Arjuna was a good captain no doubt but if you got on his wrong side that would have meant you would not have gotten a look in to the National Team. Exmaples of such individuals who never got a chance thank to him are Sajith Fernando, Mario Velavarayen ( one of the quickest fast bowlers in the 90s and had a similar action to Rumesh Ratnayake), Russell Arnold ( only given a chance latterly when Arjuna retired), Rangana Herath and many more cricketers of that by gone era. Arjuna is also from a different time where cricket was played in a semi proffesional era and yes back then you could use the fear factor and then perhaps rule with a iron fist but nowadays times have changed and respect is far more important,however i believe what lacks in these cricketers now is dicipline and the lack of mental toughness. How do you build that? you build that from the younger days by letting them play 2 day cricket on a mixture of green fast bowler friendly wickets and spining tracks. Cricketers these days have nothing of that. so a national coach has very little to work with. perhaps concentrate on grass roots cricket and stop one day cricket and T20 cricket for kids and have only 2 day cricket games where bowling a minimum of 10 overs by a fast bowler is mandatory.

Dear friends, First of all in modern world , sports is another business. Its not a game further. But we all must understand that even in that business it should be run in a reasonable way. Specially in srilanka. But in sri lanka cricket runs in a corrupted manner. Even in a good business there are ethics to be maintained which is totally ignored by the current cricket administration. Actually wastage , corruption and all unethical doings are now part and partial of admintration of srilanka in every level and every corner. Nobody can expect only cricket can run clean. We all have to get together and clean this entire system. If srilanka cricket can selects the selection committee, it means they can control the committee and then it's not neutral. It's crystal clear now the system has been established in order to suit for corruption or some corrupted crowd is misusing the prevailing system for their own benefits. Even the media is also now corrupted.... that's what we know.....
