The current series (67) is very poor compared to these older versions. The quiz element is virtually gone and the humour isn’t far behind.

The gradual disappearance of the quiz element is to blame for its demise much more than is credited. There's almost nothing to hang the humour off now.

An outstanding display of Paul Merton’s narcissism and inability to laugh at any other humour than his own. The show carried him then and is still doing so today.

Gosh! What do you say about Jack Dee then???? I don't hold much for Paul Merton personally - but have to be fair. Not laughing at other jokes is a big part of Paul's act, and if you were being objective you'd say that he doesn't laugh at his own jokes either, it is impossible to say that if he wasn't in HIGNFY, that he wouldn't have been in something else just as successful.
