5:00 Loose is a fairly large village in Maidstone, Kent.. they also have a “Loose Women’s Institute” that they strategically always put “(West Kent)” in the middle of.

The irony is that Paul never got on with Angus and never liked him and claimed the show was saved by him leaving. I disagree - i cant watch the show now, it was better with Angus

Angus is a lot more entertaining than Merton. Paul Merton has the odd real good line, but most of his stuff would not be missed. While there's a few guest hosts who did really well, most arent as good as Angus

I didn't know Quentin and Merton were ever married. Til.

He’s married again now.

"You want to get out more." Paul revealed in the DVD commentary for _The Best of Have I Got News for You_ that he'd been saying that to Caroline at home a lot, so when she said it back to him on the show it threw him for a moment.

I think that was deadpan. My wife and I "argue" loads in the shops just for a laugh.

Wasn't Caroline Ahearne also Mrs Merton for a while?

No. Caroline *Quentin* was married to Paul Merton, but never took that surname in her acting career. Mrs Merton, mother of a disabled son and later a chat show host, was indeed a character played by the late Caroline Aherne.

everything about these comments confuses me. that was the joke Angus was making because the mrs merton show ran between 1993-98, at which point she went on to write and star in the royale family.

Done.

Easy to see why they got divorced.

It did occur to me, especially in the episode they were on the same side, that they didn't have much chemistry between them, at least comically.

Research, people. Baz was (maybe still is) the Mail's Showbiz Correspondent. He basically lived in Hollywood, stalking stars at premiers, and reported gossip. He was the Mail's token.
