So about the cyan terracotta color: back in high school I took a ceramics course, and one of the things that I remember is that certain colors of glaze were very much not the color they were supposed to be until they were fired in a kiln. So that might be why Mojang decided to make the uncooked cyan terracotta grey.

It's because the terracotta colours are influenced by their base colour, which unlike concrete for example, isn't white. Look at the white terracotta and you'll see it's pinkish, which is due to the mixture of the base colour, PLUS the colour it's dyed. In other words, the cyan terracotta looks grey because it's a mixture of cyan AND the terracotta base colour, not instead of it.

Bdubs diorite castle from a few seasons ago was absolutely gorgeous. The block works when used correctly!

I really love how iskall is making a cave it’s really coming together fast.

I think Diorite used to be absolutely awful, before the retexture. Bdubs actually had an influence on the retexture and inclusion of a lot of the new blocks if I'm remembering correctly, like the diorite and spruce trap doors.

in my opinion diorite is an alright block i use it sometimes because sadly its one of the only white blocks that have detailed textures

@iskall85 you should use the new statue as a trash can. It’s already got the lava up top so all you’ll need is a dispenser up top. It would also be hilarious to have items dropping inside its mouth

1) That is my favorite statue ever omg 2) I know that this was probably a dare 3) As a person who genuinely likes diorite, this "new stage" in Iskall's minecraft career feels a lot like Bdubs embracing birch 4) As much as this might be a joke, the diorite piece felt really wholesome. It's sort of reminiscent for me of how I learned to accept myself 5) I absolutely adore the enthusiasm with which Iskall speaks, and how much fun he has with the smallest details in an episode.

The old "TV static" texture was ugly as sin, for sure. Even after it was updated, there really wasn't much to DO with diorite. Calcite is the real game-changer at work, it smooths the potential color palette so nicely. Concrete powder is a gravity-affected block, and birch wood is still heavily speckled, so a "grainy white" build just wasn't as feasible.

Although it feels like a dare i think it's worth repeating that bdubs is an amazing builder! People tried to make diorite viable and he just ups and does it with minimal effort. Impulse makes a dwarven gate and bdubs just fucks off into the wilderness and makes an objectively better one randomly xD

@@UchihaRyoukon Yeah, I was with the diorite hate before Calcite was introduced because it didn't work well with anything, but now calcite is in the game, there is so much more you can do with it. It's a similar thing with most common building blocks now, either through additions of similar blocks, or resprites (netherrack for example), although there are some blocks beyond saving.

Iskall, that bird you called a swan is actually an ibis, which in Australia we also call bin chickens. It's Pearl's mascot for her trash shop, selling garbage items hermits can find useful.

I feel like it would be really cool if when he gets down to the deepslate/lava area the base design starts to get more broken down and weathered/abandoned.

Seems like being dared to like diorite was so painful he couldn't upload again

Anyone else remember when he would burn his pickaxe if he mined diorite with it? Good times…

Oh my goodness! I love the little wall additions! I wonder how it would look if you were to do something similar with the slime farm window instead of having it be square? Totally up to you though! I just think that would be neat :)

This is by far my fav. base cant wait for it to finish

I think that one advantage of tye diorite is that it is relatively light against tye darker stone background, which adds an element of perspective.
