Learning how to blend acrylics because of the fast drying time is a real challenge to new artists. If you use too much water the paint lifts, and too much paint if goes all smudgy. This fantastic tutorial for beginning acrylic artists takes the guess work out of leaning the fine art skill of successful blending and shading in the colorful still life.
Ginger will be exploring the fine art of acrylic painting with a "back to basic acrylic lesson on blending backgrounds and bananas. Award winning artist Ginger Cook...

    This was a great lesson. I learned a LOT. I am an extreme beginner in acrylics. I've only painted one picture, well 2 if I count the practice one in my notebook a few days back. I just discovered you last night. I was doing a search for an old shanty in the swamp. I think that would make a great painting. So glad I found your channel.

    Dear Ginger, thank You so much for your generosity and amazing talent in teaching. I only starting to learn painting being 80. I am Russian speaking, but I understand You very well.. How can I get full length of those wonderful bananas. I want to eat them all. In Russia we never could buy them. My Mother so loved this fruit. So i want to do this painting in her memory.     You do it the same way just use a larger brush. The techniques I show you on these small canvases and just how you use a brush. When you do a big painting you change the size of your brushes.

    He has been here a week and its so super!!!! we get stuff done in a 10th the time. Two business meeting a day and we rock and roll out the videos. Getting a new set up in Studio A where we can film really large paintings. All the equipment courtesy of special payment plan from my daughter Cinnamon as she upgraded her stuff. LOL

    Ginger, wonderful lesson but by the time i would have added my green then the yellow im blending it into would have been dry. How to keep that yellow damp enough to blend??

    RUBY SATIN SILVER BRUSHES IN THESE SIZES: 1/4 & 3/8 inch short handle angle 1/4 inch bright brush short handle. #8 #6 bright long handle start with those and then start adding more of the bright and angle sizes.

    I am Soo excited to paint these.! My boyfriend LOVES to buy bananas, but NEVER eats them! I am going to paint the heck out of these bananas and hang it in the kitchen. Then maybe he'll stop buying them!

    Get him a bananamama machine. its so cool. you take frozen bananas, (the ones he forgets to eat) and put them in this super high speed device and get out something like icecream. add other frozen fruit to go into the mix. Awesome stuff.
