I already said pickles as a light source in the previous episode as it wouldn't melt the ice and the pylons could be filled with water. I don't think iskall really reads the KZread comments. Only twitter it seems :(

Wow

The sandstone rings around the pylons are easily the best. It also helps blend the weird biome transition from the desert to the icebergs. The yellow concrete is too bright and clashes with the color of the ice. If the ice were a darker blue, it could work with yellow. The unsaturated colors of the sandstone work better with the unsaturated blue of the ice.

#bigdigs Regarding the big digs (in survival) I totally removed the entire End Island and all of the obsidian pillars. I then built the Millennium Falcon to hide the spawn platform and the Starship Enterprise to hide the portal back to the Overworld. Does that count as a big dig?

Being an energy source is exactly what the pylons do in Starcraft. If you're playing as the protoss race, you need them to power your buildings. So good idea!

Two things: 1. I love the sandstone ring around the ice crystals! It connects to the weird desert you have by the ice biome. 2. Make a diamond out of ice on the sea level “connect” all the ice crystals!

Iskall, guess what I'm doing right now while watching your video? Digging out a big hole in Minecraft xD

The end result was definitely the best of them. Red sandstone looked pretty okay, but....it looked cheap like not valuable. Like a bronze lootbox or something you know is going to be crap when you open it. Quartz looked really nice, but the sandstone is the clear winner. I agree with you that quartz is overrated. Some other blocks you could try are prismarine or even mushroom blocks...and of course Iskallium. Now just need a beacon beam to shoot out from all of them. XD

You know, your suggestions don't work, because there are no slime slabs, no slime stairs, no mushroom slabs and no mushroom stairs. Not sure about prismarine. Not to be confused with prismarine bricks.

End stone would have been my choice, but it still looks great regardless!

When I heard your plan I got worried, but it turned out great in the end. I think you were right about the big yellow pylons being too bulky because there aren't any bright yellow slabs, this seems like something you'll be able to make an awesome base in.

I think my favourite is the final design you went with. I love the sandstone and orange sandstone opens up the opprtunity to introduce warm colours into the colour palette. You can use acacia, and the warm coloured blocks. YaaaaaaaS Bumbo! Also, you can trade other useful things for that chicken. ;)

The sandstone makes sense because of the desert in the distance and looks good! The quartz looks also good and clean

You might be able to use sea pickles on water as the light source in the crystals without them melting the surrounding ice. Right?

Sandstone. Without a doubt. It's warm, but subtle. It's neither white nor yellow. And it compliments the desert in the background.

Ice and sandstone = Mumbo's Season 3 base?

That house was amazing XD. Keep it up. Also.... Mumbo is building a city underneath the mumball. All I'm saying is it could be a lot of opportunity for a family of bumbos....

MAKE YOUR BASE AN ICE CASTLE! mix stonebrick, stoneslab, and all of the ices. the underwater part can be the abandoned tunneled area!

My biggest dig so far was hollowing out around a Fortress, where the End portal is, and putting the whole thing in a glass box display. Great video! I'd go with the quartz, but with more of the Gold style. having detail blocks like stairs/slabs is the key.

Blue and orange are complimentary colours, that’s why they look so good together. #artnerd

speaking of art, did you draw your own profile pic? Also yes I agree about complementary colors, but I think from my own art experience that they work best if one of the colors is in large quantity and the other is more of a highlight.

As a fellow art nerd, I can't be the only art nerd to think that complimentary colour pairs look terrible. Like yellow and purple is fine, but orange and blue looks like a bad superhero and red and green makes me want to vomit. Analogous colours are where it's at.

@@ducky2379 Well, I also find christmas colours gross! I prefer red, white, and gold for christmas, at most green accents through leaves and trees. And you'll notice that portal doesn't use blue and orange as main colours in its art design, it's mostly monochrome with pops of blue through various details. Orange is used as the other portal specifically because it contrasts so much. It's a really great game design element actually. Thank you for bringing up portal btw, been too long since I've played it!

Nice! The sandstone ring looks like elegant jewelry, where as the yellow from last episode looked like a blob of melted gold.

