorrow on King Charles face touched my heart. He wasn't a king that night he was a son grieving his mother. It's good the grandchildren all got the opportunity to take part and show respect for their Grandmother in such a poignant way too. I'm sure Her Majesty would be proud of them

@@Shaz73 I do agree, and I´m sure her energy is still around and will realize the honour of her family and thousands of people 😇
may God confort all of you for the loss of your beloved grandmother. She will bless you from heaven.💐
I was amazed at how much this still hurts I watched it again today and saw much more than the first time and ended up crying more this time because its still so moving and sad It hurts more NOW????"
So beautiful to see the grandchildren, oldest to youngest, and in a longer version, prince edward and the countess of Wessex can be seen watching them, obviously keeping watch over theirs the youngest children, who did so well along with their older cousins

Fantastic and I’m so glad Harry got to wear his uniform again, he did his duty whilst in the armed forces and deserves recognition for that. What a fitting tribute to the Queen from all her grandchildren showing their love and admiration.
Very, very moving. Thank you.
