HINTS Exam - How Serious Is the Vertigo

The HINTS Exam is used to differentiate benign peripheral conditions from a problem in the central nervous system, lesions like a stroke. HINTS stands for Head Impulse-Nystagmus-Test of Skew. Head Impulse: a test of vestibulo-ocular reflex function. A normal Head Impulse test (HIT) strongly indicates a central localization for Acute Vestibular Syndrome.

A couple of points if I may. Your first 3 HIT should have been faster. The 4th was approaching the right speed. And 20 degrees is fine. Also very important to stress that you cannot rely on the HINTS exam if no nystagmus is present. I made a video about that. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fmiisaZxice8XdY.html

Hi LADY M'RINA: You could see a chiropractor, physiotherapist, osteopathy, or MD. Basically someone who is trained in concussion analysis. Cheers