Hello

Utilizing the sandstone, you can take advantage of having the icebergs next to a desert. And the lore could involve the miners finding a mummy with ice powers, causing the warm ocean to freeze over. Adding a dead coral reef could add to the lore as well. I’ll tweet this to you as well :)

The sandstone helps make that nearby desert make sense as far as biomes go.

Those pylons look amazing. I think it would also be super cool to replace the center of the pylons with glass, and then have beacons coming up through the center of each pylon. Great video.

the Quartz bracelet looks fantastic! you can blend in more snow and quartz with it.

I love the pylons with the dark blue glass, end rods, and sandstone!

When I have a large dig or project to start, I usually watch some let's play's. Usually it's Minecraft, because that makes sense. But I watch other stuff as well. Often I listen in on a twitch stream, just because I like listening to people talk in the background. Also, I love the sandstone. It doesn't look like more snow, like the quartz does, and it doesn't scream at you like the red stone does. It's understated and clean. *Thumbs up*

I almost chocked on my noodles laughing at you changing Wels' build. That was hilarious.

The sandstone ties together the ice and desert biomes and these pylons could explain how the ice aliens came to create a frozen ocean next to the desert.

I really like the ring on the crystals. A beacon inside of the crystals might make them look a bit more epic

The pylons look great. You've really put the pressure on yourself, because whatever you build in the center will have to be absolutely epic.

that looks great i really like the sandstone/blue glass combo really makes the pylons look cool and like a piece of art! the textures & colors really compliment eachother.

I am currently draining a swamp that was 90% water and deeper than I've seen. While watching your video Iskall. Love the pylons and totally agree with the uncertainty of tearing down the terrain.

Go with the Protoss theme: your base would be a Nexus and you can build a Gateway for your nether portal.

I think something that would be really nice is to have an especially majestic and decorated ice crystal/pylon right smack in the center hovering above your overworld base, such that it is like the 'master crystal'?

You should make the center bottom and top point columns to be glass and then put beacons right up through the center of them. You will also enjoy the effects for the rest of the future episodes.

Maybe have a gap of one block air between the packed ice and regular ice for the crystals? To add a glow looking effect

Add some glass smoke-like spirals circulating from rings, like tiny maelstroms.

The orange makes it stand out from the sea of blue and white around your base. You don't have to make the WHOLE base orange. Having orange accent on the pillars would look amazing and really make them pop! With the white, they're gonna continue to fade into the background.

9:52 Iskall, you asked how many times Cub died expanding the Guardian farm... That gloriously fantastic madman died exactly ZERO times! He went into the project risking 215 experience, no less, and came out on top! Didn't lose it!

Make a very big pylon in the middle as your base

Iskall I have an idea for the pylons. You should hollow it out in a straight line (1 by 1 size) from top to bottom (except for the external ice) and then place a beacon under the water directly beneath them. This will give them another structural point as if they are being used for energy of some sort. This will also let you utilise the beacons for buffs as you have enough room to make them a full pyramid. You may not have the resources at the moment but for future it would look great!

Try using the slow falling potion while flying and you'll be able to kind of float around which will make it easier to build in the air

Quartz not only look more crisp, but also matches with the color of snow around it. This allows you full freedom in color range for your base, as the blue and white are preexisting tones. Also, don't bash on the starter base, it looked freakin sick.

Mumbo often needs some packed ice. You could give him a chest full as a gift.

I personally think the white looks the best. White also mixes well with almost every other color, which means it would be a lot easier for you to design your base around the blue/white color scheme compared to the others.

The crystals really look like the weapons of the cryomancers in skyforge. They look cool

Make a temporary giant circle through the centres of the pylons and then place a sea lantern at 3 block intervals on the path of the circle to make a ring of floating lights. The centre of your base could be a large spire following the shape of the top half of a pylon. a bit like under Mumbo's drone base from season 4 but straight.

@Iskall85 You could remove the regular ice altogether, and replace the external layer with a mix of both packed and blue ice. Maybe even some light blue glass. Dealer's choice, of course. Then you could line the insides entirely with sea lanterns and it would look epic at night.

We did a 300x300 perimeter for a creeper farm.. And we ended up putting 4 squid farms in there too.. And by accident it spawned slimes somewhere in the farm as we got slimeballs too!

I like the red sandstone best; blue and orange is one of my favorite color combinations, but I do understand the concerns about the rest of the base.
