    Love this super informative video! I started my Hermes journey ~ 3 years ago, I now have birkins and kellys in epsom, evercolor, clemance, and T. Maurice (for Picotin). I have to say love evercolor the most. It takes colors well, fine grains and is not too slouchy. On my wishlist is barenia Bikin or Kelly. And of course croc!

  • @Purseonfleek

    @Purseonfleek

    4 жыл бұрын

    I would recommend b30 because it's more timeless. b35 can feel heavy and more suited to those whom are tall. Where as b30 suits all heights and sizes. Preloved I would recommend Togo and you can't go wrong with a neutral colour. Hardware is personal preference I am happy with either hardware

    Love your breakdown, even though it was a lot to absorb because I don't know which bag I'd want in any leathers now. I kiiinda don't want Epsom now that I know it is pressed & scratches off color. I wanted to buy bastia coin purses to test leathers & because of all their differences, I'm not sure which. Some leathers seem great for bags but not for SLGs & vice versa. I only like small bags (B25, K20/mini, C18) Do you have any beginner advice for these bags or suggestions for the bastia at least?

  • @Purseonfleek

    @Purseonfleek

    4 жыл бұрын

    slgs definitely perform differently because they are only single lined. so even for example epsom on a mini evelyne is hardly able to get scratched because it isnt double lined making the leather more soft and supple to the touch. for someone new to Hermes i feel that togo on a b25 is the safest option. c18 i would recommend evercolour but epsom is manageable too in smaller bags.

  • @Purseonfleek

    @Purseonfleek

    Yes I recommend the 7rp inserts because they help to keep the shape of the bag without causing indentations and disformity of the leather www.7rueparadis.com/Purseonfleek I have a code for 30€ off one insert POF30 or 70€ off 2 inserts POF70 I am an affiliate with them because I actually love their inserts having tried so many other brands I stand by them being the best. I also have a review on my channel of their inserts if U need more detail and photos compared to other inserts I used.

    Sorry Novillo leather + Veau Jonathan are the two leathers i mentioned at the start that i cannot comment on yet as they are very new to the brand only been released this year. Novillo from what i can observe has similar qualities to swift and evercolour but more firm its likely a hybrid of togo-evercolour-swift.

    Question is Togo leather more expensive than Epsom? Also living in rainy Seattle, what leather would be best - I will try not to wear in rain but sometimes it rains and you don't know! I am going for the more affordable leathers so deciding between Togo and Epsom as my budget only allows those.

    Hi trigurl I think I will have a detailed answer to this (RE: leather for rain) in my next Q&A video. But as for pricing of Togo yes it's more expensive than epsom it's about 200USD more expensive as a rough figure depends on the bag.

    You are welcome! I know some people have managed to get off scratch free with epsom after many years of rigorous use but those are typically birkins or retourne Kelly's but even though they may have managed to avoid the dreaded easy scratches on those styles still corner touch ups on epsom dont look as good as the other leathers. I really want a sellier kelly its so hard to avoid epsom... Wish they made chevre more available or brought back vache natural or chamonix... 😫

    I had an Epsom Birkin 30 and the corners and sides scratched easily. I’m careful with my bags but it’s unavoidable to bump the sides of a bag of that size. I also had a Kelly 28 Sellier and it scratched rather easily on the back especially while traveling through the airport. I don’t own either anymore and much prefer the look and feel of Chèvre. I hope Chèvre is in both our futures!

  • @Purseonfleek

    @Purseonfleek

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes my B30 is togo but has no veining which is great. Technically we should store them laying on the pillow in their box in the dustbag but if you don't use your bag often you should not close the lid and should not store in the dustbag always because leather needs to breathe. But if you are using the bag about 3 times a month and having it outside at least a full day each time then it's fine to have it in the dustbag laying on its pillow I still don't think should put the lid on it really puts the bag at risk of not being able to breathe.

    Does evercolor leather get a color transfer?

  • @Purseonfleek

    @Purseonfleek

    3 жыл бұрын

    Colour transfer is more dependent on the colour if the transfer will show or not. However smooth leathers like evercolour and swift are less susceptible to colour transfer because their grains are very flat and hardly dimensional

    Vintage Dooney and Bourke tumber their all weather leathers and it gives it a pebbled look as well as water proof, it's their AWL. Out of all leathers IMO next to Hermes Coach vintage leather cannot be beat. Im talking about the VINTAGE glove tanned leather, there's absolutely no better.

    @@Purseonfleek vintage Coach bags are what started it ALL for me. But when they came out with the tacky bags with the C's all over them I moved on to Louis Vuitton, Prada, Bally etc. But seriously I've been grabbing my fifty year old Coach bags alot lately. I'm currently rocking my vintage Willis and Court bags, I truly don't think there's any better leather out there and I do own a couple Hermes wallets and a Evelyne bag which are really nice but I rather carry the glove tan leather, just me and my opinion.

    Epsom goes through a different process than the other leathers. The labour that's performed on the other leathers is what makes them more expensive than Epsom. Epsom has an artificial grain heat pressed into the leather which is a far faster process than all the other leathers go through to obtain their unique characteristics

    None of these processes she explains are done by Hermes they purchase the finished hides from different tanneries like Roux, D' Annononay, Conceria Bretagna, and Hashimoto. The Tanners perfect specific methods to produce leathers with certain characteristic. My shoe cobbler was able to purchase a hide which was an exact match to my wife's push present and make me a belt and watch strap to match for our bridal shower.
