Emotional David Beckham Bows Head to the Queen

David Beckham was visibly emotional as he joined members of the public paying their respects to the Queen in Westminster Hall on Friday.
The former England Captain bowed his head as he passed Her Majesty's coffin, having queued since the early hours of the morning. Report by Daisy Busel.

A true British patriot - wore the three lions on his shirt proudly, accepted his OBE from Her Majesty. Then queued for 12 hours and even bought doughnuts for his fellow queuers. David, you did yourself and your country proud... he even said when he was interviewed in the crowd, "Her Majesty gave our country 70 years, I'm spending a few hours in a queue"

I read an interview with David Beckham just after he went and saw Her late Majesty laying in state. He said that he was raised a monarchist and that if he didn’t go and pay his respects that his grandfather would never forgive him. I shared the touching tribute on FB and said that someone with his profile could have easily jumped the queue. But he didn’t. And my respect for him went up a thousand fold. And he waited in queue for over 12 hours.

Well it's the very least they can do for the Person of the Millenium. Prolly only Michael Jackson and her will be known about in 5000 yrs onwards. I have watched a lot and media only bringing secluded highlights. Some are really really heartbreaking but roughly 90% of ppl know neither how to dress nor behave. It's usually older ppl who can barely walk to follow slightest protocol and courtesy in front of Her Majesty. OF COURSE! Despite seeing Princess Anne acknowledging the casket at Edinburgh Cathedral. I seen middle aged men in Adidas shorts. I only thought what's next to be allowed inside ... Trash Millenials in bathing suits?! Despite having no conscience how they represent themselves for World History Pictures/Movies; Most these ppl only want to be on TV and bragging on Asocial Media that they were there - that's the sad state of the world.... including Britain! Elizabeth II was the last bastion of standards. Now the world will be faster ruined than the Roman Empire next 20 yrs. Fitting for Charles.

@@BEEyonced I agree with you that some people should have thought about their outfit choice but I don't think that is something tied specifically to this occasion or country. There will always be people who live only by the written rules aka it's not illegal to wear Adidas shorts to give respect to a deceased person so noone can make me to. They don't follow basic manners of politeness or etiquette. I've seen this on multiple occasions myself. It's sad as in the past people tend to follow those way more. However there's nothing one can do about it. However I don't think majority went there to brag on social media. I would bet that there are extremely strict rules about phones and photographing, you know? Also it's mostly people who are not exactly teenagers or those 20 somethings who use them the most. I believe Charles is very well prepared for his role. He's over 70 after all and son of the Queen. Sure he is not her and won't be there as long as she was but that's not the point. He will do it his way but still devoted to the public. Have a great day!

Foreign? The Queen was born here and her mother was of Scottish heritage; the Bowes-Lyon family is descended from the Royal House of Scotland. Our royals, alongside their aristocratic brethren, are not full German or 'foreign' - most Brits, particularly in England, are of German heritage due to ancestors who migrated here from Saxony (modern day northern Germany) between 400 and 1000BCE, prior to the Norman invasion here (themselves Norse in origin). Over 30% of British people have German genetics. We also share many ancient DNA markers with the French, with around 40% of British having those genetics. Other Brits have Danish markers too (from the Vikings). Have you heard the term 'Anglo-Saxon'? Perhaps you should look up where that originates from. Despite our historic wars with Germany we share ancient bloodlines. Also, we consider people who are born here as 'British', so the fact that you would state our monarch was not a true Brit and 'foreign' due to her mixed European heritage is not something modern Britons would take kindly to - many British subjects have families from other nations but whom were born here and, by definition and legal right, are British. In short, the Queen and her family are probably no more German, genetically, than most white British people (particularly those in England, where most invasions took place and where foreign genetic markers made the most impact). We are not 'Little Englanders' and are far more continental in our DNA than many presume - much like the Royals themselves. The UK is made up of four nations and the Commonwealth have even more diversity - the Queen was a figure head for us all. Arm yourself with a few facts, first, before exposing your knowledge on so little and insulting nations of peoples.

David Beckham, what an absolut star. One of the most famous and recognised person in the world today, and still queued from 2am. Not one of the "don't you know who I am " brigade who feel they are entitled to jump to the front. Class on and off the pitch!!👏

@SplurbBat I knew someone who can't appreciate a nice thing would have something to say 🤦‍♂️ David Beckham is a popular celebrity in UK and the Royal Family gave him a direct access which he refused cause he wanted to act like any British Citizen. So appreciate his gesture cause other celebrities would have accepted the Royal Family direct access offer. Now the question about celebs should be treated differently or as any citizen go ask that to the Royal Family mate 🤷‍♂️ I just pointed Beckham's nice gesture that's it

I don’t know much about him personally besides his marriage. But he is a man who definitely is to be admired. He could have easily been brought through an entrance and had his quiet moment. To stand in a line for 12 hours shows respect not only for Queen Elizabeth and her attitude of duty, but respect for his fellow British citizens.
