The first problem is that people always say goodbye to the dog, never do that because they think that the will be alone, just try to ignore when you're leaving so he knows you'll come back, when you come back home don't pay any attention for like 3-5 min, so the dog knows its a normal thing that you go out and come back every time. And for the last give the dog something to play or something to entertain, because if they get boring the do stuff that are destructive.

Neighbors constantly complain about howling dogs. But, owners think it's no big deal, dogs being dogs. However, dogs aren't just howling; they're stressed. Seems like they'll do better if their daily routine included yard time, separate from owners where they can be observed for problems. Hopefully, they'll become more fulfilled & not stressed when owner leaves for errands.

As an upstairs neighbor of someone who has a dog with separation anxiety and howls, it is extremely difficult to deal with. It wakes us up, makes it impossible to relax, and it makes my cat extremely skittish and fearful. If you have an anxious dog, you need to be going to a vet for possible medication and behavioral therapy. That howl is pure misery.

He howled because he's trying to call out to you, he's wondering where you went without him. My dog is with me literally 24/7. I'm home most days and work only part time at a Veterinary clinic where he goes with me to work and gets to play with our boarders while I'm there. When I go to lunch he's with me, if I have to run a errant he goes with me......he loves to ride in the car and no mater the weather his window is down and his head is out with his tongue and ears flapping in the wind........we eat together , sleep together, go anywhere and everywhere TOGETHER because he's my best friend ......I ❤️my DOG .....he's the salt of the earth, the full moon on a dark night, the calm after the storm........the love of my life ❤️💛💚💙💜💖

They take a German Shepherd and stick it in a tiny room when they leave. Get a toy dog if you just want a companion. German Shepherds are farm dogs and country dogs. Big dogs are not meant to stay in confined spaces.

I'm not an expert on animal behaviour, but as dogs are pack animals, and if trained correctly, their owner becomes the 'Alpha Dog.' The dogs shown are suffering separation anxiety. What to do? Exercise your dog - brisk walk, play games in the garden before you leave for work. Tire them out so the dog naps a bit,and another plus from the exercise he's calmer from the start. Best to have two dogs (obviously one's who get along).Loads of toys that you rotate. It's a HUGE commitment to have a dog and be sensitive to their care and needs.Of course they would love to have you home 24/7, but it's just not possible,

@@madmachinexx In most countries in the world, stray dogs generate more PUBLIC HEALTH problems than rats and roaches: Contagious diseases, they shit and pee in the streets, garbage bags destroyed and spread in the street, traffic accidents, attacks to children or old people, attacks to pets, etc. Yet 'animal lovers' don say anything to save those rats and roaches that are killed all the time for 'public safety reasons'. Dogs should be spayed and neutered before being given into adoption. Stray pregnant dogs should get abortion, before bringing more puppies to suffer, even the real rational animalist propose that. The ones not adopted after a while, should be put down, as they do with rats (in fact it'd be in a less painful way as the rats suffer).

The behaviour can be corrected with the human routine. You don't say bye when you leave or make a big fuss about it. Return when they are calm and quiet. Leave a thing on their beds that smell like you for comfort. There's also calming pheromones. You can also crate train. There's the option of getting them a companion. There's a bunch of little things that will help with their anxiety.

7:08 - BAM! Whats the first thing to do when coming home? Petting the dog even though they know he did something he's not allowed to do eg. not meant to do. Training a dog is pretty much like raising a child. It's got nothing to do with being too rude or too soft on either of them, it's just setting up some rules and almost everytime it's not the dog who forgets what he has learned...

I came here because my 7 pound Maltese Poodle Terrier mix was howling when I walked up to the house. She didn't notice I was home yet. Never heard howl before even when we tried to make her through mimicking howls and youtube. Also I have taken videos of my dog home alone before, I have never heard her howl home alone, this was a first. I do know she has separation anxiety but only when she is completely alone. She does pace a bit though and lay at the door but only when she is completely alone. If only one person leaves she is fine.

I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I take him for walks, we have problems. He hates other dogs and other people sometimes even growls at us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!

My dogs usually just sleep when I'm not home. They'll wait at the door for a bit, but go lay down, play with one another, or sleep. Think it just depends on the personality of the dog. If there's more than one, usually they're fine. Had a puppy at one time though who when I went to school, whined when I had to leave, and mother told me how he looked all over the house for me until I got home from school, so yeah. It just depends.

This is the reason I never have just one dog. I always have multiple dogs so while, yes, they have a relationship with me, they also have doggy friends to chum around with for company. The result? I can leave, there is no howling or separation anxiety, and if I come home unexpectedly from work I can walk in and find them all sacked out, sleeping. Nothing destroyed, disturbed, damaged. Dogs are pack animals. If their "pack" (humans) deserts them, yep they will get unnerved by the separation, call and search for them. So get another dog or two for company so when the humans leave they still have buddies there and are not alone.

humanity has reached a level where they would shed tears over animals but laugh & turn a blind eye over human beings dying around the world. innocent children starving and dying yet we do not care. I am not saying hurt animals in any way but human life has some value too.

YuckFou The media has desensitized us to human suffering through news reports, video games, horror movies, etc. They have done the reverse when it comes to pet animals. A lot of people are brainwashed by the media without even realizing it.

wait ...what are you even talking about? its not the media, its just humans... humans care more about babies then grown adult (no brainer there) and humans have the same reaction with dogs as they do with babies .. tf since when did people not care about dying children ??? they are used all the effing time to manipulate people into giving to charity

Depends on the dogs. I have nine dogs, but they are all quite small. Toss 'em all in a box and they don't weigh as much as the neighbor's GSD, let alone the family down the street with two Irish Wolfhounds. My dogs cost me one can of Pedigree canned dog food and four cups of kibble a day to feed. They get their shots when needed and the occasional dental. That's really not very expensive.
