Thank you for these- I remember watching some of them when I was in my early teens and largely having no idea what they were talking about until Paul Merton said something blissfully irrelevant!

Its been fun watching Paul go from Whose Line to this show with his salty sense of humour. Made following him so much easier

And then Tony makes the reference to offering medals to people in exchange. Those medals were given to children on his show.

So bizarre hearing Jimmy Saville being referred to as vagurley normal. Was he ever? 😁

Inverness and Margate are both coastal so there is another way the penguins could travel.

Which bit was homophobic? If you mean the bit about Richard Gere, they obviously didn't think he actually stuck gerbils up his bum. They were commenting on the actions of journalists taking things out of context for a sensationalist story.

You're not wrong, that was a comedy standard at the time. It doesn't come from Ian much and Angus is reading a script but Merton did a lot of homophobic material up until very recently.
