Been a while since I last played through a HL1 themed set with ol' HDest. Granted, it's 'cause there's not a lot of HL1 themed maps for Doom. Yeah, I'm aware of Paranoid/Paranoiac. No, I don't think it's actually a good HL1-to-Doom mod, atleast with anything else that's not the maps. The maps are fine. The rest? Too much inconsistencies in look/feel that I just can't recommend it unless you're fine with things like HL2 sounds in what is supposed to be a HL1-themed mod, 2D modelshots in the same room as 3D models even though they're literally the same thing, hgrunts not having their famous sentences, LD sounds even though the graphics use HD pack weapons, and hoh golly goo, so much more.
Honestly, it's just too much issues that I'd rather not stuff this video's description with. I might do a run of HDest with it, after I've torn it apart inside out to my preferences, but that might take a while. If I were to play another HL run with HDest any time soon, it'll probably be with Paranoia, and only 'cause I can just sandblast the setup in that lot with my existing HDest setup instead of needing a wiretear.
Anyways, Half-Lifed! Odd naming, a pain in the neck to look up, but overall pretty decent map. Quite a fair bit of cheap trickery that resulted in me restarting the run a fair few times, but I think I did pretty well for this one. Weird that the first vent you have to go through being a passable wall instead of just being a regular door with a vent texture. Also not sure about that whole radiation sand thing, I feel like it's missing radioactive material, and well, a radsuit to waltz through (unless my tactic of walking on the cliffsides is an actual intended method). Bit weird that the switch to open the vent being a Doom texture. Wondered if the dev forgot to replace that texture with a HL1-themed one.
