    You mentioned how the varnish makes colors pop, I noticed that especially on my poppy paintings and also things that are somewhat dark like the mouse or the row boat painting. You might want to add that if you are going to photograph it take the picture before varnishing with a glossy varnish because it makes reflects light more too and your pic may have shiny spots otherwise.

  • @gingercooklive

    @gingercooklive

    7 жыл бұрын

    Good point I will mention that tonight. If you have already varnished the dark colors cause a glare in the photo graph, but if you go out into the bright sunlight you can often over come that.

    Thanks so much Ginger and Jon this was so awesome and can't wait to see the birthday present to us that's so awesom I want to do this painting on a large gallery wrapped canvas , one question do you varnish over pouring medium and over string gels and how long do you wait to varnish a regular painting that doesn't have other mediums on it ? Love you and that's so much guys for what your doing !!!!!❤❤❤❤🎨👍👏🏾

    Thanks Angela, You varnish first, then the string gel. String gel would be way to expensive to do on a large canvas. You would use a gel medium. you can varnish the next day over dried acrylic paint, but 2 weeks for Golden "OPENS",

    Well you would want either magenta or napthol crimson and white. Cad red could be used with white and if you mix it with magenta you get a really nice shade of pink. However you are never going to get a real bright pepto bismol pink. Sometimes because red is a primary color, you just have to buy it. Matisse has some #7 colors that are over $35 a tube for their high end reds. I show those in the Van Gogh poppy video. I have a tulip video on KZread also; here is the link. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHajspesnLnApKg.html

You showed us a painting you had done of a boat awhile back ago that would be really nice as a tutorial.. it was when you were teaching us to add the green to tone the color down. Also there's a picture on pinterest that i know you would love... it's a boat on a lake that has trees and flowers around it.. how can i get that picture to you? Love to paint with you.. i have learned so much..

    I would buy the wide edge one so that you don't have to frame it. You will want a #12 bright brush.

    This is beautiful!! Whenever i paint with acrylics, the paint drags and refuses to blend. your paint goes on so smoothly and blends so well... is something wrong with my paint ( i have liquitex basics)? My canvas? My technique? Please help!!

    You will not get the same result with a basic paint. I am using a professional acrylic paint. Try Liquitex heavy body or Golden heavy body or Matisse Structure paints as these are going to paint much easier and the colors will mix right too. ( my grand children, the younger ones, paint with basics. )

    Absolutely a stunning painting, ... Question please,you said if you wanted to make this painting bigger you go with bold colors, i don't understand the phrase bold other then having no hair but i assume you don't mean that hahaha!

  • @gingercooklive

    Well you could make a blue one or purple one of brighter red one. I would print it out in black and white so I was not constrained with the colors that are on it now, or you could just do those. .

    Would it be possible for you to put the color list specific to the painting in the info on these and on your academy lessons. I like to gather all the paints I will need before I sit down to paint and it helps to be able to look down a list of required colors for paintings I want to do so I know if I need to get any I don't have

    good idea. Normally on our site we use the same colors over and over. Magenta is most always in our flower paintings, but the cad yellow "light" is a new color.

    What about oil varnish, like liquid ?

  • @gingercooklive

    @gingercooklive

    Жыл бұрын

    you can use a an oil and acrylic varnish. Solvar. You must have the Liquitex acrylic varnish on your painting and it dried for a week. If you put the oil finish varnish one that can be used also for acrylics, it need a solvent to clean your brush, and I do not like the effect of this and its not necessary. Oil painting need to be varnished after 6 months
