Hiking Grinnell Glacier trail | Many Glacier boat ride explained | LOTS OF WILDLIFE !! [Day 2]

Hiking the most awaited trail of our lives, the Grinnell Glacier lake, in this video we show you some of the most picturesque spots on this hike. Starting with a boat ride, we begin the Grinnell Glacier hike at the Many Glacier hotel on the east side of the GNP. The boat tour on Lake Josephine and Swiftcurrent lake takes you along some beautiful vistas and also offers some history about this place. Besides, the boat ride also cuts down the hike by ~4 mile, which otherwise would have been ~11 miles round, ~2200 ft elevation. This hike is very popular among hikers as it boasts freshness and vibrance of the park. The turquoise colored lake and the jagged rocks are a sight not worth missing. Because of less human interference, this place has been as pristine and heavenly as it can get. The colors of the landscape are more appreciable on a bright sunny day. Moreover, this place is loaded with wild animals which you are most likely to encounter, like mountain goats, bighorn sheep, grizzly. We were lucky enough to spot all three on this hike and were mindblown to have seen them up so close. Hey, we even got a selfie with the sheep. In summary, this is going to be an unforgettable hike if you plan on doing it. There are only a few hikes around the world, that could match its level upto this one. Stay safe, have fun, protect wildlife, and enjoy this video.

    If our memory serves right, you should start seeing the lake roughly one hour into your first climb. Keep in mind that we took the boat to cut short a portion of this hike like we explained in the video.

  • @forever_hum

    Thank you for watching. The boat ride should last for roughly an hour. There is also a short 0.5 mile walk between the 2 boat rides. If my memory serves right, the hike to glacier would take another 2-3 hrs. You will want to take this one slow so you dont miss out on spotting hidden wildlife. Have a great time in glacier. 😊

    Great video! How long was the hike from the second boat dock until you saw Grinnell lake (4:17 in the video)?

  • @forever_hum

    @forever_hum

    Жыл бұрын

    That should be a pretty short hike. My estimate would be roughly 1 mile from where the second boat drops off. You should start seeing the lake from up top. I also want to point out, that you can take a different path and go down to the lake instead, which also about a mile. This will be more easier as there is no elevation going to the lake. Have fun.

    @@forever_hum Thank you very much for the reply. We have been able to reserve a 3pm boat (other times are sold out). Do you think if we just hike up to the location at 4:17 we can catch the last boat at 5:30 pm?

    Hey guys! A lot of people say the end of this hike up to the lake is hard. Is that true? Or is it “hard” because it’s long? The hike in the video seems pretty steady and moderate.. what do you think?

  • @forever_hum

    @forever_hum

    2 жыл бұрын

    I wouldnt call it “hard” as it can freak some folks out. The last leg is a little steep, but definitely doable. Because the trail is long, a lot of folks find it difficult. The trick is to take plenty of rests in between, and if possible, take the ferry ride on lake joshaphine to cut short the entire length of the trail like we did. All the best.

  • @forever_hum

    No, the boat ride costs a few tens of dollars. Not sure exactly how much. Please check on the glacier national park official website which is where you can book. Remember, these rides do sell out last moment.

    What would you recommend wearing when visiting GNP ? and doing such hikes.

  • @forever_hum

    @forever_hum

    Жыл бұрын

    We recommend wearing light clothes and a jacket for summer months. You should also generate quite some sweat which should warm you up during the hike. It may get a little cold up at the top, which is why a jacket is a must. Carry two if you want to stay warmer. Have fun at GNP. Thanks for watching.

    We recommend checking out logan pass, and many glacier for sure. The drive itself is so beautiful, you will love it. If you want to go on shorter hikes, we recommend hidden lake trail, redrock trail, and avalanche lake trail. All three are beautiful and relatively easy, 3-4 mile range. Check out those videos as well on our channel. Hope you all have a great time.
