For the longest time I've been playing HDest in a way that's mostly intended as the default. This whole NFR series' creation in the first place was pretty much my counter to people back then who'd sneer and jeer at HDest calling it things along the lines of "rage inducing troll mod that's designed to be as hard as possible" and that "you can't even play a single map without saving 'cause it's so unfair".
Of course, it's an easy tell when they say that because then it's obvious that they never bothered looking at the vast amount of options HDest has in its arsenal. Today's run is brought to you by me setting all the difficulty settings as low as they could possibly be. Encumbrance 0, damage multiplier set all the way to the bottom, maximum strength and height, no bleeding, and just to top it all off, some addons to make it even more difficultyless. Josh's Robocop and Oops, All Anything! mod gives HDestGuy zero recoil on his weapons and the ability to replace all enemies in a map with something else, which in today's case, are all zombiemans. I can still perish, of course, it's no God mode. Sustained gunfire will eventually wear me down, but I think it's safe to say that today's run won't be a particularly regular kind of HDest playthrough.
Then comes the thought of making the run themed off of something. An image crosses my mind when I think of all the powers I now possess. It'd fit a Terminator really well, wouldn't it? Gosh, even the bit where you can shoot people through walls like in the police station scene? Match made in heaven. I modded the lightamp's interface to remove the visibility limiting graphic and put together some shortcuts for easy brightness changing so it doesn't hurt my eyes as much in the run. Perfect. FDA's tracers works well as a substitute to Josh's blasters that provided a more consistent blaster-like look to all the weapons. Stapled some sound mods to make the guns feel like the future war blasters. Nicked Skelegant's cyberguy mugshot. Just needs a map that'd fit well for a resistance base, one that Ashes 2063 has gladly provided. I imagine some people are going to be driven away 'cause this video's gonna be just 15 minutes of me playing through a map in complete Hideous Red mode the whole time, and that's fine. I'm just glad that everything behind this vid clicks just right according to my intentions.
