ZenitLP My reason for thinking it's the compressor is because the bearings should have released all the acetone when they were originally put to such an RPM, yet it continued to happen after every time he accelerated them. Not only that, but acetone flashes pretty quickly, if that much were present when he was spinning them up, the sparks should have ignited it.

+biohazardjackson63 Why do you skaters remove the grease from your bearings? A bearing spinning with no load is not a true test of the friction coefficient of the bearing. When you remove the grease and then spin the wheel in the air and it goes longer than a greased bearing, its still a false test of the bearing. Under load, the bearing will wear out and the balls of the bearing will come out of tolerance and contact the bearing race quicker. Grease your bearings, re-pack them with the shields, and don't take the grease out.

+biohazardjackson63 Acetone isn't a good way to clean bearings. It's a very aggressive solvent, which will damage most plastics. So don't use it if the bearing has plastic ball bearing cages or plastic shields. For a cheap cleaner use Diesel fuel or lamp oil. Works well enough and is quite harmless.

Friendly tip: centrifugal force is not a real force. It is just the momentum up the mass of the bearing wanting to travel in a straight line and is being directed outward, but is unable to do so due to the structure. What is close to centriFUGAL force is centriPETAL force. Centripetal force is the force that moves in a circular path and is directed to the centre of the bearing. An easy way to remember the difference between these two words and their definitions is the "F" in centrifugal stands for "FAKE", and the "P" in centripetal stands for "PUSH". Hope this helps :)

After a back of envelope calculation it seems the edge of the bearing spins roughly at 600-800km/h.

You've just invented the world's most dangerous beyblade my friend

The RPM is limited by PSI and the nozzle of the hose. I saw a comment saying the bearing would have traveled about 4 miles if the bearing was about an inch in diameter. It's simple, whatever speed the air comes out of the compressor hose divided by the circumference of the bearing, would give you exact amount of RPM. If he had a stronger compressor and higher pressure hose, the bearing would spin even faster.

He's totally right, centrifugal force doesn't actually exist. Centripetal force acts towards the centre of the circle and it's inertia that causes the apparent outwards "force".

It actually is a lot more than that. surface of a wheel(circle) is π*d, so π*0.092(meters) = 0.289 0.289*82000 = 23700meters per second which is 53015 mph. So there you have it 😊

Sounds like a helicopter turbine starting up, then shutting down ._. Also, what would happen if you got a better bearing and spun it even faster? :D

i sped up a electronic drill with the same method by blowing compressed air into the ventilation holes and it might have went far past its designated speed lmao.
