And - at least according to this paper - one amino acid, leucine, is to blame.

Thank you for these videos! You remind me a lot of Two Minute Papers, just in the medical field instead of computers! I hope you'll be as successful as him one day, you deserve it :)
And I just ordered a tub of Leucine powder which is scheduled for delivery today...anybody need some cheap leucine???
Bone Apple Tea Indeed Sir!
Always knew that we dont need as much protein as the experts say
Does it make sense that a vegan diet would have more protein than a Mediterranean diet that includes seafood?

Meat has cholesterol too
But doesn't the leucine in your blood go down if you exercise and if you lift weights? The mice probably didn't exercise much and didn't lift weights much.

High iron is also a risk doesn't matter how much you exercise Contrary to what people think exercise doesn't cure all
todays truth ... that will probably change next month ...
Do you prefer going high on protein or the others macronutrients? It may seem reasonable but what about the harms of high fat or high Carbs diets? I’d rather have atherosclerosis but with a nice protein intake then being diabetic, obese and weak overloading the other macros. They want to turn you weak. Try to live in a plant based protein diet. There will be million regrets
This study is fundamentally flawed. Mouse models are terrible for studying human heart disease, and mouse experiments form the critical bridge linking protein intake to atherosclerosis. They have completely different pathways for lipid metabolism. Mice don't spontaneously develop atherosclerosis on normal diets. They used the atherosclerosis-prone apoE-/- mouse model, making mice more susceptible to atherosclerosis requires genetic manipulations which may have myriad off-target effects. Addiotnally, the 'high protein' diet was 'Boost' made by Nestle, ultra-processed and filled with a bunch of garbage. The fact that you are an MD, but don't understand this is concerning.
This is complete bullshit
