    I love this format. I don’t have to skip the intro to get to the chess, and within 30 seconds the game is on! The introduction is super smooth-just you and the board and a warm welcome. I love it! Thank you Eric! Keep going where you’re going!

    i find it interesting that a lot of chess players can casually comment while thinking and maybe wording and voicing some ideas might even beget more of them? i mean, streaming is obviously a distraction, you have to sort of not do weird stuff or mumble all the time, but still, you can get used to it and you may talk off-stream as well while playing chess..

    30:46 Isn’t the Knight pinned to the bishop so it can’t move ?

  • @mikebaker2436

    @mikebaker2436

    11 ай бұрын

    The pin is relative. Example, if Knight moves to e4 and white takes the free bishop, the black knight takes white's queen with check... so taking the e4 knight is somewhat forced... making the bishop trade the likely follow-up.

    you mentioned that GMs get a bye, but then you play a WGM in game 4. I guess they're not considered real GMs? that's kinda weird.

  • @Andrew-jh2bn

    @Andrew-jh2bn

    11 ай бұрын

    Well, it's not that weird. Women can still achieve GM titles. I get that women titles are there to encourage women to participate, but unlike most physical sports, there is no inherent advantage men have over women in chess. So yeah, the title "GM" is higher than "WGM"

  • @KF1

    @KF1

    11 ай бұрын

    @@Andrew-jh2bn yeah the lack of a physical aspect to the sport makes the WGM title seem sexist. The pieces don't care and they're not aware that any meaningful difference exists, if any does. It's good that women can achieve true GM titles.

    @@KF1 Some women such as Judit and Susan Polgár and Pia Cramling refuse the women's titles entirely, preferring only to go after the open titles. There are 40 female GMs now, up from just 6 entering 2000. There are just over 300 WGMs (with some overlap).
