That is a crazy good deal. Thanks for testing it that way. I've wondered how durable ceramics really are from impacts from being thrown or dropped. Also the yeet killed me lol.

Yea they are def on the heavy side. But price and protection are solid. It's that whole "pick 2: low price, low weight, good protection" kinda thing. RMA has other plates that are lighter, I think their 300 dollar plate is around 6 lbs.

*drops it on dirt and grass...awesome. Not very practical test, have someone wear it to add more weight and then fall with it. Cracked ceramic will blast out more ceramic particles once shot, the less the better(you want that stuff to last), also once cracked you need to shoot it the highest calibre it's rated for to see if it holds up it's ratings. Last but not least, do me a favor...shoot it again in the massive hole at the top of the plate, wonna see if it stops

NIJ 0101.06 drop tests from 4ft with 10lbs of clay on the back. This is directly on the strike face, which is why you'll see foam on the front of .06 certified plates. Also, brownells has dropped RMA plates out of a plane into a field and still held up to almost a dozen .308 shots.

@@cc-vg4ed Not interested in soft landings in a field, from any height. However, edged impacts on concrete are an entirely different level. 5, 10 15, 20, 25, and 30 foot falls to concrete are all very realistic events. Even if these, or any other brands of plates, fail to survive the drops, the tests will at least show what they could potentially handle.

I mean, do you plan on being that rough with your body armor?? I mean are you worried about stopping a bullet or tossing it in the air on its corner on concrete specifically??? You all want that zombie movie armor where you buy it once and it lasts through the entire apocalypse with zero spalling, zero penetration and never wears out but stops a tank round. It doesn’t have exist. At some point all armor fails, the goal is not not get hit ideally, this is an insurance policy, and you hope you never need it, like any insurance policy.
