I have a 2010 Honda Civic with 60,000 miles on it. I have not had a SINGLE mechanical problem with it. Not one. Still has the original belts and hoses which have been inspected and are still in excellent shape. Engine and transmission just keep chugging away. Suspension is still solid. Just last year the paint finally started to begin to peel off, but there is not a spec of rust anywhere on the car. All I've had to do on it in 11 years is tires, brakes, and fluids. Best car I ever bought and owned.

I've just purchased my mum's '98 Civic from her. 50,000 miles on it and it still drives beautifully. The only fault with the vehicle was the rear trailing arm bushes. The car has NEVER had a single repair other than that in its 24 year history. My Dad had two Honda Accords. The first one that he owned had 200,000 miles on it when he sold it. It still drove extremely well and it only fault in all that time was a fouled carburetor jet. The second one that he owned he sold with 100000 on the odometer and it never required repairs.

Lol you still have another 300k on it. My mom has 290k on her 2014 and the only issue was a transmission rebuild at 180k because my dad never changed the transmission fluid. But I have a 2015 accord with 200k no problems at all. My brother has a 2016 with like 220. He’s had it since 140k no problems at all. Hondas are solid af. Only issue is the V6 that shuts off cylinders to save gas. But Scotty said if you disable that then they run like tanks. Besides the timing belt instead of chain.

To properly check a CV axle the wheel should be on the ground, and checked by shaking, turning and twisting on the axel itself, otherwise it's mistaken for driveline play coming from the differential. Another thing many overlook for wheel vibrations is break calipers, a caliper not releasing properly will create front end vibrations. I've seen calipers have just a slight grab to them and create vibration issues, and they'll do it worse once they warm up. I think you're right on this one though, those tires need replaced.

Both engine options were great, and the cars were very reliable overall. Just make sure to keep up on standard maintenance items and keep the oil topped up and they run for a long time. The 3.5 engines have a timing belt as opposed to a chain though so remember to change that + the tensioner at the recommended intervals as well. Hope that helps!!

I think as an all-around winner, the best is Honda, simply because they have better-looking vehicles. At the end of the day, I’m gonna want something that looks just as good as it is reliable. And Toyota kinda drops the ball when it comes to design. I think they got too comfortable with having the most reliable vehicles and forgot to actually update and refresh the looks of their vehicles. The Prius is a great example of that. So if I had to choose between Honda or Toyota, I’m going with Honda just based on that alone.

Other than that issue with the VTC actuator and timing chain, honestly never had an issue with the car. I still drive it, and honestly I still love the car. I really think Honda screwed us with that issue, but my mechanic told me that every car has their issue. I currently have 160,000 miles on the car. Also, if you change the battery in a 2014 Honda CRV, change your battery to a group 35 battery, it will last much longer and for those of us living in a winter state, the startup will be smoother in the cold.

I’ve been driving a 2011 Honda Accord Euro (called Acura TSX CU2 in US) for 5 years and it’s been bulletproof. It has run like a dream and only taken to the mechanic for general servicing. Amazing sound system, coolest gauge cluster, sunroof, heated seats/side mirrors, useless yet cool headlight water jets. Not to mentioned it’s the best looking Accord to date. It doesn’t have bluetooth for music which is extremely stupid. The other downside is that VTEC engages at 5,700 RPM which makes the car’s 2.4l 4 cylinder engine sluggish for every day driving. Honda didn’t offer a turbo or V6 option either which sucked. Too bad Honda killed the Accord Euro in Australia. I would have bought the TLX. I’m switching to Toyota or Lexus for my next car since the Camry/IS350 offer V6 engines.

It think that it's partially because I'm not as adept at handling the paddle-shifters as I was with a stick, the wheel base is a tad longer, and the amount of low-end torque, kind of compensates for not "hitting the marks" in the corners the way I used to to get that acceleration through the apex. I've had 4 Hondas ( 3 Accords, 1 Civic) and 3 Toyotas ( 1 Corolla, 2 Camrys & my 2019 Camry SE I drive now). Without any doubt, the Toyotas are better for longer life and dependability. Hondas are super strong but they're loud on the road and I've consistently had paint problems with them. Earlier years, those timing belts had to be replaced. Interior quality was less than what I found in Toyotas. Corolla (1981 liftback) performed flawlessly except for a water pump (cheap repair). 2011 Camry ran perfectly through 157,000 miles when I handed it off to my son. 2019 Camry SE is the best car for the money I've had; really strong, far better than any Accord. I've driven many higher-end American sedans over many decades being in medical sales covering multiple states and always kept a separate "personal" car. None of the American makes lasted over time. Hondas and Toyotas are both great but on a scale of 1-10, Toyota is better by at least a couple of points (in my humble opinion).

@@theoneonly5368 agreed. I've owned six Hondas. 3 of them still sit in my driveway/garage. Two are Accords (2020 and 2007). The 07 has 245k on it. 6spd V6 and still going strong with the same engine. The other is a 1996 Civic. It won't die (not that we are trying to kill it! Lol)!

On my 3rd Hyundai. Commuting 150 miles a day I wanted something reliable and not expensive. Sold my 2005 Accent with 140k miles, 2010 Elantra engine seized with 240k (I think the mechanic messed up when he changed the timing belt), 2016 Accent going strong with 102k. Bought each new for $10k, $14k, and $14k.

If you reach the point in life where you brag about driving a Hyundai Accent as an adult, you have fallen so far that you have forgotten what it is to have dignity. I am sorry to be blunt but you need to hear it.

In all honesty though, if you are driving that many miles, you don't need to buy a luxury car. You need a good throwaway car. So I say you were very smart in your purchases.

I bought a new 2004 Acura MDX back in June 2004 .. it now has almost 400,000 miles on it and runs good. I loved it so much I just purchased a new Ridgeline with the same engine... I hope to get 400,000 miles out it too. ps. A family member who lives on a tight budget took over my MDX and loves it.
