Everyone's talking about their aesthetic but digging deep into the song, it's depressing. It's actually about the feeling about being trapped and having noone to connect with because of the fear of just bringing people down and thinking that you're just using them ("serving myself") when you truly are in need of help. Upon realizing this, the song has grown on me. It's what I feel deep inside and not so much bands can do this.

Thank you! People who listen to musicians because of how they look are god damn depressing. I'm here for the lyrics and melodies, appearance be damned. But I also wanted to add that I've always interpreted the "serving myself" as meaning that he's only hurting himself. It used to be a common meaning that "to be served" meant to be trashed. I.E. "You just got served!" I think it matches up with the previous line of "ruled by the vibe I'm bringing". He's the one at fault for ruining his life.

When I get deeply depressed, nothing satisfies me, not even music. This song and so much of their music however is THE exception. I don't know that i've ever heard a song so relatable and perfect in every way. I may sound really cheesy here, but everytime I listen to this song, it truly saves my life just a little. It's been an incredibly tough year for me and the first time I heard Bambi, I smiled for the first time in months. I still turn to your music for comfort regularly and I'm happy to say i'm doing better. Not great but better and thanks to you, that's okay with me. I'm still living and I find myself smiling now. Best of all, I don't seem to feel so alone and that was something I desperately needed. Your music has helped me become positively introspective about my own well being so much more than anything else could and you have truly saved my life. I know the guys probably won't see this, but from the bottom of my heart and anyone else's who can relate, thank you so much. I know I rambled, but still, there are no words to properly convey my gratitude.💙

Maybe posting about the meaning of songs is a little 2011 but I really love how that, at least to me, the song and music video speak to mental health rough patches in our lives. Such as feeling guilty for putting ones friends through your struggles and the visuals of the video showing how hard it is to do simple tasks like getting a drink of water or taking out the trash. But eventually we all get through.

This song means a whole lot to me, I found it about a year or two ago and I always listen to it when I’m sad or I would listen to it on my way to school. This song makes me feel such a sense of happiness and sadness at the same time, when I first heard the song I didn’t know the definitive meaning but in a way I felt it, which sounds weird but I could relate to the song and the lyrics. It’s such a happy sounding song but it also makes you realize the position that you are in in your life and how it’s hard but it also lifts our spirits when we need it most. I love this band

this past year, and especially the past few months, have been the worst of my life. my depression was horrible, i felt like i was just spiraling deeper and deeper into despair every day. every moment i wished my life would just end so i could stop feeling the way i did. it was the worst; i became an empty shell. i know you’ll never read this, but i went to your show on november 23, 2019. it was the day before my birthday. i felt too depressed to even go, but my friend brought me, and for the first time in months i felt such an overwhelming happiness run through me. my depression didn’t go away immediately, but it was like seeing you brought a beacon of hope and light into my life that i didn’t have before. i listened to this song (and ease up kid) every day. people say that a band or a song saved their life, but i never understood it until then. your music truly, truly saved my life. every day i listened to this and i could relate so hard and i knew i wasn’t alone in what i was feeling. it’s been months and i’m not fully better yet, but i’ve been happier than i have in a year or longer. i know you’ll never read this, but just know that your music truly does have the power to touch people, and it did, to me. thank you.

I keep finding myself listen to this song. I found this song a year ago, November of 2019. School back then has been stressing me out so this song would be soothing. Here I am in October 2020, feeling the same stress but in college, balancing work. I had many breakdowns because of this overwhelming depression that I created within me. I felt like a burden to my friends every time I vented to my friends and I simply felt like giving up sometimes. Though every time I listen to this song, it reminds me that I'm doing my best, I'm struggling for a bit but it will be over soon, and things will get better eventually. I never thought I would relate to a song-- I've seen so many people saying it in a few songs I've listened to, but I guess I finally found a song that shows me that I'm not alone. Thank you for making this wonderful song.

The plant guy from 1:02-1:03 is literally me every night. This song is one of those depressing bois that hide behind that happy, energetic beat and I love it.

I remember the first time I encountered with this song was when i was calling with my crush for the first time, it was around midnight, we were both still shy & we talked about random things. So everytime i hear this, it always remind me of that sweet moment we both had. I know our relationship had a lot of ups and downs, i just hope i’ll be able to love you like this everyday in the future ☺️

I respectfully disagree. The indie guitar setup was why I was such a huge fan of this band (still am but ya know) and as soon as they try to appeal to a broader audience and throw in synthetic kazoo noises and removing a full crash drum set solely for a snare is what completely turns me off from wanting to hear more. It isn’t quite the sell-out pop yet that usually happens when a band starts gaining tons of traction but the only thing “Hippo Campus” anymore is his beautiful voice. Hell I couldn’t even find a bass riff in this. Im just a little disappointed in the direction it’s going but that’s only my opinion. If they’re making money it doesn’t much matter what I have to say

I’d like to thank an old friend for playing Suicide Saturday for me three years ago.. Hippo Campus has made SUCH a difference in my music taste and has become a very important part of my life. They’re such a talented and unique band, I fall in love with their music more and more everyday, while I’m annoying my friends with Landmark.. good thing I have a new album to play for them 😁😁

When this song first came out I was 14 and didn't really get the lyrics or relate to them. I kinda stopped listening to them as much but have recently re-entered my hippo campus phase and now the lyrics really resonate with me. it's so weird to see how everything changes, I'll come back in three years see where I am then

this song came out when i was finishing high school and in a completely different phase of my life than i am now, and yet something about it still hits at this intrinsic weight and depression that i've been carrying around for as long as i can remember. my hippo campus boys have seen into my soul and written a song about it. thanks. one of my all time favorite songs four years counting.

The meaning behind this song and just the unique sound it has makes me truly believe this is some of the best work from hippo campus. Highly underrated

Had youtube recommend me this song, I hadn't heard it in a couple of weeks and was pleasnt to see it's music video for the first time. I love hippocampus, they truly are something special.
