Was definitely our favorite hike. Parking lot is tiny, so go early to get parking. We didn't have reservations so we got there around 5:45am and the lot was half full already. If you're afraid of heights, there's a couple narrow ledges that might be scary for some. But, the views that you get throughout the hike are definitely worth it. Oh yeah, there's tons of bugs as well, so be prepared for that. If you're a casual hiker, just take your time on the ascent and you'll be fine. The steepest portion is the last half mile to get to the glacier, so as long as you pace yourself, it's a relatively comfortable hike. Highly recommended!

Good info. I did it last year. Afternoon storms are no joke. Better to hike early. 👍👍

Totally agree. The earlier the better with this hike--just make sure to watch for bears!

Such a useful video! Thank you! I’m planning on hiking Grinnel Glacier trail the end of July and of course reservations are booked until the night before. From what I have collected, I won’t need a reservation at all if I get the to the trail around 5 am?

Hello, do you need a reservation for going to the Sun Road and Many glacier if you’re going to do this hike?

Hey, there! It depends how you are planning on getting to Many Glacier. If you are going west to east on Going-to-the-Sun, then you will need a reservation for that. If you are taking Highway 2, then you only need it for Many Glacier. Regardless, you will need a reservation for Many Glacier if you plan on being in the park in between the hours of 6:00 am and 3:00 pm. Hope this helps!
