You see every square a piece of yours can move into. So if a pawn can capture, then it can move there and you can see the square. If there is a piece blocking a pawn, it can't see it because it cant move to the square. This is different compared to the other pieces as they can capture on every square they can move to. I don't know if you noticed but at 47 minutes in you played cpq namitbir twice in a row? maybe more than that, depends how they do naming. 3 times in a row, you can see their rating keep going down, unless it's a computer? They aren't masking the names are they? okay 4 times in a row, where the ELO keeps dropping, it can't be the same person right? unless it's a machine, i don't know how it works. Unless this means he and the 2nd place guy keep fighting and he's going to win this. I don't know maybe there are obscured names or just a machine, maybe i'll dig through the comments. 52 minutes in for the 5th time, he recognizes it, so it is the same guy, so it is real, oh okay. weird weird. Again unless you two are fighting for top spot assuming it's like only an hour long tournament. The rematch that happened on time #6 when he had gotten himself back up to your level 1655/1659.

Hikaru should watch the youtube "Fog of War - MasterClass" videos. He could learn from top fog of war players instead of trying to figure it all out from scratch by himself.

Based on what Hikaru sees at 5:35, if he hasn't figured it out earlier, he should realize that he almost certainly just hung his queen, i.e. before W actually makes the move. No, he didn't gamble; it was purely a mistake. Hikaru only plays weakly in the first few games. He's back to his old self after that. Especially, his very last comment: "I Bobby Fischered myself, but he didn't do it."

@@wonderwhatsnext5408 No, it is specifically the strongest players who don't need to see the board at all. That's why it's so surprising that Hikaru is playing so badly today.
