Hike Mount Moosilauke loop via Asquam Ridge, Beaver Brook & Gorge Brook Trails

Спорт

One of the New Hampshire 4000 footers, Mount Moosilauke stands at 4,802 feet tall. Crossed by a number of trails, including the Appalachian Trail, Moosilauke is often considered the gateway to the White Mountains by northbound Appalachian Trail thru hikers, and the end of the Whites for southbound hikers.

For our hike, we began at the Trailhead on Ravine Lodge Road. From there, we followed the Asquam Ridge Trail to Mount Jim and its intersection with the Beaver Brook Trail. The Beaver Brook Trail is also the Appalachian Trail and we followed that south over Mount Blue before reaching the summit of Mount Moosilauke.
From the summit, we took the Gorge Brook Trail down, descending quickly first to the intersection with the Snapper Trail, and then with the Hurricane Trail, before ending back at the trailhead on Ravine Lodge Road.
Our total hike on this loop was 10.5 miles with about 2700' of elevation gain along the way.

Jeff & Moe, I've hiked this bad boy three times. I have not done the Asquam Ridge Trail yet though. I did this one in winter, that was the best but, it was so cold. I enjoy your video and commentary.

We never get tired of being on Moosilauke, no matter which way we go up.

That was a nice video. Haven't gone up Moose that way yet - more trails to check out. Shame you brought up treats but didn't encounter thru hikers. At least you had beer for the trip down! 😄

Looks like a fun loop. I’ve only done and out and back on it.

Our second time doing this loop and we both really enjoy it. Gives you some miles and some scenery along the way - and saves the steeps for the descent.
